This is hands-down the best rooftop bar in all of Bella Vista, but good luck getting a table on the weekend! Your best bet is to come on a weeknight, particularly now (during the troubles causing the social and political unrest throughout the country and particularly this area) and via taxi since the Baquedano metro stop is no longer in existence. A few months ago (before the troubles started), a group of friends and I tried to come here on a Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. Bad idea. There are no reservations and it is first-come, first-served. That was no problem for us because there are so many great restaurants and bars in this neighborhood, but fast-forward to last week when I had a friend from the U.S. visiting for her first time ever. She spent the daytime taking the funicular, touring the zoo, and taking a walking tour. Regrettably, I had not been on the Metro since early October 2019, before all the upheaval began, so I was very late in arriving to meet her thanks to the protests, riot police blocking the streets, and general mayhem just down the street from here. She didn't seem to mind--she found her way to the restaurant and snagged a great table (there really are no bad seats here, but the tables along the railing are the best for taking photos of the cityscape). Once I arrived (badly in need of a drink for all the traumas I just witnessed minutes earlier on my walk), I was absolutely stunned by the beauty, calm, and serenity of this spot. You would have no idea there was a quasi-civil war being fought just down the road. We sat and talked for hours over pisco, wine, and empanadas. I pointed out the various sights around us, including La Chascona, the home of Chilean poet laureate Pablo Neruda, which is named after his mistress-turned-wife, Matilde (hence, the name of the restaurant). Luckily, we came at the perfect time and caught the sunset, which was lovely. If you need to get away from the bustle of the city (or fiery, tear-gas-filled protests), this is the spot for you. I can't help myself. This place deserves 4* but I need to counteract its terrible rating! I don't know why this place has such a bad yelp rating... I went here ignoring the rating because I specifically wanted a sunset view (and it did NOT disappoint). We ordered drinks, 2 starters and elected to share a main dish so that we could order 2 desserts. The cerviche was ok. I have only had better cerviche once in Santiago, but I was still disappointed that there wasn't more tang and the fish was a little fishy. The quinoa salad was good. Nicely presented with a delicious tangy dressing. Very fresh. I ordered 2 drinks, the first a piece pomelo tonic which even with the waiter's advice when ordering I still found too sweet. But he brought me an extra shot of lemon juice and I was really surprised how much I ended up loving this drink. Then I tried a Traditional Mojito made with Flor De Caña 4 rum (because I love rum). I ordered this to be much less sweet than the standard, but it still arrived a bit sweet for me. Nicely presented- I love dried citrus as garnish that's all the rage now! Main dish: sesame encrusted barely seared tuna. If I hadn't eaten so much truly fresh tuna,(diluted in front of me) I could have mistaken this for fresh tuna. Quite nice. And then dessert... actually the desert blew me away. I've been to some very "fancy" restaurants in this past 2 weeks in Argentina & Chile but this was my favourite dessert: quinoa tres leches. It was phenomenal! And gluten free! Like the whole rest of the menu you may have noticed. The second dessert I personally didn't care for but found it interesting and different, and my friend that ordered it absolute loved it. Raves about it. It was a cream made of fruit I hadn't heard of and have unfortunately forgotten with meringue and fresh mandarins. There was even a raw vegan option! (Which I didn't try). Very easy to back gate this menu if you're gluten free or dairy free or have other eating difficulties. I highly rate this place, and the view just sets it over the top.did I mention that I loved the desserts and considered ordering more? They didn't look the part, but they really delivered. read more

I love rooftop restaurants and bars and this place was great. It opened at 7 pm the Thursday night we went and we got there at 7:30. I think the place was full by 8 pm. And as one of the other reviewers mentions, you can sit there for hours having drinks and enjoying the views. So if you can't get there within the first hour of opening, I suggest 3 hours later because that is likely when a lot of tables will turn over. read more

Definitely a pricier restaurant in Santiago, but well worth it for the food and spectacular rooftop view. I came here with a large group that gradually kept getting larger, and staff were so patient and accommodating of this. The food was so thoughtfully plated and the flavors of each dish also thoughtfully complementing of the others. It got chillier as the sun went down, and the waiters offered blankets (nice touch!), however, it took a while for them to actually get the blankets to the table, which was my only gripe with the overall experience. read more

Somewhat secretly embedded in the bohemian barrio of Bellavista and at the foot of Cerro San Cristobol, this rooftop bar/restaurant boasts a great list of original and creative cocktails along with a good food menu. We went for a very non-Chilean early supper at about 5 pm, and there were still only a few tables open. My guess is that the 9-11 pm crowd fills this place up quickly. Ambience - 4.5/5 It's tough to beat the view, Andes all around and a great lookout to the south/southeast towards Providencia. The open walls allow for great airflow on a hot summer day, but the space is protected from the sun with a nice roof. I'd say that nature or "green" is the theme, with the whole floor (and front of the bar) being covered in Astro turf. But it doesn't come off as too cheeky. Potted plants adorn the walls by the bar, but let's face it, you'll be locked in the cityscape that is dotted with high rises and mission-style church steeples. Service - 3.7/5 It's more of a cocktail LOUNGE, minus the couches. I guess that part of the vibe is the live-and-let-loiter service style. We had to flag a server to put in an order, parlayed the removal of our dishes with a request for the check. Most of the clientele was casually lounging about, listening to the mellow drone of house beats on repeat, so I think that the assumption is that you are there to relax, so set your expectations appropriately. All in all I found the service only slightly more lackadaisical than Chilean standards. Food - 4.2/5 I was impressed with the appetizer selection , lots of seafood in the form of ceviche, poke, and octopus to name a few. Great presentation, definitely above average for what I've seen in Santiago thus far. The seafood tasted fresh, and my only critique is that the octopus was prepared a little too "tough", even for octopus standards. The poke with sesame was devine. Recommend for hipsters, young travelers, and locals. We even brought our three month old during nap time, so I guess I recommend it for sleeping infants too. read more

Here is why the place loses a star : smoking is permitted. Otherwise, this it is just great. The staff is easy going and helpful, especially the hostess, Kelly. Nice menu, I was eating light and enjoyed a perfect beef carpaccio and salad that had a good apple vinegar dressing. My dining partner had a nicely executed grilled salmon with a side salad of quinoa. Pretty complete and interesting cocktail menu, with non alcoholic freshly made jugos as well. We skipped dessert, but the menu indicated some nice choices. And here's why this spot is amazing for date night in Bellavista. The view !!! Can't beat it. Definitely recommend you make reservations. The place is awesome! Who doesn't love a rooftop in summer times? A cool place in Santiago where you can go with friends after office and share a drink and eat nice. Be sure to make a reservation before. The service is good, the food is good and drinks are good too. In winter times they cover the rooftop with transparent curtains and they offer you blankets.
