There is also a bus that will take you downtown but I did not get to try that option. 6 checkin counters, 2 dedicated to Iberia and the rest aena. 1 cafe to get food. 1 set of bathrooms for men and one for women with 2 stalls each. Arrivals are prolly 1 plane at a time since arrival area is small as well. You have to go down/up the stairs lugging your carryon bags to get on/off the plane so it does present problems for people with limited mobility. It's a small airport with not much air traffic that gets things done.

The airport is about 30 minutes east of the city of San Sebastian. Leaving the airport, taxis are easy to hail at the airport (at the time of writing this review Uber was not available). There's only a handful of gates, it's pretty much impossible to get lost in the airport given its small size. Prior to security, there's a cafe with snacks and beverages available at a reasonable price. Additionally, there is free wifi available at the airport - though you would need to set up a free account and watch an ad. Most of the planes flying in and out of this airport are relatively small, so you may find yourself checking luggage planeside. If you're planning on visiting San Sebastian this is your best bet if arriving via plane. It's a relatively short flight from Madrid, maybe an hour or so, and there are a fair number of flights operated daily.

Most flights from here go through Paris where you may be able to process your papers. At least for early flights, the desk to check in luggage doesn't open until 1.5 hours before the flight. I don't recommend the typical 2 hour arrival window for this small airpot. Arriving even 45-50 minutes before your flight is plenty, unless you have an unusual circumstance requiring more time. Usually only 1 flight is happening at the airport at one time, so security lines are low stress. In the summer, additional flights (destinations and times) are added to accommodate for holidays. If you have an early flight, the main cafe/shop post-security may mot be open. Vending machines are always available next to gate 1. The bathrooms are clean. No water bottle filler stations are available. The rental car options here are great (several big brands) as long as you check their precarious open hours. The rental car lots are immediately outside the airport next to the passenger parking (everything here is within a 5min walk). I've never seen public transit here, but usually taxis are waiting outside. Some rideshare apps like Bolt and Uber have good response here too.

Th airport is situated north of Pau, and is served by a bus service to the city. Ive visted he airport twice since ryanair began services to London Stansted, and the overall impression of the airport is not the best ive ever experienced, but for a small airport it works well, and gives the passenger somewhere to wait for there flight. Pau airport has a limited ryanair service, therefore insurance is a great idea as if you end up missing your flight then you have backup, or if you have a flight cancelled then you can claim back the hotel fees. Pau airport is one of the closest airports to the pyrenees mountains, and it takes you less time to travel by air to the airport than it does to reach the mountains! amazing eh. Overall its a great airport to fly from, lets hope ryanair expand here.
