The plus side to staying here is that it's more reseidential, which means fewer tourists, which means less beggers and annoying people trying to sell you junk. Francesco was a delight, just a very sweet man who is more than willing to help with any questions, though knowing some Italian will be most helpful. The room was very clean and spacious with a nice balcony to get some fresh air. Breakfast foods were ready to eat pastries and cereal if desired with coffee, tea and juices. The pricing is very reasonable and there is an elevator, which is nice after all the walking we did and you will likely do in Rome. We would absolutely stay here again in the future.

Not only was the location great, but we felt so welcomed and accommodated by the inn owners, two beautiful girls. We booked this bed and breakfast thru tripadvisor, but had such a great stay that I wanted to share this treasure with my fellow yelpers. The building itself is over 800 years old, but the great thing I liked was that the bathroom were fully renovated. Next trip to Rome, I fully recommend a stay in this bed and breakfast...they do serve good breakfast.

We made a bad one based on reviews here, so here is my opinion about this hotel: Staying here for the second night today. Our room is on the first floor. Pretty big, for three people, but there are two of us(we chose to pay more and have bigger room) while choosing on Expedia. Smell in the room is killing me. No, killing doesn't cover it. I never had asthma and all of a sudden I started coughing and my air pathways were narrowing. No other rooms were available but one on the first floor with the same smell. So my choices were to find another place to live or to deal with it. I opened the window and slept with it wide opened. Cold, but at least I could breathe. It is either a bad mold or they kill cockroaches, or something of similar sorts. I had a choice of moving, but after 11-12 am, and we had 9am tickets to Vatican that were impossible to cancel. Also, who says that the other room will be better? Staying in the same room second night in a row. The window is wide open, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Just had an adventure in the shower :) Here is a story for you if you are interested. It takes 4-5 min to heat the water in the shower. The shower pan is high and the water stays in it and it doesn't drain properly. The adventure was to have a hot shower while standing in 3 inches of icy cold water. If I turned down the shower, it became cold again, so no choice of waiting for half an hour for the water to drain. If I kept the shower running, it starts to overflow after 15 min, so no, not possible either. You an stand on you tippy toes and have a shower while you are warming one leg at a time. Feel like a flamingo now :)

We wholeheartedly agree... this is a GREAT hotel. Hotel Deko Rome is a small, nice 6 room guest house located on the Italian 2nd floor (what Americans would call 3rd floor) of a nondescript office building in central Rome, right next door to the U.S. Embassy. The lobby and dining area is small (remember, it's only 6 guest rooms), the cappuccino is fantastic, the breakfasts are really very nice. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and updated, and everything is stylish and meticulously clean. BUT IT ISN'T THE ROOMS that makes this a fantastic hotel. It's the staff - Serena, Marco and the entire staff are fantastic. Just fantastic. Completely fantastic. Utterly fantastic. When we arrived, Serena spent 30 minutes sitting down with us, pointing out tourist "must do's" and great restaurant and bar recommendations on a big map of Rome. She highlighted everything. It was like having your own personal tour guide of Rome. She was truly wonderful. Marco, who arrived for the evening shift, was equally wonderful. Listen to their recommendations and guidance - they really know Rome, and really know what they're talking about... I've probably slept in 1,000+ hotels in my lifetime, and this was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Deko isn't fancy. Booking this B&B is like having a private concierge along with it. We just can't thank Gianluca enough for all he has done for us. It is clear from our experience that he has been doing this for 24 years. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking Rome is always phenomenal! The location of this B&B is perfect, only a few blocks from the Vatican and a short walk across the Tiber river to the other major archaeological sites. I've stayed in a Mercure in Paris, so I knew to expect a kind of standard room with everything I need and nothing I didn't! The bed was comfortable enough and the wifi was fast. Some people in my party took issue with the fact that there was no air conditioning to be had, as it was turned off for the entire hotel for the season. I was comfortable, but it may be a good idea for the hotel to have a couple box fans on deck for those that like to sleep cold. Oh, and as a PSA, there is an elementary school across the street, and during school hours you will hear screaming children. Kinda weird if you don't know where it's coming from, like I didn't for the first two days. This hotel isn't too close to anything worth seeing, but there was always a cab out front to take us to wherever we wanted to go. My favorite aspect of this hotel was the bar scene! It was always a good time every night, and the bartenders were so personable and adorable. Get the Aperol Spritz!

Casa Il Rosario is managed by The Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Roman Catholic Church. The door is locked from midnight to 6am, so one needs to be back by midnight. I reserved a room a year in advance, and requested a room with an air conditioner facing the inner courtyard. They remembered my request, and assigned us exactly what we had asked for, which was room 301. Wi-Fi connection was weak, even when I went into the hallway. Very clean, large, and comfortable room with two adjoining twin beds, and a tile floor. The staff (including nuns) providing service were very kind and considerate. Breakfast was simple and good; one sister even came to check on us at breakfast to see if we were satisfied, and encouraged us to eat more. LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT in the Monti neighborhood. A short walk to the Coliseum, Roman Forum, lots of small good Roman restaurants, and bus stops (including for going to Vatican City). Easily within walking distance are the Roma Termini train station, the Metro, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. There is a serene in-house chapel.

The man at the front desk during the day was helpful and accommodating, but the front desk person working the evening was rude and unprofessional. The hotel is in San Lorenzo which is popular with college students and hipsters alike. It's a few blocks away from what the hotel staff described as a bad neighborhood, but I think they took a ton of extreme precautions. After 8pm, they lock the front doors to the hotel. YES - LOCKED. You'll have to ring the bell and bang on the door, and even then, the front desk person might ignore you, making the assumption that it's a drunk passerby just playing a prank. So bizarre. We ended up waiting 15 minutes and then getting ID'ed as if we were trying to get into an exclusive night club before getting in to the hotel that we paid good money for. I'll stop here because even thinking about this experience gets me agitated. For more than 120 euros per night, you would think they had a better system organized here. The rooms were okay... roomy but outdated and totally dark. 0 windows! The bathrooms were very clean and extremely spacious. I'd give this hotel one star if it wasn't for the spacious rooms and decent front desk person working in the earlier hours. He was pretty helpful in giving us directions and letting us know which routes to take if we chose to walk to local attractions. Those factors were the only saving grace here. Book at your own risk.
