    Old Sport with potato salad
    Arlene N.

Perfect fuel when training for a marathon. Been wanting to try B&Ts for awhile now finally tried it through DoorDash. I loved adding the sun dried tomato's to the Old Sport. The potato salad was tasty as well. Everything was fresh and high quality. Need to try the other sandwiches on the menu asap.

Love this deli! Plant based, creative flavors, fresh ingredients, and delicious! Highly recommend this place for all of your sando needs!

As a SGV native, I admittedly don't make the trek to Santa Monica very often, but I have had B&T's Deli on my list of places to try for a very long time. My husband and I finally got the chance to stop in last week, and let me just say, we were absolutely blown away. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and received the best customer service. The individual working and taking orders was genuinely so kind and welcoming to every individual that came in the store. Unfortunately these days the art of customer service and human kindness seems to be a dying art, but it really seems that B&T's Deli authentically prioritizes this often missing part. Customer service aside, I am not sure there are proper words to describe how good the food is here. The sandwiches are hands down the best we've had in LA. I am gluten free, and let me just tell you, the gluten free bread here is UNREAL. I truly don't understand any of the complaints from other reviews because it is truly the best gluten free bread I've ever had. You can't even tell it is gluten free to the point that I made my husband go up to the counter and double-check because I was in disbelief. Inside the sandwiches, the ingredients are intentionally-curated, fresh, whole foods that are assembled with a lot of care. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. We ordered the Wanda, the Goddaughter, and a side of the cannellini bean salad. Everything was truly 10/10. I couldn't think of a way to make the meal better. I've seen reviews complain about the price, but I truly feel like the money is worth it for the quality of food you get here. B&T's Deli is one of my new favorite spots. I will easily brave LA traffic to get my hands on these sandwiches. I can't wait to go back!

I've been eyeballing this deli on yelp for some time now and realized it was in the area where i work. i decided to check it out after work one day. it's a small little deli right next to Rori's ice cream and parking can be hard to come by. upon entering they have a ticket number dispenser like they do at grocery stores. we went up to the counter and the lady who took our order was nice and informative. i played it safe and ordered the old sport. i did read reviews about the minimal chickpea salad put on the sandwich. however, i asked if i wanted to add more is that an option to and the lady said yes. the flavor overall was decent but i needed more salt and maybe a little pepper. i also would've appreciated more peperoncinos (im assuming those were on there) for that spice factor. the bread was very fresh and so were the ingredients as a whole which i absolutely loved! they also didn't have a wide selection of chips when I arrived but it was the middle of the day so no harm, no foul. overall the experience was pleasant but if i do order again, i may just take it home and doctor it up to my likings. it wasn't too loud in the deli either and there are tables to sit outside and an area to sit inside as well. i'd rate this place a 6.5/10!

OMG. I'm not even vegan but these sandwiches might have changed my mind, you don't even miss the meat! Everything is very flavorful, I can't wait to go back and try more. This little shop is perfect, from the stylish decor to the cute merchandise, and their sweet dog who loves friends! The owners are so sweet and helpful also!!

Not worth it. The service was friendly, but reallyyyy slow. They also advertise having focaccia on Saturdays which they didn't have on the Saturday that I went. The sandwich was hardly filled at all and they put the tiniest bit of the chickpea salad on it, which is the only ingredient that could potentially come close to making it cost $22. Eating it was a soggy mess. Super disappointing and outrageously overpriced. Worth a shot if you're vegan and have no other options I guess.

I've been wanting to try this place since they opened, and finally had an excuse to be down in Santa Monica! I got the deli club on gluten free bread and it was so yummy! I don't know how they get the gf bread so perfect the mushrooms were a little tough but I think they're really going for the meaty bacon vibe. It'd be cool if they were chopped into smaller pieces! I also got a delicious gf chocolate chip cookie. This place truly lives up to the hype! The pictures don't do it justice - the sandwiches are actually quite big and satisfying. Everything is expensive these days, but I feel all the little touches (the little sandwich name stickers on the branded paper are too cute), house-made clean ingredients, and kind service make the price point worth it. Non-vegans who are used to artificial flavors and msg will probably not enjoy the food here as much, but that's okay. They have many other options to choose from compared to vegans/vegetarians. Btw there is plenty of parking on the nearby streets and a crosswalk right near the deli!

Had a great experience at B&T's! It's a super cute spot and the staff is so wonderful! They are also dog friendly. They have some indoor and outdoor seating available. You can build your own sandwich or choose from their menu of sandwiches. They have a stamp card that if you try each sandwich on the menu, you can redeem for some of their super cute merch! We ended up getting The Old Sport, The Hot Tottie, and a potato and pasta salad. The sandwiches were good, but pricey. The potato and pasta salads were so delicious and would get again. Loved how refreshing and packed with flavor they were! If you're looking for imitation plant-based mock-meats, this isn't the place. Their fillings are made with ingredients like eggplant, potato, chickpeas, mushroom, etc. so it feels healthier and I wouldn't feel bad about eating a deli sandwich every day from B&T's. Parking is metered but easy to find. We came on a Sunday and meter parking in front was free.

My husband and I stopped in here after a fun pottery class at Art Barro. It's situated on the cute and lively street of Montana Ave, there's plenty of street parking within walking distance. I've been wanting to try this place for so long since it's a vegan deli! The store itself is adorable and kept immaculately clean. My husband ordered a build your own sandwich with chickpea salad and dill. My husband is not vegan and even so and considering all of the other sandwich shops, it's his favorite sandwich in all of LA. You could really taste how fresh all of the ingredients are. I ordered the Bertie - which has truffle cheese and leeks. It's not super cheesy in a traditional way but tastes more creamy and herbal. The bread has that satisfying crunch on the outside. The service was phenomenal - there was one guy on the line (I wish I knew his name) but he was super friendly and ensured our sandwiches were made with care. We can't wait to come back and try other sandwiches!

    The Peter

I was picking up a Facebook marketplace right around the corner and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try this place out. I ended up getting the Peter, which is a mushroom based sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed the spread that it came with and I also loved the bread. I like that the sandwich was substantial, but it wasn't overbearing. It seems like a place that the locals frequent. I took my sandwich to go to eat it at the grassy area in front of Santa Monica Beach and it was a great idea 10/10 recommend!!

Friendly service from the few times I've been here. Note: make sure to grab a number as they go by the numbering system pay attention cause sometimes they might skip you Got the old sport, which is a chickpea salad sandwich. It was fresh and good but was it worth $20 no it wasn't. The Pegasus or The Peter looks good but unsure if I'd be willing to spend $20 for another sandwich. Ambiance was clean plus they had outdoor seating too. There's parking in the back or metered on Montana.

The Brunch Club Sandwich and Tepache
    Sara Z.

I always love a good sandwich and B&T's DELIVERED!!! I got the Brunch Club Sandwich and it tasted very fresh and yummy. Definitely recommend it! I am very happy that there is a new sandwich place on Montana Avenue. It was very much needed. B&T's has a fun Jewish deli vibe with good food and good service! Just to note...the food here is all plant based so if you're looking for real meat then this isn't the place for you. I personally eat meat, but I am always down to try a good plant based alternative and I was very happy with my sandwich. I can't wait to try more of their sandwiches!

    The Pegasus
    Lakshmi C.

Wow! What an incredible concept! Have you heard of a fully plant-based deli with a plethora of sandwich options? We hadn't until we chanced upon this one in Santa Monica! Love their innovative menu, fresh & flavorful sandos, yummy spreads, great service and modern decor. It's a clean, lovely deli that caters to all dietary needs - they have sandwiches that mimic meat-loving folks, but they also cater to health conscious vegans who prefer to eat plant-based. Hubby & I got the Pegasus - it was perfectly packed and labeled (mine sans onion). Very tasty overall, though I might try the other options the next time around. I found myself picking out some olives & pepperoncini as it was too strong for me. The bread was a tad too chewy but that could just be me. I'm still very enthusiastic to keep returning as I'm delighted with this fully vegan deli with so options to pick from! Please note that they are closed Mondays & Tuesdays!!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and even without a reservation, they were able to seat us right away. Definitely 5 stars for service and not being rude, but friendly and attentive even at a busy time (World Cup was on tv!). I heard alllll about the happy hour specials so I was stoked when we were able to get the best outdoor seating and the happy hour was going on until 7pm he said. So naturally, ordered a bunch of things to try. Unfortunately, that was a solid 3 stars for me. It was just fine. I was actually bummed because I was so excited to try the menu items. They were okay. Ordered sliders (kinda dry and without flavor), Parmesan fries (seasoning was there but not very flavorful and the sauce was bland, the krab rangoons resembled egg rolls (that was new!) and fish tacos were meh. My friend ordered the chicken and it came with fries (the dish not happy hour selection) and that looks more substantial but maybe not worth $32. The drink was sweet (pink lady). Outdoor vibes were cool and def a great spot at the end of 3rd street but probably wouldn't come here for the food. Again, indoor (big tv!!) and outdoor set up was awesome, but food is just okay. Great for large groups but make a reservation!

Pros: + Good service + Clean place + Lots of vegetarian and vegan options + The Thai Fried Chicken was delicious and balanced! + Food presentation was excellent Cons: - Food was dry. - The Endive Cups were dense and needed some sauce. - The Mung Bean Croquette - although not bad - felt more like a fast food item; it too was dry and although the sauce and presentation were nice, it's not something to re-order. - The Meang Kham wasn't bad either, I appreciated the different flavors but for the price - as an appetizer - no. - The biggest negative were the prices. They were set as upscale, and fine dining, but the place was just average and the foods - at least what we ordered - not that good. Granted there were many options and the others might have been better, but I get the feeling this place is more about the food presentation rather than the quality of the food focused. For ~$100 (3 appetizers and 1 main entree) I left somewhat hungry. I feel there are hole-in-the wall vegan/vegetarian places that would be much better. It's a nice place but it's more show than substance (given the costs). 3.5/5

While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). Tastes so fresh, hearty, with just enough of a kick to it. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes, too. The burger that the table near us ordered looked fantastic.
