I was Yelp Elite for nearly a decade, but have since gotten too busy and distracted to be writing reviews. Every once in awhile an experience so either inspires me or irritates me that I'm motivated to return. I've lived in Boulder a long time, but recently moved to this side of town. I was looking to discover a new local wine shop to frequent, and although we got off to a rocky start, I was beginning to think this place could be my go-to. I typically buy a case of wine at a time. I've been in maybe 4x for cases, and a handful of other times for the one-off bottle here or there. I'm a health care worker and the last few months have been rough. I was driving by the other day in the brief period I have between work (stressful) and home (small child not in school), and realized I was overdue to refill my wine stock. I had a particularly challenging day and was near tears. Perusing wine is a happy distraction, and I thought I just had enough time -about 30 minutes, to pick out a case and a few bottles of liqueur. I had to cram a phone call into this time as well. I hurry in and the place has one customer in it. It's mid-afternoon on a weekday. I notice the sign on the door that says they have a 3 customer limit. Seems low to me, but good deal, they're trying to be safe. I spend about 20 minutes going back and forth between various wine sections trying to choose my case. I have 7 bottles in my cart, but I'm struggling with the last few because their selection is pretty picked over. They don't have most of the bottles I typically get, and their selection between $20 and $30 is much lower than usual. I suddenly look up to the usual young short-haired blonde woman with an angry, self-righteous expression on her face. She tells me I'm taking too long, I need to end my phone call and check out right now. I tell her I'm trying to pick out a case. She says there's a line of people trying to come in and I need to get out to make room for them. I'm mortified. In my sad-haze, I've been rude by spending too much time in the store! People are waiting for me! I quickly end my phone call, and rush up to the front where I discover the following. There is no line. There is one other person in the store who is checking out before me, so I wait in line for them to finish. The employee is laughing and chatting with the woman about how much business they are doing during COVID, and how much money they are making. There's about 10 different ways she could have alerted me to any worry she may have had that I was taking too long without lying and being rude. I guess this shop is doing so well on the backs of everyone's stress, isolation, depression and anxiety during COVID that they feel they can afford to lose customers. And since there's at least 3 other wine shops in Boulder with a great selection where the employees have always been kind and helpful, luckily I'll be in good hands. read more

This is an amazing place to get liquor for a big event. They have amazing customer service. Sarah helped me out during our wedding. I had so many changes throughout the process and she made the liquor changes all the way up to the day they delivered it. She had to update the list and price every time. They are extremely accommodating and we really loved how we could return all unopened liquor. Thank you B Town for a wonderful experience. read more

I love this store! It has an excellent selection of alcoholic beverages, and knowledgeable staff. I believe they have the best lineup of Mezcal I've seen in the area. Sara(h) is very knowledgeable about her stock, especially grapes-based concoctions. Any time I've asked for a recommendation, she has steered me toward items which have become my favorites. As one reviewer said, the "'Surprise me' route" works every time. Whenever I hear or read about a special spirit I've never tried, I go to B-Town first because the chances are they carry it. I appreciate the doggie cashier, who pops his head up from behind the counter to say hello. I believe biscuit tips are relished. I also appreciate that they are still enforcing COVID protocols and wearing face masks. I feel much safer shopping there because customers are required to wear masks. B-town gives disposable masks to those who forgot to bring their own. It is unfortunate that some individuals are not mature or civil enough to abide by simple rules designed to protect others. read more

I discovered this place a couple of years ago and wish I had found it sooner. This has to be one of the best liquor stores in Boulder, great selection of wines and spirits, and if you like whiskey make sure to talk to Trent as he really knows his stuff....also check out the great cheese store next door. read more

If you like great wines at a reasonable price, head to B Town. They specialize in this. Talk to Trent. He'll tell you it's easy to find a great expensive wine. Harder to find the more accessible jewels. For my money, this is the Best of Boulder!! Trent and his staff will provide you with great recommendations on spirits as well. Amazing service from B Town wine. I was looking to buy a very specific Burgundy for a friend, which I discovered is almost impossible to find in Colorado. Fellow Frenchman Yvan went the extra mile and suggested a bottle of Corton in my budget (incredible by itself). He got it delivered to my friend the same day. Highly recommended!! read more

I needed to buy some nice wine for gifts and found this awesome shop. If you are looking for quality products, great service and reasonable prices, look no further. I had just left another liquor store that was closer to me (Bailey's - don't even bother!) and got disgruntled with ignorant people who own or work at wine/liquor stores. It's so nice to find a shop where people actually know their products and can speak intelligently about wine, spirits and beer. Keep up the good work! read more

I am thrilled to have this store as my neighborhood wine and liquor store. The extremely knowledgeable owner Trent takes great pains to select new wines from small winemakers who grow their own grapes. I my opinion this, along with personal attention, makes it unique in Boulder. Whether he is there or not, the staff always come up with the perfect pairing for our meal. We love the Friday wine tastings from 2-7PM. They generally showcase recent luscious finds from all over the world, at an excellent value. Sometimes a great beer or cider is thrown into the mix. Meh indeed. Every time I go there, they don't have the beer I'm looking for, and today I even got insulted because the guy (apparently the owner - Trent) said, "Everyone who comes in here in only looking for one thing." Um...Duh? (BTW my first choice was Accumulation, the seasonal white IPA from New Belgium.) Then he said, "People should know that if they're looking for a seasonal beer, they should buy it by the case." So I'm apparently stupid now, also. So I looked for my second choice -- but they didn't have that either. Meh to the max. When it came to wine, I said, "Well I didn't see anything from the importer I usually look for, but I went with this one." (BTW my usual importer is Giuliana Imports - thank you Steve Lewis), and the guy said, "You know there are other importers who also find good Italian wine." I can get my beers and my Giuliana Imported wines at Pettyjohn's, Hazel's, Atlas Valley Purveyors, Liquor Mart, Superior Liquors...no need to stop by B-Town anymore. read more

This is my least favorite liquor store in Boulder. Every time I have been in there I have to search to get someone to help me and when they do help me I feel like it's in a begrudging way. And one of the workers was downright rude. I will not be returning read more

What a change! This business took over a space formerly inhabited by a typical lower-end beer store. It is now a fantastic wine shop. Excellent, knowledgable staff who can help you pair a wine with any dish. They have a nice bottle for any occassion. They also have a good beer selection and hard liquor. read more

Always had good experiences here but also have gotten irritated a few times. The young guys who work behind the counter are awesome-easygoing, helpful and play good tunes but the owner is pretty uptight. I spoke to him once in person and I believe the two times I called it was him. All three times he was irritable and not very helpful. Too bad. It could be a great place if he could chill as much as the great guys he hired. read more

Bring your ID, even if you're 70 and not actually buying anything. My husband and I are both 40 years old. We went in, selected a bottle of wine, he tried to buy it, and he wasn't allowed to because I didn't have MY ID with me. I get it, there are laws, etc. There's also a thing called basic human common sense. I've lived in Boulder since I was in college 20 years ago. I've seen parents with CHILDREN buy stuff in liquor stores. Really? Everyone in the party of people needs to be ID'd? Never ever shopping here again. read more
