Since a really long time we wanted to come here for trivia and because their timings were 8pm beyond it was never to be on cards until now that they moved it down to 7.30pm and we took a team there. I took a flight of meads and all were good with staff being very passionate about each one of them. Trivia host is great, he kept the audience engaged. I however like the paper version of quizzo better. There is absolutely no food options unless they're hosting a food truck or so which they don't do it every day. Snacks like bagged chips may be available but you can also bring your own food from outside. Now the trivia enthusiasts we are, we will probably not make this as our destination but instead go elsewhere because most of the crowd seemed a little too drunk that we personally couldn't enjoy much but that is just my personal opinion because it is still a very popular place with lot of events they have over the week. We may come back for a tasting experience but maybe not for an extended time stay like trivia. Although people who enjoy meads this will be a very good place to go to. read more

We came for the Always Sunny in Philadelphia Trivia. I am not much of a mead drinker so I wasn't sure what to expect. They had a variety though and it's easy to find one you like! The staff was super friendly and the trivia host had us all bellowing with laughter. It was a very fun night! They do not serve food but do have food trucks that come by. Unfortunately the food truck was late and we were leaving as they were setting up. Really fun Meadery! Came here for one of their karaoke nights and tried some of their different meads. Really cool crowd that comes out and the service is really good. There's a good amount of small table and high top seating as well as a medium sized bar top. Even for karaoke, there was a back room to the left when you walk in if you didn't want to to be blasted y the speakers. Really liked the time here and will definitely come back! read more

I came here with a group for our monthly euchre get together, which means we reserve several tables for a few hours. They were very accommodating and gave us a corner all to ourselves with enough room for our group. I don't usually drink cider or mead, so I sampled a few until I settled on one I liked. It was the punk lemonade, I got the 10 oz size, and while I still didn't 'love' it, it was good enough to drink for the night. The interior is a bit stark, but it was fine for our gathering. No food, but they let you bring in your own, so we ordered pizza and some of us brought snacks to share. The waitstaff came around a lot to check on us, so points for that. The place was virtually empty though, except for us, so maybe that's why! We had fun posing with the Danny Devito cutout. Perhaps they should (or maybe they do) rotate celebrities every month. We always collect $5 from everyone to tip the waitstaff extra well, when we tried to give it to the staff they said they don't accept tips! So they said they would give it to a charity. Nice touch. We once a upon a time tried one of their bottles of mead from a bottle shop so I made plans to come here if we were ever in the Detroit area. I do not regret making our plans work so we were able to come here while they were open (Wed-Sun only). We came in the last hour before they closed one night and they still served us which was much appreciated after not finding places to eat as it was too late and most places have closed. While we couldn't find places to eat, we managed to make it here before they closed and had two flights. The bartender was very nice and knew the mead and ciders very well. She offered us tastes if we wanted, and has very good taste because I loved everything she recommended to us. In fact, we came back the day after to try the rest of the menu that wasn't part of the flights. They allow you to bring in food so we brought in two Detroit style pizzas to eat while drinking. We walked away with a howler, and 3-4 4 packs of various meads and ciders. Came here for trivia last night. I hadn't been here in years. Service was slow at first despite sitting at the bar. It seems the bartender was more interested in socializing. There was barely anyone in there when we arrived so they weren't especially busy. It did get better, and I really like the drinks there. They don't have food but you can bring in carry out. They don't accept tips, but they do offer an option to add a donation for an organization (I couldn't hear which one, she did explain it to my bf). It should explained that it's a donation and not gratuity on the tablet or be explained by the bartender because it's confusing. I had a good time until the very end of the night. I hadn't realize they closed because no one gave a warning, until the bartender loudly SCREAMED "we've been closed for 15 minutes, we'd like to go home too". It really took me off guard because it was so unprofessional. To be clear, I have no problem with them telling people they're closed and to try to get going but to not give notice and then yell and complain like that wasn't called for. Sadly I hadn't heard of this place until I recently bought a 4-pack at a local liquor store in Jackson. It happened to be a 4-pack of the Punk Lemonade. All things seemed to be aligning as I was planning on making a trip to Ferndale for something else and decided to add this place to the mix. All of the meads/ciders had nice flavors and of course I had some favorites. Flights seem to be the best way to go or rather get as many 5 ounces as you want to find what tickles your fancy. I wasn't a huge fan of the slushy's. The flavor profile didn't translate very well for me this route. You can get just 5 oz as well for those to see if like them. The atmosphere was chill and nice. We arrived around 7:30 and it was already packed, which is understandable, but there were chairs and we had to kind of create a table ourselves, which was fine. They wanted a card on file and failed to tell me that there was a $25 fee just a card on file I feel that the staff should have mentioned that before just taking it and charging it I informed the bar staff that I was going to pay with a different card and that I didn't want to be charged another holding fee on that card. Very chill and laid back atmosphere, kinda like hanging out and drinking in the basement of your coolest friend. And that's what the bartenders are like, your coolest friend. The flights here are exceptional because of the amazing variety and unique flavors offered. If your not a fan of mead or cider they usually have one beer on tap. I think the prices are very reasonable. Aside from the many selections on draft they also have crowlers and a small retail area to take bottles home. Some of the ciders that are aged in the burbon barrels have a pretty high abv so make sure to keep that in mind. In the area yesterday so we decided to drop in. My husband really loves Meads and we've been wanting to try B. Nektar for awhile now. Inside is a very laid back relaxed atmosphere. They have a shelf with various games and TV's around as well. We were limited on time so our visit was short and sweet just like the Meads we had. We tried a small flight and everything was delicious. We sampled the Slice of Life Cider, The Apple Pi with Crust Mead and the Necro Mead. The Ginger in the Slice of Life cider was good but strong as it burned my throat a bit. But any good Ginger drink will do that. I gave them only three stars because the bartender was a bit rude and not personable in the least. I'd probably come back and try again when I have more time to hang out but I will think twice due to the unpleasantness of the staff and the over all unwelcoming treatment we received. read more

We live down the road from this place and finally got a chance to check it out. It is a great spot with a nice selection of beverages. If mead is too sweet for you, they also have cider -- and wine I believe. The crew was very warm and friendly, but the service can be a bit slow. While they have board games, I believe they could offer a bit more. There is a large space to the left of the entrance that would accommodate a couple of pinball machines, or a pool table. or some dart boards. My son turned 21 and wanted to come here. We were a group of 7 and visited at 6:00 pm on a Sunday. There were probably 4 other tables with patrons. First thing out of the server's mouth was "we need a credit card before I can take your order". I have never heard of such a thing. Asking for payment after fulfiling the order is acceptable but never before even taking the order. It's not like we were going to run out but who knows, maybe unsavory types frequent this establishment. I love this place! It is a little hidden gem outside of downtown Ferndale. When you're driving there you'll likely think you've made a wrong turn but fear not, the random industrial park you are driving through does contain this lovely spot. I was introduced to mead a few months ago and I am a big fan. B Nektar has some interesting flavor combinations and the names are unique and fun. You've probably seen their most popular one "zombie killer" which is actually more of a cider on local restaurant menus. My favorite is "kill all the golfers" which tastes like a spiked Arnold Palmer and a close second is "Tuco style freak out" which is very margarita like. So delicious. You can build your own flight or order by the glass. They have several different meads, a few ciders and 3 beers including one IPA. Some other fun facts. They do not accept tips. They encourage board games, they have several there or you can bring your own. We brought our own and had a great time. They have live trivia a couple nights a week which seems fun. I love bees. I think they're the most fascinating, brilliant creatures. I also really love honey. Not just because it's sweet and delicious but also because it's made by these little striped powerhouses I love so much. So, being that I love bees and I love honey I'm already set to love mead. But like everything some places do it better than others and B. Nektar does it REAL good. First off--they are extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the process but they are also super creative. They've got flavors like the cysers (mead made with apple cider), bourbon barrel mead (aged in..you guessed it--bourbon barrels!), Ethiopian Harrar made with Ethiopian coffee beans, a margarita style mead made with agave nectar and plenty of lime juice and zest, and plenty more (both limited edition and regular line ups) to choose from. Around the holidays I pick up bottles of the vanilla cinnamon and give them to friends/family as gifts, in the summertime a glass of orange blossom is heavenly. It really is perfect at any time of the year. Luckily for me I have a few places around me that sell their mead but you can also buy it right here at the Meadery (or order from their website). If you want to try a bit before you commit you can visit them during one of their mead tastings which are held various Fridays throughout the month (check their site for dates). The space isn't huge and I'm sincerely impressed by how much they've accomplished given those restrictions. But these folks at B. Nektar seem to love what they do and, given that they just celebrated their 3rd birthday (with a killer party I might add) I'm fairly certain they're in it to win it. And considering they're putting out consistently amazing product and expanding their market to more and more states as the days go on, I think they're well on their way! read more

I'm extremely picky when it comes to beer (I usually don't like beer) and so I was excited to try out B. Nektar, which primarily has mead and cider. I got a flight of three meads/ciders and enjoyed them all, which for me is super rare. I came here for a board games Meetup tonight and was glad to have an excuse to finally make it to B. Nektar. It's located down a random side street off of 9 Mile, close to 75, so if you don't know where you're going, you will probably miss it. The place itself is huge and has ample parking off to the side. I got the Necromangocon, the Zombie Killer (cider), and The Dude's Rug. Necromangocon ended up being my favorite, despite all the Zombie Killer recommendations from friends, and The Dude's Rug was probably my least fave (a chai cider) although still tasty; I had tried a chai cider in San Diego a few months ago too and liked that one as well. B. Nektar sells ciders by the bottles (I will definitely be back to buy some!) and also does trivia on Thursday nights, it seems. They also had a mead with a reference to Breaking Bad, I believe (called "Tuco-style Freakout") which was awesome. Great place and I will be back at some point! They are in an industrial area, and the business is located in an old machine shop, but in spite of all that .... you don't need to wear a suit and tie to get in (grin!) Friendly service, decent prices for their products, and the mead is honestly good! Talk to your server and they will make recommendations based upon your taste. All Hail B. Nektar Meadery! My husband, brother-in-law, and I were looking for some drinks before dinner, and found this in a search query. I should start by saying that I adore bees, which may bias my review, but my company agreed with me, and they have no such affinities. Anyway, I digress. The beverages = amazing. There is a HUGE variety of meads - draft and still - in addition to some ciders and even a beer or two for those who want it. We did a flight of 10 meads, all of which were delicious (seriously, we did not dislike a single one). The bartenders were super patient and helpful as we tried to narrow down our choices, and one even went above and beyond to locate me an unused bottle cap for collection purposes; much appreciated. The interior is stunning as well. There is the typical bar counter area, a more open space with varying table sizes for groups to hang out, and an entire other room that looks like great gatsby hooked up with a cigar lounge/poker game and had a baby. Lastly, I noticed some advertisements for trivia and other events that seem to happen with some regularity, giving B. Nektar a community vibe that I think every brewery/meadery would benefit by having. All in all, I adored everything about this place. They even had good wifi so in theory, one can get work done while enjoying a libation. If I were living in the Detroit area, I would 100% make this a normal stomping ground. Cool tap room and great mead! I've had B Nekar mead before at various restaurants that were carrying bottles, but this was my first time visiting the taproom in Ferndale. It's actually kind of hard to find since it's off the main road and kind of hidden near Wanda Park amongst other industrial/warehouse buildings. Stopped in right when they opened on the weekend and decided on a flight of Mead so I could try different kinds. I tried: * Necromangocon * Apricot cardamom * Black Fang * Zombie Killer * Dwarf Invasion My favorites were the Necromangocon, Zombile Killer and Dwarf Invasion. I later found out the latter two were their most famous and popular ones, and I did end up buying a bottle of each before leaving. They were delicious. The Apricot Cardamom and Black Fang were good but the cardamom was almost nonexistent and the Black Fang had hints of clove that were very over powering. Overall we had a fun time there; it got pretty crowded when a cycling crew came through, but we were able to chill, drink some mead and play some games! I will defintiely be back :) read more

My favorite beers (meads included) are the Death Unicorn, Zombie Killer and Apple Pi. The Death Unicorn is a little more tart, which I love. My son and his girlfriend were visiting from "home" and he wanted to hit up B Nektar. I couldn't for the life of me understand why till he told me it was one of the brands he represented through Imperial Beverage and it was right around the corner from my house. I'm SO happy I went with them on the second trip! I've never had Mead before, thinking it to be like beer if which I'm not a fan. This honey wine is INCREDIBLE. So not beer. We sampled several flavors and my hands down favorite is Necro. Made with mango and black pepper it's got the perfect Blend of sweet with a hot little bite. Some Meijer stores (in west Michigan at least) carry Necro, Zombie Killer and a few other flavors. But AT B Nektar, they not only sell bottles, they also have mead on draft that you can purchase in refillable howlers. Yum, yum and yum. The night we were there was karaoke night, even the bartender rocked a song. They've also got a bookshelf of board games to play. Fantastic place to go with a group of friends. (Now to get some friends...humm... ) B Nektar is friendly and FUN. Exactly the combination I was expecting from the whole town when I moved to Ferndale. I think I'd feel comfortable coming here by myself on a busy night and sitting at the bar. People here are NICE. I started coming here last year and I was immediately impressed. From the atmosphere to the staff, I loved it. I tried the mead flight to get an idea of what I liked (I never had mead before!) and I loved everything on it. My absolute favorite is The Dude's Rug. It was unlike anything I drank before. Then Necro, Blood Amulet, New Wave Lemonade, Believe, Shadow Thicket, Core Crusher, etc... I'm not a beer drinker and I'm finicky with ciders, but I've never had anything I dislike at B. Nektar. I love it enough that I got married here! I've been doing mead pick ups, but once the quarantine is lifted I can't wait to spend some more time here.
