The menu is not large but is varied enough with steak, risotto, lamb swordfish and pastas on the menu. The restaurant was a bit nicer for a Berlin restaurant, but still had a semi-casual vibe. I started with a pistachio and peach salad with balsamic crema. It was serviceable but nothing special. Plus, they salted the salad and I hate that. I ordered the herbed crepes with ricotta and asparagus in a red sauce for my entree. It was light and flavorful. The pasta was homemade which was a nice touch. They have a large wine list & I had the waiter select a glass for me. The service can be a bit slow, but this is Europe and Berlin, so it's nothing unusual. If I needed something, I could just signal the waiter to come by. That said, it was a bit of a wait between courses, so sip some wine and relax :). I was too full to try the dessert. I will be back to Berlin for work and will definitely be back here when I tire of the German food.

The food is a traditional style of Catalonian quisine, and it was equisite to say the least. There isn't much around the Estrel hotel, but this restaurant should be sought out by anyone staying in any part of Berlin. I'd describe the food in detail, but really it all comes down to being absolutely delicious. Our group ordered one of each entree and they were more than happy to allow us to partake family style and share. I'd recommend this even higher if I could, so in summary: Eat here. If you get lucky they make one with a mix of the various fillings. You have to wait a few minutes after ordering the Menemen but no fear, it is well worth it. Volkan (sp?) is so friendly and always has a smile on his face. When they were closed for summer break, I missed enjoying my lunches there. I am glad they are back!

When you walk in, it seems really German. Kind of like walking into a British Pub, but you feel like you're in a typical German establishment. So that was kind of fun. We ended up ordering a bottle of Chianti. I had the Wienerschnitzel with green pepper sauce and my partner got a salami and gorgonzola pizza. The food was really tasty. The schnitzel was really tender and crispy, and the sauce was really peppery and delicious. I enjoyed the chips and salad too. The pizza was good as well. The only small issue was the service was kind of crappy. I hear that's the way it is in Germany, but I kind of expect a bit more. Also the door to the back smoking room was open, so every once in awhile you could smell smoke wafting past our table. That's not cool either. No one who doesn't smoke wants to smell cigarettes while they are eating. But I imagine if you get a table further to the back of the building, away from the room, you'll have better luck with that.
