It is worth looking in Gee Jays before buying anything from B&Q or similar places. They have stock clearance items and regular stock as well. The stock varies widely and is regularly updated to accommodate seasonal stock. If you are doing a spot of DIY I imagine you can get everything from here, as they have paint, brushes and cleaning equipment. The main downsides to this shop are: 1) Parking, there are a few spaces on the road outside, but the shop is a 5 min walk out of town; 2) Accessibilty with wheelchair, pram or similar. I find it hard to navigate a pram around, so have to make arrangements to go there on my own.

Does equipment hire and acts as an agent for home improvement contractors. Has a wide range of small animals including rabbits, mice, gerbils and hamsters, also birds, fish and reptiles. Sells food for lots of animals. Acts as an agent for Spondon Dry Cleaners. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I have tried to buy some offcuts of wood in the past and they refused to let me pay. Parking is available at the front of the store, but is generally busy. Great shop.

It's a real Alladin's cave selling absolutely everything you could ever need, and quite a lot that you could probably live without as well! Staff are friendly and some of the time it appears that they look just as lost as the customers in there! On the whole, it is a really useful little place to have in the town. A Wilkinsons opened recently which I think have taken a lot of business away from Brian's which is a shame as they're a bit of a Brigg institution, but hopefully they'll survive and continue to give the good service they have done for years.

I quite like this store because it has a lot of things which are cheaper than other shops such as…read moreB&Q and even tesco. The DIY parts that they sell are very similar to leading brands but in minimalistic packaging to save money. The set up of the shop is pretty normal and everything is ina relevant place and so it is easy to find. Wilkinson is accessible from institute lane in Alfreton and also from the opposite end where there is a car park. I worked here for my work experience and i quite enjoyed it because all the staff were friendly and helpful. The majority of the staff are women. More often than not there is a queue because there is only one or two tills on.
