We also had the chance to meet the two owners (a woman and her partner), who were so friendly and incredibly sweet to our daughter -- such a nice touch that made the visit even more memorable. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the ingredients are refreshingly simple. I really appreciate that they don't use fake processed meats -- they keep it straightforward, yet the sandwiches are still outstanding. The bread deserves a mention too: crisp on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. I rarely hand out five stars, but they've earned it here. We finally made the trek to north Montana! We ordered the Peter and Wanda. I liked the Wanda more. The eggplant in the Peter was a little heavy handed on the salt or soy sauce. I loved the caramelized onions and mushrooms in Wanda. The bread was top 10 breads we've tried. The lettuce was crispy and the tomatoes had a bite. The $20 sandwiches are a little sticker shocking considering there is no protein. Maybe the cheeses are made from nuts. I would definitely appreciate like a marinated tofu slice or even slab or tempeh with the existing dressings/sauces. The old sport had the chickpeas so we'll get that next time. After a very disappointing experience here during their soft launch, I decided to order here and give B&T's a second chance. I'm still disappointed. The one thing that has improved is that there is actually a decent amount of ingredients on the sandwich, which I appreciate compared to the meager fillings previously. The biggest issue today was SALT. I am someone who loves salt and is not generally sensitive to it, but the saltiness of the eggplant on the Wanda sandwich. That, along with some sogginess (despite receiving my sandwich right when it was made and consuming it within 10-15 minutes after) made my lunch experience like eating a sandwich that had fallen into the ocean. I ended up having to remove the eggplant it was so salty. It tastes like they use soy sauce or tamari to marinate it, and need to switch to a low sodium version ASAP. The other issue that will probably preclude me ever returning was watching the guy working the counter today break several food handling rules, the most notable and disgusting being that he took off one of his gloves, laid it on a counter outside of the food prep area by the register, picked the glove back up with his ungloved hand, put it on and recommenced making food. This is unsanitary and against all basic food handling rules (and also common sense). I hope someone from the management here reads this and gives their employees a refresher on basic food safety guidelines. Please. Not going to potentially jeopardize my health for a disappointing meal, so I won't be back. read more

As a SGV native, I admittedly don't make the trek to Santa Monica very often, but I have had B&T's Deli on my list of places to try for a very long time. My husband and I finally got the chance to stop in last week, and let me just say, we were absolutely blown away. The individual working and taking orders was genuinely so kind and welcoming to every individual that came in the store. Unfortunately these days the art of customer service and human kindness seems to be a dying art, but it really seems that B&T's Deli authentically prioritizes this often missing part. Customer service aside, I am not sure there are proper words to describe how good the food is here. The sandwiches are hands down the best we've had in LA. I am gluten free, and let me just tell you, the gluten free bread here is UNREAL. I truly don't understand any of the complaints from other reviews because it is truly the best gluten free bread I've ever had. You can't even tell it is gluten free to the point that I made my husband go up to the counter and double-check because I was in disbelief. Inside the sandwiches, the ingredients are intentionally-curated, fresh, whole foods that are assembled with a lot of care. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. We ordered the Wanda, the Goddaughter, and a side of the cannellini bean salad. Everything was truly 10/10. I couldn't think of a way to make the meal better. I've seen reviews complain about the price, but I truly feel like the money is worth it for the quality of food you get here. B&T's Deli is one of my new favorite spots. I've been eyeballing this deli on yelp for some time now and realized it was in the area where i work. i decided to check it out after work one day. it's a small little deli right next to Rori's ice cream and parking can be hard to come by. upon entering they have a ticket number dispenser like they do at grocery stores. we went up to the counter and the lady who took our order was nice and informative. i played it safe and ordered the old sport. i did read reviews about the minimal chickpea salad put on the sandwich. however, i asked if i wanted to add more is that an option to and the lady said yes. the flavor overall was decent but i needed more salt and maybe a little pepper. i also would've appreciated more peperoncinos (im assuming those were on there) for that spice factor. the bread was very fresh and so were the ingredients as a whole which i absolutely loved! they also didn't have a wide selection of chips when I arrived but it was the middle of the day so no harm, no foul. overall the experience was pleasant but if i do order again, i may just take it home and doctor it up to my likings. it wasn't too loud in the deli either and there are tables to sit outside and an area to sit inside as well. i'd rate this place a 6.5/10! read more

Not worth it. The service was friendly, but reallyyyy slow. They also advertise having focaccia on Saturdays which they didn't have on the Saturday that I went. The sandwich was hardly filled at all and they put the tiniest bit of the chickpea salad on it, which is the only ingredient that could potentially come close to making it cost $22. I've been wanting to try this place since they opened, and finally had an excuse to be down in Santa Monica! I got the deli club on gluten free bread and it was so yummy! Had a great experience at B&T's! It's a super cute spot and the staff is so wonderful! They are also dog friendly. They have some indoor and outdoor seating available. You can build your own sandwich or choose from their menu of sandwiches. They have a stamp card that if you try each sandwich on the menu, you can redeem for some of their super cute merch! We ended up getting The Old Sport, The Hot Tottie, and a potato and pasta salad. The sandwiches were good, but pricey. The potato and pasta salads were so delicious and would get again. Loved how refreshing and packed with flavor they were! If you're looking for imitation plant-based mock-meats, this isn't the place. Their fillings are made with ingredients like eggplant, potato, chickpeas, mushroom, etc. so it feels healthier and I wouldn't feel bad about eating a deli sandwich every day from B&T's. My husband and I stopped in here after a fun pottery class at Art Barro. It's situated on the cute and lively street of Montana Ave, there's plenty of street parking within walking distance. I've been wanting to try this place for so long since it's a vegan deli! The store itself is adorable and kept immaculately clean. My husband ordered a build your own sandwich with chickpea salad and dill. My husband is not vegan and even so and considering all of the other sandwich shops, it's his favorite sandwich in all of LA. You could really taste how fresh all of the ingredients are. It's their soft opening so things are still coming together, but credit to them for making good sandwiches in a timely fashion and a friendly manner. I had The Wanda, described as "The one for the carnivores. Soon to be your roast beef replacement." It's marinated eggplant with horseradish aioli, lettuce, tomato, onion, & Calabrian chilis on a sourdough roll. I love eggplant, and this is tasty, though I wish the eggplant was piled high like a roast beef deli sandwich. The Susie Green is made with a delicious Jyan Isaac bagel topped with cellery root "whitefish" salad with lemon, capers, dill, onion, and heirloom tomatoes. Overall a pretty good sandwich spot. Mato Monster with big juicy ripe tomatoes on sourdough bread (just reminded me of an old school garden fresh tomato sandwich with sprouts). Susie Green celery root "whitefish" salad on a Jean Issac bagel had a just the right amount of acidity to it, it really doesn't take like whitefish, but is does taste good! Goddaughter with marinated eggplant on a sourdough roll was straightforward and flavorful. I had The Old Sport that was chic pea-centric. It was generally good. Yes, there could have been more ingredients in the sandwich but my disappointment was the bread. On its own it was a good, fresh sourdough hoagie-type of roll but in a sandwich it was not yielding, meaning you had to really bite down hard which consistently resulted in the ingredients spilling off to the sides. I like hearty breads but something a little bit softer would help contain the sandwich contents with each bite. I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years. I've had my fair share of vegetarian and vegan food, and it takes a lot honestly to impress me... I literally remember when the first garden burger came out! I was actually blown away by the garden sandwich today. It is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The service was great, restaurant is cute, the food was epic. From the bread to the marinated mushrooms to the ranch I seriously couldn't believe the flavors. The guy who helped me was nice and funny and kind. He came out from around the counter to hand me my sandwich and look me in the eye. The service was excellent. I live in Santa Clarita and I will make this drive.
