In fact, I feel as though I got two for the price of one - entertainment and a massage, for one low price. Following a recommendation from a colleague, a friend and I headed along to Sangs Thai Massage on Darling Street for an hour long massage. Told we could have 60 minutes for $60, filling those 60 minutes how we liked, we decided to fill our time slot with 30 minutes of back, neck & shoulder and 30 minutes of reflexology. When we walked through the jangling door of the shop, the staff abruptly ceased their conversation, staring blankly at us as we returned their blank looks, feeling as though we'd somehow ended up in the wrong place & were rudely interrupting. After a humorously long silence, we made our request, only to be interrupted midway through our sentence by the lady at the counter handing us their list of prices. Stuttering a little from the interruption, we asked again for what was recommended, despite it not being on the list. This was followed by extended conversation (in Thai) between four different staff members, during which my friend and I stood awkwardly at the door. After what seemed an extremely lengthy time, we received the nod and were both ushered into the same room and were told to strip down to the loose pants they handed us. From here on in, things got better. The massage was strong, performed by a mass of elbows and knees, my strong masseuse kneeling and walking over my back, legs and arms like a cat pawing at a couch. Whilst we ended up with full body massages as opposed to the back neck and shoulder we'd requested, the massage was firm and satisfying. Moved out to the front of the shop for the reflexology part of the massage, our feet were rubbed with tiger balm as we sipped on our tea and watched Deal or No Deal over the chattering of our masseuses. If you don't have a tv at home you can catch the news and get a massage at once at Sangs Thai. If this isn't a draw card for you, then the massage in itself is worth going for. They also do hot stone massage, acupuncture and sports massage.

When I asked her this later she confirmed this to be true. It was not relaxing in the slightest. When the rock was simlply being dragged across my back that I did not request, I asked to end the massage as it was not good at all and in fact making me tense. Especially when she squeezed my neck rather than massaged it. I would have been massaged for 15 mins tops and they had the audacity after explaining my disappointment to want to then charge me $62!!! We settled on $42 but I should have simply walked out and refused. I will be reporting this business to the Australian Association of Massage Therapist and recommend you use a reputable local business like Healthspace or Endota spa.

I prefer the deep tissue oil massage, and it did get slathered on. The massage table is generous and made of wood. The masseuse joins you on the table if elbows are not enough I came out of the massage feeling great, she had gotten into all the knots, even those I didn't realise I had. Prices are very reasonable, I can highly recommend the 60 or 90 minutes sessions. It isn't very busy, if you call you can usually get an appointment on the same day.

I practice massage therapy for the last 9 years where I live in the States and I know how "spa massages" can be when you travel...not all that good and expensive. Not this place. It was reasonably priced and just what I needed. Firstly, they were able to get me in right away. I walked in and it was calming at a stressful time and a woman greeted me with a smile. The massage room was quiet and the therapist was amazing. I needed deep tissue and specific work done on my back....she found my spots that were tweaked out almost instantly. The massage seemed to be a combo of deep tissue with some table thai techniques....which was great!!!. She used warm towels during and at the end of the massage which were truly healing and soothing. As I was leaving, I was given a cup of fresh brewed ginger tea (my favorite). I didn't feel rushed out at all! I will be returning for one more massage for my back today. Last week went for a massage with a Korean lady called Hana (Hannah) and the massage was so rough and hard she had no idea on how to read a customer. The massage was so hard that I was moving and jumping that she did not even ask if I was ok or if it was too hard so the massage could be adjusted. I complained to the reception and all they could do is appologise. Even the extra service she became tired and complained her arms where getting sore and in the end gave up and said time is up. Then here's the catch, don't pay by card, they slap on a 10% surcharge. I wanted my comlaint to be escalated and all they said was they are sorry and accept the feedback and Jacob the manager would return a call to me. To this day almost a week after no return call. The massage itself was so hard that I ended up with buising for days. Avoid this business, they do not care about customer service, and it appears it's about money more than professionlism.

I found the practitioners to be very skilled. They are able to manouver the energy around your back and twist your body to allow your back to crack. I'm often scared to allow chiropractors to do this, but at the massage place i'm fine with in. Go figure? I also had the detoxing foot spa. This is very interesting it's only $30 and you let your feet soak in clear water that has a negative ion machine activated in it - after about 20mins the water is black and frothy. Amazing huh? This is the negative energy and blockages, being filtered out of your system, through your feet soaking and you don't feel a thing. The rooms here are really small and it's not a place for a relaxing massage pamper experience, its more for a massage on the run.

However, when they do follow my request and focus on my area of need, hitting the right spot, I walk out of there feeling like a brand new human.
