This is a good place to go with friends- tons of room! Tables galore and even outside seating when it's nice. The arcade games are a fun addition to the brewery. It's very family friendly so expect lots of kids and not a lot of supervision. The food I've had was fine- it's a brewery so I don't expect fine dining. The beer is mid from what I'm told. This brewery is so spacious with two levels, but the upstairs was closed for a private event. The space is covered, but very open that it's pretty much outdoors. Due to this, they only had fans to keep cool while circulating the outdoor air. Since we had our pup with us, we were only able to sit in the patio area, but it's not like the "indoor" area was really indoors. Anyways, I wasn't in the mood for drinking, so just had some lunch here. There's two restaurants combined at the food counter (which used to be food trucks here). You can get pizza from pizza and subs from Flo Bros Pizza and wings, burgers and sandwiches from Marin Eats. I had the Crabcake Sandwich ($15) with Tots (+$2). The sandwich was solid and tots were crispy. It's a nice space to hang out with a group. There are pinball machines, cornhole, and games for entertainment. Awesome spot! Tons of seating and parking. Great selection of beer and cocktails. I loved the Hazy Daisy and can't wait to head back to try a few more. The interior is awesome, with arcade games and some other bar games for folks to play. Perfect for a big group or to spend a fun afternoon. Outside is nice too, shaded and blocked off from parking. Amazing space, great beer selection and excellent music let down by poor food. Drunken pig specialty pizza was ok. Crust chewy, flat, kinda tasteless, not great. Sauce too sweet. Margarita pizza couldn't be finished by any of our party. I wasn't convinced until I tried it (is this for real, are we on camera?!?). We threw the pie away after a couple bites each. Just get a cheap grocery store frozen pizza and save some bucks. Seriously, the pizzas need some help. Too bad, was really expecting more. Dry rubbed wings with ranch were ok. Axemann Brewery is a very cool spot! The atmosphere is perfect for indoor / outdoor weather and for families with children. Not only do the offer a wide range of beers, wines and cocktails, they have a ton of family friend / kid friendly games available to keep everyone entertained. They used to have food trucks which now turned into permanent spots at the brewery. We tried Marin Eats and it exceeded our expectations! We had the Mac and cheese bites w/chipotle ranch; the jumbo chili cheese dog and the cheese steak! The Blue stripe is the flagship Kolar beer of axeman brewery and was really smooth with a great taste. They are also dog friendly! I agree with all the positive aspects mentioned in other reviews, but two things made it hard to really enjoy eating here. 1. Lack of servers--This place doesn't look like a fast-food restaurant but functions like one in terms of how you order food and drinks. You have to order food at a tiny counter and drinks at the bar. It feels like food ordering was an afterthought. 2. The acoustics are the worst I've ever heard. It's an old industrial building with a metal roof, hard walls, and zero acoustical treatment. The baseball game was ridiculously loud and positioned directly across from the food ordering counter. We had to practically shout to order our food. In the indoor dining area, we could barely hear ourselves talk, so we moved to the outdoor tables. I really hope they add some acoustic treatment to the ceiling to absorb and break up the acoustic reflections. It is really, really bad. read more

I met friends at Axemann at 7pm on 8/20/22. I read some great reviews and they didn't disappoint. Lots of games from corn hole to connect four. There's indoor/outdoor tables so lots of options. Great rock n roll music playing and some large tvs had various games on. There's a Mexican food truck in the parking lot and a snack bar/quick service inside. My friends had a cheesesteak and one other dish and said the food was good. Good beer/sangria, fun games, great music... you can't go wrong with Axemann! read more

Pretty impressed with this new venue in the Bellefonte area! Only about a 20 minute drive from downtown State College, this fairly secluded new venue is perfect for relaxing with a beer or mixed drink (and hopefully avoiding the college students). As a central PA native, this place knocked it out of the park with the industrial vibe and open air seating (thanks to large garage doors) that overlook a running creek. They also have second story indoor seating area in addition to second story patio seating. As far as food goes, they are currently offering an in-house Blonde Bistro menu, in addition to some outdoor food trucks (Clem's...Rosie's Pierogis...etc.). All of the beer is in house, and they are also offering a cocktail from Big Spring Spirits and a cider from 814 Cider Works. read more

This location is very large and a creek runs along the side where you can walk along it from a raised walkway. The beer selection is pretty good and I like many of their beers. Oktoberfest is a fun time at this location. The food selection is usually pretty limited but this place seems like it's more about the beer anyway. They have some games inside you can play like twister, jenga, etc. Very cool spot. The service has been good the times I've been here. read more

This space doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is seriously gorgeous. I forgot to take a photo of it bc I was too busy staring. They did a phenomenal job of renovating this space. This is a great spot to grab brunch, play games while grabbing a few beers, host friends for a celebration. Supposedly during non-covid times they plan to host cornhole tournaments and live music. I ordered brunch items from the Blonde Bistro. The mimosas were very tasty; I loved the banana split; and the 2 egg breakfast was okay. The eggs were either not done, or cooked in a heck of a lot of oil. I couldn't eat them. Unfortunately, because of their order online system with no wait staff, no one comes to check on you. I would have mentioned it if someone asked, but it wasn't worth it to me to seek out someone to give feedback. Hopefully they consider adding staff to check on tables soon. Came for lunch and a beer. They had a reduced menu due to graduation weekend, so mostly IPAs and pale ales were on tap, along with a pilsner and a Berliner Weisse. They have beer to-go in cans, as well, from the little merchandise stand at the front. All the beer I tried was good, and the staff was super friendly and quick. Inside is a huge seating area, along with garage doors that open up for views of the creek (Logan Branch) and train tracks. There's also an upstairs that was closed off on my visit, and a patio. The whole building was an old iron works, and it's amazing what they've done to renovate the place. Food comes courtesy of The Blonde Bistro, which is mostly pub fare along with some Italian dishes. I had the All-American Burger, which was great, along with fries. My partner had a souped-up BLT, although she did mention that it may be better with sliced tomato rather than tomato aioli. There was also a food truck outside during my visit, so that's an option as well. read more

This is a great addition to Bellefonte! We don't live in the area but during the months of April-June we come almost weekly to fish on the weekends! We are always looking for great places to go and tried Axemann out this past Saturday. We were not disappointed. It appeared quite crowded and finding a space for parking was tough but once you got inside the place was huge and spread out. Plenty of seating even with a crowd. A waitress takes you beer order and if you want food they seem to have a food truck outside regularly but they also have their own kitchen "The Blonde Bistro". I got the Italian sub which was outstanding! The dressing on it was fantastic. My husband got this appetizer which were these huge meatballs in like a mini Stromboli pocket and he said they were amazing. Our friend got wings with the Buffalo sauce on the side. This sauce was quite unique as it was more like a jelly type and real thick but the flavor was so good. Their beer selection was pretty good. Our favorites were Hazy Daisy, Mean Duck and Titan Stout. We will definitely make this a regular stop on our weekend adventures!! read more

The HIDDEN GEM OF BELLEFONTE this is definitely a must visit place if your in the area. At first it looks like a old industry building but once you get in front of the actual restaurant (which is around the side, follow the signs) it starts to reveal itself. The big surprise is on the inside, man does it look incredible. You could easily have a fancy meeting, a nice dinner date or just a casual drink. The staff is very helpful and the liquor is made locally (it's actually really good). They do have their on house made ales (they are a brewery.) which I hear are good. The food was good but the River view and awesome interior design is first class. WE WILL BE BACK!! read more

During the depths of the pandemic, no doubt, some idiot young servers were not wearing masks as I can only hope they were instructed to do. at this point, masking goes on but we know more about ventilation, and this is an OK place, with OK to great beer, with good to great service, and quite variable food. the food trucks vary and their prices are generally higher than I would set them (sell more at a lower price!). Axemann is a great place to grab a drink, sit by the river, and play a few yard games. Plus, the place is so huge that you rarely have to wait for a table. They have a great beer selection, all of which i would describe as crowd pleasers: I'm not sure any of their beers are all that memorable or spectacular, but they are all very decent! Axemann has an interesting draw upon both the locals and the state college/university folks, so you get an interesting mix of people here. The space in warm weather is amazing! I love that they transformed a crumbling old factory into a huge brewery that is completely open air. It has a great vibe! Plus, there's a great deck on the second floor. But, in cold weather when it's not open air, it is really loud and not as comfortable an atmosphere. The music wasn't loud, at all, it's just all hard surfaces with no place for the sounds to go. This is a place you go for the atmosphere, the beer is not bad at all, but it's also pretty unremarkable. We were there Saturday evening and there were no servers, so you just stand at the end of the a very busy bar and wait for someone to finally notice you, so, we only had one beer. Im sure this must have something to do with the staff shortage that everyone is struggling with. The food is from Blonde Bistro (it's a business within a business) and it's good, mostly bar food. I miss when they were a full scale Italian restaurant, in town. But, I'm sure the make more money here. But they do have a lot more culinary potential. I will definitely go back, but not until the weather is warm and it's a huge open air space and more comfortable. read more

This place is huge! We sat upstairs out on the patio. It overlooked the water and was beautiful! Their beer was nice. There was a food truck with tacos etc parked outside and there's a restaurant inside the building but it's not part of the brewery. You can download an app to purchase food from the restaurant and they will bring it to you. Our whole table ordered the fish and chips. We enjoyed our food and the portion was enough for two meals. It comes in a styrofoam container so it's easy to take the rest home. Overall highly recommend this place! read more

We had a great experience at Axemann Brewery! I am lucky because I get to travel for work and that includes eating out a lot. The owners of Axemann have done a great job creating a beautiful space coupled with a unique dinning/drinking concept that is unmatched in this part of Pennsylvania and rivals the best of what you find in major city's across the country. We loved the Hazy Daisy IPA and Raspberry Wheat served in very nice and appropriate mugs! The rotating food options are cool and sets them apart from other places in the area. They have recruited the Blond Bistro (local winner on yelp) to be their consistent food option, In addition they have rotating food trucks that offer unique options nightly. The night we went they had Done's Bones as the food truck and it looked and smelled amazing! We had pizza and stromboli, from Blond Bistro, and both where great! Another great thing about Axemann Is that the size and open concept created by several glass garage doors, that they opened, give you an outside dinning experience while sitting inside. They are very COVID complaint which was comforting since this was our first time eating out since the sequester started! I love Axemann, I broke this review into three sections: Space Awesome brewery with a HUGE brewpub/bar space. Great to bring kids to, there was enough ambient noise and space that I didn't feel self conscience when they were fussing about something, plus they might get to see a train pass by! Summer is super nice as they have garage door that's open the interior space up all along one side of the brewpub section and on the second level they have another large bar and seating section with and outside deck. Beers Beers are really good, they have a nice variety from Hazy IPAs to stouts. All beers that i have had i liked, I only wish they had more rotating variety, they typically have the same stuff or maybe 1 different beer, it would be great to see a whole series of small batch beers only available in house. Food The food was also really good, they have a good selection of food trucks that are there most weekends and then they have the Blonde Bistro inside, which is separate from the Brewery. The Blonde Bistro, has a good selection of food that is very good. You have to go up and order, but they do bring the food to your table, if you have been to Troegs is the same type of arrangement. Overall a very solid choice and a welcomed addition to the Happy Valley brewery list!! read more
