While I'm not a regular, I do have some friends that visit often and they really appreciate it. It's conveniently located close to Downtown, which makes it accessible to all areas around Houston and it's just a 5 minute walk from the nearest METRO bus stop. In SoCal, there's tons of options for dairy-free, and I was worried I'd have to make a cake myself at home. Thank goodness a place like this exists in Houston! This was exactly what I needed for my little one's 2nd birthday. We got an Chocolate & Vanilla ice cream cake, which is made from a coconut base. It was so pretty and delicious! We've also tried their beanie bars and super muffins. The price is a little up there but the quality is there. With all the food allergies in kids these days, this place is a diamond in the rough. I've been going here for years after being diagnosed with Celiac four years ago. I can't say enough good things about this place! Customer service 10/10, sweets 10/10, snacks 10/10. Thanks to awesome bites I haven't had to go without a birthday cake for any of my recent birthdays. My mom (who does not have any allergies) is obsessed with they're beanie cookie cake and regularly requests me to get her some. I love the ice cream, particularly the lavender earl grey. I'm kind of surprised the reviews for this place are so good. I was in line for ages even though there was only one person ahead of me. The counter worker was just moving at the speed of a snail. They had two people working the front and instead of helping me the other girl just went to the back and all of that was annoying but fine- they're young and it was a Friday- whatever. But the cherry on top was when after my dog ate some of my ice cream I called to check the ingredients because they don't have them listed online and I wanted to make sure my dog wouldn't die and the person who answered was either an idiot or a dick because she snapped 'Im not going to give you the recipe!' Ummm WHAT? Then after I told her my situation and repeated that I just needed an ingredient list, she named two ingredients- lavender and earl grey- for the * Lavender and earl grey ice cream*- she then asked an in person customer what she could get for them. Mid conversation. But also where was that hustle when I was there I was so shook I just hung up so I could start googling the likelihood of my dog eating something bad for her (she's fine!) but it still put a bad taste in my mouth- pun intended- about this place All of this is bad enough but I kind of read through the other reviews and found multiple instances of bullying from the owner that are honestly disgusting. People have posted valid concerns and/or their experiences and they came in with some passive aggressive caps and saucy remarks. I LOVE this place! I immediately raced over here the moment I discovered them. If you have Celiac Disease amongst other food intolerances & allergies, this place is absolute HEAVEN! When I first visited Awesome Bites, it had been 5 years since I last ate a waffle cone. Just amazing. The people working here are always kind and friendly. Service can be on the slow side, but I appreciate the amount of care they put into each order. I'm not in love with the credit card convenience fee, but I can definitely appreciate the fact that this is a small mom and pop. While their items are pricey, it makes total sense given the gluten free, dairy free, vegan, high quality ingredients, etc. These aren't frozen Udi's muffins, okay?! Also, there is NOWHERE like this in Houston. It's one of a kind in our city. I can understand that some people might not value the effort they put into creating allergen free, healthy desserts...but their desserts are genuinely tasty. I mean I'm never going back to regular cake cones. As well the super muffins are amazing I got to try the dark chocolate, and lemon blueberry. This gluten-free bakery makes great baked goods, but it seems that the staff employed there do not know a lot about their products. I was attempting to get a chocolate cake and was told if my order was less than one week I would be charged $10 per day for rush. I was not going to pay $100 for a cake. Instead I ordered cupcakes. I stated I only wanted chocolate icing on the chocolate cupcake. When I picked up the order it had sprinkles on it. I indicated to the young lady I did not want sprinkles. She informed me all of their cupcakes comes with sprinkles. Therefore, you have to read their whole disclaimer to see where it states that. I told the young man I did not want sprinkles, I don't know why he did not include that note. Back to the chocolate cake. I was asking him what ganache was and he said he did not know. If you have worked at an establishment for at least one year, I would think that you would know what certain things you put in your products are. read more

This is such a gem. Everything is vegan and gluten free. I got a double scoop and the maple really stood out. It was super creamy and not overly sweet like you typically get with ice cream. My mom has food allergies that include dairy and gluten, so she was so happy that we took her here while she was in town. I really wanted to love this place... Gluten, vegan, and dairy free options! But I was saddened and disappointed in spending my $25 here. I came here on a Friday night for the cupcake/cake specials. I purchased a Strawberry Funfetti Cake even though it didn't have a price on it and thinking it wasn't going be too too expensive. I mean, I knew the place was already expensive to begin with, but almost $10 for a slice of cake? That was ridiculous. It was almost the last piece and the employee cut that last piece in half just to make more money off the next person. I was extremely disappointed. Poor decision that could have easily been avoided if they had already pre-cut the cake into even pieces. I felt as though I got ripped off. And the person who bought that last me afterwards probably also got ripped-off. Muffins and brownies come in frozen so be prepared to wait. The muffins are basically mini muffins for $2 each. Brownies were $4 each. There was only 2 people working and with the defrosting of the muffin and brownie orders, thawing out the ice cream and then scooping it (basically rock solid), people tasting all of the different flavors of ice cream, waiting for the "special sauce" (chocolate that hardens once it goes on top of your ice cream) to melt down before they even put on your ice cream... made the service quite slow. Again, I really wanted to like this place. It was such a great concept. But I felt ripped off for what I paid for. I mean, $10 for a small piece of cake that didn't have a list of ingredients? Kind of dry and small, but I think it's just a personal preference because that's how they got started, I think - selling the muffins at farmer's markets and then growing from there. They've got snickerdoodle, sunflower butter, and classic chocolate chip as well. I had their seasonal peppermint cocoa cookie, and it was fudgy and indulgent yet had that nice peppermint bite. Cookies are Thursday only, and you should stalk their Instagram to see flavors of the week. Special doughnuts are Thursday only, cupcakes on Friday. You get the drill.
