We've made the rounds when it comes to Korean spots in Torrance, but this was our first time checking out BnB. The place looks impressively clean and feels brand new. We swung by on a Monday, just before 3 p.m., and the place was completely empty... except for an elderly gentleman dozing off in a corner booth. Turns out, he was our server! Super sweet guy, definitely added to the charm. To be fair, not many folks are chasing Korean BBQ in the middle of a Monday afternoon. We were just looking for a quick bite, so we went with the soon tofu and cold noodles. Both hit the spot, flavourful, decent sized portions, and the banchan lineup was not too shabby. All in all, a solid intro to BnB. But I have a feeling I'll need to come back and give their BBQ a try before I can truly make up my mind about this place.

This is my favorite raw crab place for its value and quality and I've tried quite a few. First, parking is easy with the parking lot. I saw a couple spots reserved for Bab n Banchan in front too so that is convenient. It has a mom and pop feel while also being clean and nice looking. The service is very friendly. I usually get the spicy raw crab but the galbi and seafood pancake are also top notch. If you like Korean food, and especially if you like raw crab you should come here. I have come back like three or four times now.

Craving quality raw marinated crab and don't want to drive out to K-Town?! This is the spot for you! I was craving raw marinated crab after watching k-drama and my love was craving duck, so we came here to give it a try. They did not disappoint at all! First off, the service was amazing and every single dish we were served were delicious. All the way down to the drinks! Abolone porridge - this was a complimentary appetizer and man was it delicious! The porridge held so much flavor for a dish that looked sooooo simple. It was fishy at all either! Next time I'm sick, this is where I'll order my porridge :) Steamed duck - they steam it in front of you, and the server did say wait 15 mins before opening the lid. But to be honest, 8-10 mins would've sufficed, since they keep the fire on throughout your meal. Spicy marinated crab - delicious with a good kick. It's a really good price for 6 pieces as well! (3 whole crabs!) The crab was super fresh and meaty. It did not have a fishy taste to it at all. Soy marinated crab - just as good; maybe better than the spicy marinated crab. It is all preference! I thought this was way better because I love the taste of the crab butter (the guts lol) and the flavor is enhanced in this dish. The soy is perfectly seasoned too- not overly salty at all. It is very rich, but soooo good. No wonder it's more expensive. Galbitang - rich and delicious. Simple yet so good. If you're looking for authentic Korean food, this is the spot. Do not pass this spot up! The employees here are super nice and attentive; they checked in on us multiple times and made sure we were okay. They even offered to refill our banchan for free.

I went to Bab n Banchan because it was a new restaurant and I needed to check it out. I think the menu was very diverse but pricey. At the end I chose the basic food like bulgogi and spicy cold noodles. The bulgogi was okay. I think it is the same as other place. It doesn't have a wow factor. 4/5 Spicy cold noodles were alright. I think I could make it at home too. There was no wow factor 3/5. The service was outstanding though. Maybe they specialize in the duck mostly and thats their specialty. I think many restaurants have something they are best of, but those random entrees arent. The price for the meat seems too expensive for me so I will not visit for the duck.

This will be my new fav to go spot in Torrance. Chance upon this place to get marinated raw soy crab and it was delicious and legit. Reminded me a lot of Seoul. Great service too. Definitely a must try and will be back! Exotic menu too

Great higher end Korean food establishment. I could tell either the manager or owner really took pride in the food. My best friend is Korean and I am Caucasian so he did talk to her and was concerned I wouldn't like some things but she assured him I love everything in Korean and it did not disappoint! We were going to order à la carte but he suggested the assorted beef plate for two which came with prime rib, brisket and sirloin and it was delicious. He also cooked for us which was nice. I really enjoyed the soybean paste soup, the egg soufflé and all the meats were delicious. I would like a few more veggie options other than the onion and squash but the Banchan was amazing and lots of great choices.. The meat was delicious and it was nice that it was cooked for us. Overall a great solid place to eat and we were treated like royalty. Definitely would go back again !

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and surprised there is no crowd. The food is amazing. Great customer service, quality of food and taste is better then any restaurant in this area. Will definitely be coming again to try more dishes. Everything was delicious.

Come here for the raw marinated soy crab! It is absolutely delicious. I prefer soy over the spicy marinated because you can eat the crab head butter. Pro tip learned from the owner - put some rice into the crab head and a few drops of sesame oil. Flames. They also include a raw marinated shrimp which had roe and delicious as well. Service was amazing and the servers were all very kind. Offering my wife and I bibs to make sure our white shirts didn't get dirty. If you're in the Torrance area and crazing Korean, come through!

Dolsot and spicy pork. Get both.

Food Banchan - Always a bonus when potato salad is included. It was solid as were all the others. Standout was for sure the cucumber salad. Banger. 4.4/5 Dolsot bibimbap - An excellent dish served piping hot with essential gochujang and soup. 4.7/5 Spicy pork bulgolgi - This was a stellar dish, much better than average. Tender pork and a balanced, natural flavor. 4.7/5 Service Short staffed, only one guy who seemed to be the owner. 2/5 Ambiance A decent Korean restaurant vibe, clean. The usual kpop soundtrack. 4/5

Came here for lunch today and ordered spicy beef soup I will definitely come back here with my friends! I would like to try their signature dish, marinated raw crab next time

They updated the menu again! I came on a cold night wanting some of the steamed duck, was pleasantly surprised that the quality is the same and they added more stuff to the menu! Need to come back to try everything on the menu. The owner has also started to recognize me, so I really appreciate how down to earth he is. I'm still surprised that there's no line here, their food is the best korean food in the area. As usual, 10/10!!!

Ambiance: it's located in a shared plaza with other merchants, parking spaces available in front of the restaurant, it's very clean and bright inside, spacious and good for large group hangout Service: very friendly and attentive, introduced their menu and specialities thoroughly, served water and food adequately Food: classic bbq and comfort food, specializing in raw crabs and steamed meat Banchan - **** premium quality and very tasty overall, I particularly like their glass noodles, seafood flavored kimchi, fish cakes, and potato salads, recommend Hinoki Steam Smoked Duck - ***** tasty slices of smoked duck breast, steamed on top of chives and cabbage, and sticky rice, served with dipping sauce, highly recommend Price: although it's pricy and reasonable for the premium quality, expect $50~$60 per person

    Jenny T.

This is a great spot for raw marinated craw and abalone porridge! Along with their galbi tang, we had our main dish which was the smoked duck to tie the meal together but overall from the starter to the 'dessert' which were the crabs hahaha - we were all stuffed and satisfied with our meal. We also were given a sample of their Sikhye which was the sweet rice drink and it was yummy as well. The barley tea is refreshing and gives off of hint of corn flakes when you drink it. This is a good restaurant to visit for your raw marinated crab cravings.

I had seen some social media posts raving about this place & with this being located in the South Bay area, I knew it was going to be worth the drive. There are 3 different courses to choose from, Tenma Omakase $50 - appetizers of pickled vegetables, beef soup, 5 varieties of wagyu meat, curry rice, today's dessert. Butcher Omakase $75 - appetizers of pickled vegetables, beef soup, US Wagyu sashimi, 7 varieties of meat, curry rice, today's dessert. Wagyu Omakase $90 - appetizers of pickled vegetables, beef soup, US Wagyu sashimi, 7 varieties of meat, curry rice, Chef's special dessert. You have a choice of beef curry or upgrading for A5 Wagyu sushi $10 & adding uni for another $10. I got the Butcher Omakase with the A5 Wagyu sushi topped with uni. They bring the big slab of wagyu sushi & literally torch it to give it an added flavor. It was definitely good but I would actually skip the uni as the creamy flavor of uni & the fatty wagyu flavor cancel each other out. It diminishes the greatness of 2 amazing ingredients. The beef soup is a consommé made from the wagyu bones/trimmings & it has such a richness, the bold umami flavor really leaves you speechless. The pickled vegetables and kimchi were okay. I would have preferred spinach goma-ae or something like a small cucumber & wakame salad. Each course of meat was slightly different. There were 3 different cuts of tongue, all good but the cut from the underside of the tongue was a bit chewy. As each course came, the meat quality & flavor kept getting better! All of us agreed that the best & the star of the Omakase is/was the Wagyu Sukiyaki!! The sweet smell of the sukiyaki sauce drizzled over the wagyu as it sizzled on the grill was drool-worthy. Once it was quickly cooked, the wagyu is dipped into the whipped sukiyaki cream! It looked so weird but it was absolutely heavenly!! You can order small bowl of ramen or extra cuts of different wagyu but the Sukiyaki Wagyu is not available a la carte or as an extra serving. Darn it! The dessert was a Hoji-cha purin (pudding or more like flan). I've never had Hoji-cha purin & it was actually as good if not better than matcha to end the scrumptious meal. The service there was top notch, each dish was explained well and they cooked the meat quickly with attention to detail, good presentation. Our waitress even came out from behind the counter to take pictures of our extended family by the wall sign next to the front door! Wagyu Butcher has a wrap around rectangular counter seating only so it is a bit tricky to seat in a big group. We had 6 of us and it was hard to have a conversation with everyone. The only problem I saw with this seating arrangement was how they accommodate guests in wheelchairs or special mobility devices. Maybe they have a table in the back corner that I didn't see from where I sat. We all want to go back again for the next special occasion dinner! It was worth every minute of the drove down & more!!

I remember really liking the food, so I'm not sure why it took me until yesterday to finally check this place out. It was absolutely amazing. They nailed every aspect of the dining experience. Let's start with the service. It was phenomenal. The restaurant staff members were pleasant and efficient. All the dishes came out very fast. While I cooked most of the meats on the grill, there were some items that were carefully prepared table side by staff. I enjoyed the ambiance of this place. There was music softly playing in the background. The room temperature was cool - an absolute necessity when cooking food right over open flames in front of you. I ordered the Manpuku Premium set. I loved the food, like a lot. Here's a run down of almost everything I had: Manpuku Salad: It was fantastic. I'm used to eating a Japanese salad with the generic carrot ginger dressing. You know what I'm talking about. This one had a nice sesame oil flavor to it. Not sweet, more savory. A refreshing change from the norm. U.S. Kobe Filet: This was probably my least favorite cut of meat of the day as it wasn't as marbled and flavorful as the rest of them. However, it was soft as butter - exactly what you would expect from a premium piece of tenderloin steak. Seared Beef Nigiri: It came with 4 pieces, but we ordered an extra two pieces. The nigiri was delightful. Imagine eating the perfect piece of toro nigiri except it was made of highly marbled Wagyu beef. U.S. Kobe Sukiyaki: This was easily the best thing I had here, and that's saying a lot since I had a lot of great food. While I was allowed to cook the rest of the cuts of meat on my own, this one was specially prepared by a restaurant worker since the meat had to be cooked and prepared in a certain way to maximize the flavor experience. The meat, when dipped in the raw egg yolk was pure bliss. Fried Rice: It came out sizzling hot in a stone bowl. The fried rice was okay, but absolutely necessary for the meal. A lot of the meats were very fatty. The fried rice did a bang up job soaking up the oiliness of the meats when consumed together. U.S. Kobe Boneless Short-rib, US Kobe Chuck Flap, and Miso Skirt Steak: These were all home runs. They were tender, fatty, and incredibly tasty. My favorite of this trio was the short rib since it was the most marbled of the bunch. Garlic Edamame: I've had my share of edamame in my life, prepared in a variety of different ways. I used to like how a restaurant called Backhouse in the Santa Monica area used to serve their garlic edamame. It was my favorite edamame around. Sadly, that establishment no longer exists. This restaurant's edamame reminded me of the Backhouse edamame. It was perfectly warm and flavored. Simply outstanding. For dessert, they let you select from a list of options. I had macha ice cream, as that is my favorite flavor of ice cream at a Japanese restaurant. It was very creamy and not overly sweet. Best part was the ice cream bowl was chilled. Kept the ice cream cold. It was the perfect way to end a fantastic dining experience.

These days, though, it's lunch that keeps bringing me back. In a city where fifteen dollars barely buys a sandwich, Yamaya somehow serves one of the best lunch specials in the South Bay. It isn't trying to impress you with theatrics. It simply gets the fundamentals right. The yakiniku is grilled just enough to pick up a little char without drowning in sauce. A few thicker pieces can be slightly chewy, but the flavor is consistently balanced. The salad is simple, the miso soup is comforting even if it's usually closer to warm than hot and then there's the rice. The rice deserves its own paragraph. Perfectly cooked, unlimited refills and paired with unlimited mentaiko and house pickles, it's the kind of combination that makes you slow down and wonder whether another bowl is really such a bad idea. It's simple food executed with enough confidence that it doesn't need to hide behind unnecessary complexity. The service has been a little inconsistent over the years, but on this visit it reminded me why hospitality still matters. Our server was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming without feeling rehearsed. The restaurant was calm, a Japanese family chatted quietly at the next table and for an hour lunch felt refreshingly unhurried. Is this the best yakiniku I've ever had? No. Is it one of the best values I've found in Los Angeles? Absolutely. Some restaurants chase spectacle. Yamaya earns repeat customers instead. That's a much harder thing to build. One of the lunch deals I recommend most often in the South Bay.
