We were told by staff that our art work would be ready to pickup within two weeks. They also informed us that one person in our group could return to pick up the art for everyone. I want to note, the owner was not present at that time. However, upon returning to pick up mine and my friend's art , I had an unpleasant experience with the owner. The owner was very hostile and combative towards me. She became angry because our group (4) requested separate tickets at the time of purchase. The interaction continued with the owner as things were very disorganized as she struggled to locate our art pieces. She later refused to allow me to pick up the art for my friends. Despite us being told by staff that it's a common practice for one person to pick up art for people in their group. I was required to show physical proof of others in my group. I felt as though I was singled out in this experience and will not be returning to this location.

We were put on the first floor near the elevators, which usually wouldn't bother me, but we have 2 small children and heard literally every noise until people went to bed at 2am. The room was nice inside-- 2 queen sized beds, clean sheets, a small kitchen stocked with some dishes, a fridge, stove, and small appliances. The bathroom was clean and stocked with fresh towels. The heat was bumping, so we turned it off and the room was warm the entire night. The water cooler in gym was broken and wipes were dry, but they did offer towels in both gym and pool areas, which was nice. Our kids loved the pool and were able to swim in it for about an hour before bed. Signs on the wall are conflicting about times though-- the pool opens at 10am, but one sign said it closed at 10pm and another said 11pm. There was a restaurant and bar in the lobby, which made it very convenient to grab dinner when we got in. There must have been a company Christmas party in the coference center and people kept coming out to get drinks at the bar. My husband and I ordered hot wings, mozzarella sticks, and a burger and paid close to $50 including tip, which, I'd say, is fairly average. Food came quickly and was hot. We ate in the room with our kids and used the kitchen to prepare their food. The bummer was that breakfast wasn't included in our stay. I guess you have to be Diamond status or something to eat for free. Kids eat free, but it's $10 for breakfast otherwise. The people serving breakfast and maintaining the area we extremely nice and very friendly, but I'd say the food wasn't worth the price. My daughter said the cereal was stale and probably had been sitting in the container a bit. The cooler for the yogurts was either broken or not turned on because each individual yogurt I picked up wasn't super cold. However, there were plenty of "eggs," turkey sausage, and bacon. I believe hash browns and oatmeal were also options. My daughter got some thick sliced toast, which she enjoyed, but I honestly think you can get a better breakfast for less 2 miles down the road at Waffle House. Being a dog friendly hotel and the cleanliness makes me okay with coming back. I'll probably just make sure to pack more groceries next time.

I stayed here during the week- it was very quiet- on a wknd could be radically different noise level (given that I could hear the noise from the parking lot inside my 3rd floor room.) Picked this location since it was so close to I-81. Arrived & instantly felt safe, comfortable here. Simple, clean landscaping. Well-lit parking lot- spaces open close enough to the door. Cleared sidewalks on the way into the lobby despite a few days of snow on a cold icy night. Desk clerk immediately greeted me to let me know she'd be right there. Thanked me for being a rewards member- even if that comes with nothing else- just something about this acknowledgment is nice. (Of course I'll take a perk but hey...) Sadly, she did NOT mention the coffee & tea bar that is accessible in the lobby 24 hrs- found it by watching another guest. Loved having an herbal tea before bed without having to pay primo price for it. I also got a water from the lobby pitcher (lemon-infused) & it tasted great. They had free cookies too. These little kindnesses really do make it a more comfy stay. And people forget to drink enough water in the wintertime! This whole overnight experience was in HUGE contrast (much better) to a bigger brand name hotel the week before in the same area. This was a minimalist, chic room with just enough to offer- and clean. Free simple breakfast. Lots of seating- nice & cozy/warm. Overall in good shape- I might have been in a renovated room. The bed was very comfy- room temp perfect. Not too dry, quiet heater too. Importantly no disruption from the cleaning staff the next morning before I checked out. Was glad I chose this one. 3 stars because the tv was a disaster- kept glitching on me- many upload delays while trying to watch shows & the tv kept turning off on me too?!

We have also found La Quinta at Salem to be very well kept, reasonably priced, with a friendly and accommodating staff and the best breakfast (of it's kind) anywhere on the road. It is very well located for our drive but we'd drive an extra 100 miles along our route to stay at La Quinta Salem. A few years ago we were surprised to hear they now charge for dogs from an original no charge policy but we fully understand and they have kept it reasonable at $25. night. Key factors in our choice was the cleanliness of the rooms, the dog policy, the reasonable price and definitely the breakfast.

I called the owner Matt when it was getting set up and was told they had 600 events prior and my complaint was so out there it couldn't be believed even with the photos I sent in. He said they take great pride in they equipment but that couldn't be seen in the equipment I received. When I spoke with him about all the issues I was told it's rental equipment deal with it. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating! The studio I stayed in was clean, roomy and comfortable. The property is in a very accessible and convenient location to stores and Huckleberry Trail. Definitely recommended!!!
