Everything about this experience was great. We decided to give this place a try after another local favorite was closed. When we arrived it was a little empty but it immediately had a very local feel. Our server was quick and attentive and let us know that they had brunch and what the specials were. We went here for dinner. Like bar pub. We saw it on the website. It looked really good. So we came in here, and I had the Turkey with Green Beans and mashed potatoes and gravy, and it was really good. My husband had the french dip and it tastes delicious. Stopped by after a round of golf at Lake Presidential, and was unexpectedly surprised by this place. We ended up getting a couple of buckets and a few burgers and wings. Our food came out as fast as we ordered it, and the customer service was top notch. There's a pretty good amount of space for larger groups, and it seems like a good place to watch sporting events throughout the year. Let's start with some tips, shall we? When arriving at 11:30, the parking lot was wide open. Signs clearly mark pull-in parking . Those spaces were full. The rest of lot has NO lines. It's fine, everything is fine ... haha. I found a place that made sense and saw more ideas when I left. I saw a car parked beside a large metal object. I saw cars backed in at the farthest part of the lot. Reviews note that this restaurant of popular and I believe it! Upon entering, seat yourself and a super friendly staff member will come to your table with specials and answers to any questions you may have. This place feels like a local hangout with conversations and familiar getting off you become a regular. I only had breakfast this time and it was filling. I loved almost all of it, like the fried eggs, the bacon, the pork sausage, and the potatoes, though I prefer fluffy pancakes. I plan to come back to see what it's like later in the day. read more

Overall FIVE STARS because service/hospitality was exceptional. This is a nice, quaint neighborhood tavern. I saw a picture of Sue's Bloody Mary on Friday...and I was there first thing Saturday to try one. It did not disappoint! Normally it comes garnished with blackened shrimp or bacon, but I don't eat meat. No problem, as pictured, you see it comes with premium olives and the perfect pickles. The mix is also doctored up to add the perfect balance of spicy, savory, and zest. I'd been traveling far and wide for a good bloody and lo and behold this local spot! The menu is simple but comes with a nice selection of fresh, quality bar food favorites. I don't eat meat, hut if I did?! The tacos and burgers looked plentiful and amazing. Again, I went for the bloody but the fries were fresh and delicious. Fried to crisp and hearty perfection. My "large" salad was initially very disappointing. It just a house salad with no meat or cheese so nothing extravagant, but it was missing quantity of the veggie toppings listed on the menu. But Sunita (Sue) stepped in right away to personally fix the issue. I was pleased. Great hospitality start to finish. Service here was nice. You can tell many of the customers were regulars and they were kind. Reminds you of Cheers! I like that though I was not a regular, I was given the same level of service and attention and was even asked to come back as I wrapped up. I replied -- I definitely plan to! Nice local spot which is welcoming. You can't go wrong with beer & wine. We ordered pulled pork, wings and a taco salad. We ordered the wings as our appetizer but it came out after the entrees. They were crispy and very good. The pulled pork wasn't cooked in sauce, that came on the side, so it was ok. The taco salad didn't have cheese or taco meat but appeared to be chili. And not very much of it so it was fairly dry. There were so many whole corn chips and some salsa on the side. Overall, I'd go back when in that area of Maryland again. read more

I found myself in the neighborhood and stumbled across this spot. Definitely has that neighborhood feel "where everybody knows your name." The bar felt very "Maryland" and I like that. Upon waitress recommendation, I got the burger (can't remember the exact burger). It was very good. Juicy with solid flavor and nice bun. The fries were boardwalk style, which is one of my favorite. Babes Boys Tavern (AKA Top of the Hill) is an Oasis in a culinary desert (Upper Marlboro). They do fish very well. I've had the fish sandwich several times. I've had the beer batter fried cod tacos the past two visits. They never disappoint. Service is very friendly and easy on the eyes. I highly recommend this Tavern. A little shack of a tavern with warmth and goodness. The bar area is small, and so is the overall interior space. There are about 4/5 flat screens for watching games. It's not often that Yelp steers me wrong, but today that was the case. For one thing not even the name of this restaurant is correct. It is apparently called babe's boys tavern, not the tavern on the hill. I contacted Yelp HQ and they made the change. We were driving home from DC and looking for a late lunch spot, so we popped in here based on the Yelp reviews. It was not at all what we expected. It's basically a dark and dreary bar with about six or seven high tops. We were really hoping for some good fresh fish or some of the other items that we saw on the online menu, but those are dinner items and only available after 3 p.m. . So we were stuck ordering from the soup and sandwich menu and weren't really in the mood for burgers or wraps. My wife ordered the chicken soup that she said tasted like it was made with old chicken. I ordered the jambalaya which wasn't. It was some sort of vegetable soup and cost $11.99 for a smallish bowl. Seriously, I know how to make jambalaya and often do. It isn't soupy, and it doesn't have carrots and peas in it. So when all was said and done, we got out of there for $21 for two bowls of soup. So me and two of my girlfriends walked in here on our way home one night thinking it would be an ok time. Well, when we walked in everyone looked at us and the bartender immediately shouted "we're about to call last call so you have time for one drink" this was 8pm. So my girls ordered and got what they asked for, I ordered captain- they were out - I ordered Bacardi- they were out. So I settled for Jack and coke. When we cheers'd and took a sip of our drinks- holy over pour!!!!! We didn't end up finishing them. They were horrible. But as we paid quickly we noticed that they kept serving everyone else but looking at us and shouting "we're not a late night bar!" We felt super unwanted. But then I guess the older male owner walked past us and said "y'all are pretty - you want a job?! I'm hiring !" ..... coool. So going there once was enough for me. read more

The special was pork chop boneless covered in panko fries and slaw, came with two chops for $12 she said it was just one but it was a lot of food for lunch time. The chops were very tender and juicy fries are always good and the slaw was ok needs a little more vinegar or maybe some celery seed? This is my happy hour, after a crappy day, just want to leave work early, stop on the way home kind of place. I love it here. The bartenders are amazing and the minute I walk in, my drink is ready! They have great homemade soup did I mention the service yet? Ahhmazing. I'm so happy I found this place. It's the perfect place for me to go vent, meet people from the area, hang out with my coworkers or even just talking to the ladies behind the bar. I've been coming here since they reopened after the tragic accident and I will continue to come here! They have Golden Tee, AMI jukebox, and great conversation. I do realize I gave it 5 stars for just soup and my ladies behind the bar but they always give great suggestions on what to try and to be honest, I'm not going there to have a MAJOR or fancy meal either.
