Hands down the best food in town. Their chicken doner is seriously next level. The service makes it even better super friendly staff who actually seem to care. The place has a great, cozy vibe too. read more

Don't be fooled by the exterior or the interior, its the food we are interested in here. Being a bit shy of walking into places where there is seldom a woman in there (I have never seen one) my sense for trying food got the better of me - and it was a long time coming. I asked the guys "what's good" and they suggested barbeque chicken (they must have read my mind - hehe!) So I got half - yeah - that's right half a chicken. It comes with either rice, chips or naan, plus a bit of salad. I just had the salad and got a spicy sweet chilli sauce and a cooler cucumber mint sauce - To Go. £3.00, what a bargain. My stomach was rumbling and I couldn't wait to get home and tuck in. Whilst at the counter I noticed a huge circular rotisserie with hot charcoal and at least 10 large spatchcock chickens being cooked....aaah now I know where that smell comes from. More of a eat and run environment, and now I have been brave enough to step in and order, as Arnie would say "I'll be back". Getting home I was not disappointed. Tender chicken, gently seasoned, and let me say, a very generous half of chicken, my eyes are obviously bigger than my belly. I was full. Fried chicken is also available, but I need to do a more detailed scout. Like I said ignore the spartan decor, just try the food. Well worth a try.

Loud, Italian-American cuisine and cocktails…read more As a restaurant chain, Frankie & Benny's doesn't do too bad. It's main market is families and couples wanting a meal in the evening or before/after the cinema at the weekend. The menu's varied enough and the food is well priced and quite nice. Once you've been a couple of times, the novelty of the 1950's music wears a bit thin but you can counter that with a couple of Long Island Iced Tea's so I'll let them off. The cocktails are quite good, not really up to TGI standards (or some of the other cocktail bars in Peterborough) but they pass the Joff test. It's always someone's birthday at F&B's, so be prepared to hear the longest rendition of Happy Birthday this side of the pond. If one of your party gets irate at noisy children, you might want to steer clear but otherwise it's pretty inoffensive.

The food is usually good - the ingredients are mostly fresh (although some salad items can occasionally look a bit dubious) and in busier times the strain on the kitchen is reflected by the standard of the food. Service varies too depending on how busy it gets. Normally its fine, but on busier Saturday nights, again, the strain shows and service suffers as a result. Prices are ok - desserts are ridiculously over priced, but the meals generally arent badly priced. A decent choice of wine and drinks are available, but only one kind of beer, which as you might expect, is Italian. Usually the atmosphere is relaxed, and the candles on the tables after dark are a nice touch, but they can sometimes crack up the music a little too loud. Tentatively recommended

Our food took ages to come out, my food was fine however 2 of the 3 steaks were not cooked to the preference asked for. Took a while to get a waitresses attention to send the steak back that was well done and should've been med-rare and also my mum didnt get any roasted veg and my aunt didnt get any sweet potatoes as they should've done. After 10 mins of sending my aunts steak back the waitress comes back in a bit of a abrupt tone and says as there's half a steak eaten she can't replace it with a new 1 unless its the cheaper/smaller steak or she can give us a massive 5% discount off this £20 steak i thought this was ridiculous and if anything should've been 50% discount as they messed it up. In the end my aunt decided to keep the original steak as we were getting nowhere and a lot of attitude from the waitress. My mum and aunt complain to the manager and she was absolutely down right rude, it was disgusting behaviour. Basically said when we paid can we leave. My mum says oh don't worry we will and won't be coming back again and the manager chirps back with thats fine because we're closing down soon. Very appalling, made our experience very upsetting!
