The manager then proceeded to yell at me that they have no rooms available the second night and there is nothing they can do. I then checked into the room which was quite dated and which has a lot of street noise.

A really quirky mix of modern and antique, with fantastic personal service. Close to the edge of town, but amazingly peaceful. Clean, friendly, one of the best small hotels I have ever stayed in. Hard to beat in Wuppertal (or even impossible). Highly recommended.
