The Western Second Hand Shop is full of beautiful vintage items from furniture to old medicine bottles. There are so many quality items in this store. It is obvious that the storeowner has a great eye and is very particular in selecting items for sale. This is very important when you have a second-hand dealership. When people like myself see that they stock quality items, it just becomes second nature to stop every time you drive past the store. It really set's your business apart from the junky stores. If you are looking for some unique display items for our home, this is the store for you. I found an amazing acrylic deer head barometer for only $30! Oh I love it so much, it is so retro and a real showpiece in my house. Everyone comments on it. There is also a good collection of crockery and glassware in this store as well. I would suggest café owners or restaurant owners to come and have a look if you like to use vintage tableware. And there is one extra feature about this store that makes me say, "shut up and take my money". On their website they list all their items for sale, which you can purchase and pick up at a later day. So if it is a rainy day and you could not be bothered leaving your house; don't worry, jump online and have a browse!

I simply adore these types of stores and therefore Eclat is no exception. For a reasonable price they have some gorgeous items which could be placed around the home or given to someone as a lovely gift. There are plenty of different types of things to choose from, some which will look great in the kids bedroom or some which will look great in the garden. There are some lovely candles which make the store smell divine, which is always an important factor to me when it comes to these stores. This store is on two different "levels" (in other words there are a couple steps in the middle of the store to get to the counter), so be careful of your step. It's easy to get distracted by all the items for sale and to miss your step! Even though I was in Eclat for a little while browsing, the lady at the counter never asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. This necessarily is not a bad thing in my mind because I like browsing to myself and if I need help, I'll ask for it. Though there may be some who think this irritating and rude. I didn't get that vibe.

It is heavily French influenced - pronounced ek-la, Eclat means "the brilliance of the sun", "the radiance of a smile", "the sparkle of diamonds". The building is reminiscent of Parisian architecture, and the things they sell are so impeccably stylish you would have no trouble believing they were French. Inside, you will find a range of eclectic furniture, gifts, cushions, throws, crockery, tableware, rugs, mirrors, lighting, and a range of interesting wall art. It's a really cute place, even if you're not into that sort of stuff, you might find it handy when it comes to buying gifts!

The brands they stock are unkown to me as they're not regular names seen in other furniture stores and not too sure about their durability, so from the surface it all appears to be along the same lines as Le Cornu stocked items. Plus, you'd never know what brand is what as eveything is re-badged, so you can't do price comparissons or get them to price match with other stores, same goes for other stores also. They carry all the furniture items needed to furnish a house and it's cheap to do just that plus it will also serve the purpose of guest room or student homestay needs. Prices are cheap but you get what you pay for.

Where was I going to pick up my wrapping paper, art supplies and toys at such great prices? Thankfully, I discovered the bigger and better store at Mitcham. The staff here have always been helpful and are plentiful enough. I've got to be honest, I've always been a bit of a closet bargain shopper. I don't seek out super cheap for everything, but I can't see the point in paying $5 for a kid's birthday card when I can pick one up for a dollar. The thing is, one by one, people have started saying to me, "I picked this up at Cheap as Chips. Great, eh!?" I reckon maybe, just maybe, it's starting to get a bit of a cult following with people other than the traditional bargain hunters. This place is a great variety store. Often if I can't find it at a supermarket or Big W, it'll be here. Case in point, suction cup hooks that I stick to mirror to hang necklaces, ribbons and my keys - four pack for $2. I've also picked up great containers for school snacks - $2 for three clear round containers with coloured lids, enough to a kid's handful of rice crackers or a small snack of tiny teddies (the packets are still a little big in one sitting for my munchkin). I've bought outdoor bamboo screens, toys, bath mats, dvd cases, a makeup holder, extension cords, christmas lights and a fish tank! All at ridiculously cheap prices. I know it all comes from China and we should support local business, but if you're after a bargain, this is the place and Mitcham has a great range. Oh, another thing worth noting is the website has a great search facility and can tell you the stock levels of products in different stores. Great for when the catalogue comes out.

As Rani mentioned, there are lots of staff, and it isn't too hard to flag one down if you need help. They usually have a couple on at the registers, which is good cause I hate waiting to be served.

I can't say it's a great bargain store, the range of goods isn't spectacular, but it's thorough - the store isn't particularly big, but there is plenty of convenient parking close to it as it's down the far end of the shopping centre itself. I've been there quite a few times - it's fairly close to home at a centre the family and I frequent, and it's a good fallback when the kids are desperate to burn some pocket money, or you have those everyday needs that you can save some money by using a bargain stores products.

In fact, it's almost a bit of an antique store. In amongst tools and hardware of all sorts are wall hooks, books, tables, teacups and evena spinning wheel! There were a number of things which caught my eye, in particular a gorgeous blue table and some large metal flowers. Everything looked clean and in good shape for selling. Though not necessarily cheap, their prices seemed reasonable to me given the quality of mose of the wares. If you are looking for tools, this is a good place to go - they have heaps. There were many shovels and garden tools, some ladders etc. I would recommend this place if you are looking to redecorate your home or add a rustic feeling. I also suggest checking out this little gem if you love vintage shopping! There is a relaxed, quirky atmosphere and plently of eye-catching wares! The owners were lovely to talk to, and happy to show me around the shop. I really liked how this adds to the little bundle of business in Woodside. It feels right at home and being a little different to most second-hand stores in the area gives it a bit of an edge. It definitely suits the atmosphere of the Adelaide Hills. It is on the main street, but set back, so keep that in mind or you might walk straight past it! Highly recommend going for a browse! Loved it.

It's much bigger inside than it appears from the street, wrapping behind Breadtop in an 'L' shape with another entrance into the Southern Cross Arcade. Pick up a cheap lunch and make an outing of it! It's a standout destination for budget seasonal stuff: costumes, part supplies, decorations etc. And they also have plenty of other stuff, Cheapo tools, economical stationary, low cost-luggage... Tends to have lower prices than Cheap as Chips downstairs, so check this place first.

I have actually found things for less here than at the closely located Cheap As Chips, which is pretty much directly (underneath) next door. If that's even possible! Their competitively cheap prices came as a slight surprise because the store lacks the "Walmart Syndrome"- a reference that makes greater sense for those of you who watch South Park. It is slightly refreshing not to shop somewhere that is a massive chain with bulk-like slim prices! Underdogs all the way. Oh yeah, expect anything and everything in here. A twenty dollar note will get you a long way!

On…read moreentering your eyes will light up, looks like a modern apartment store, with helpful staff wanting to assist you. There is such an assortment to look at. From men's and ladies, designer clothing, big range of smart footwear, lots of fashion accessories, kitchen ware, China, glass wear, books and the range just goes on. Every thing is well displayed, in a very presentable fashion, many items are new, yet the prices are extremely affordable. If you have never been to this Op Shop in my opinion it is well worth a visit.

Honestly, it feels like shopping in a boutique. I walked away the other day with two formal dresses (long and elegant) for under $40! I love being able to support great charity work and find great bargains. Will be one of my new regular op shops I think.
