So, my neighbors and I randomly selected Babe's Grill House this past Saturday. The ratings averaged a 4.7 on Google with around 1260 people rating it. With my job, I eat out quite a bit so it takes a little more to impress me. First, the staff was great! The owner even came around to make sure all was good. Everything is local bought, and top quality produce and meat is selected.The Salmon/Brisket combo that I ordered was beyond good! If you are within an hour drive from Palmyra, you need to try this place. Not really for families with young children, but it would make a wonderful date night. (or apology meal. I've been to Babes many times over the years, but it's been a minute since I've been in Palmyra. Based on memories and a dinner experience this time, it's arguably the best restaurant in town. They took one of the classic homes on Main Street and turned it into a restaurant, with lots of outdoor seating on a patio out front, a bar and high top area in the main room to the right, but quieter dining in the back and upstairs. It's bright and clean, but still keeps that old feel. They have a full menu; this visit I was in with a friend and we both opted for steak dinners, which are served with choice of sides and sauce. Prices are reasonable for the area and quality of the food, but definitely higher than a typical meal out in town. They also have a wonderful beer list, with lots of local choices and fresh kegs. Service was great, we had a friendly server who was attentive all evening. I can definitely see why this place is still around and as popular as ever; if you're looking for something a little more special in the area, this is worth the trip. read more

June 2025 Babe's Grill House - Great Return Visit, Tasty Food & Friendly People My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner before heading to the bowling alley for the Dutchman Tournament. At first, I didn't recognize the name when looking up places to eat nearby, so I told my wife, "Let's give this one a try." As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, it hit me -- we had been here before, but it had been years, pre-COVID. We sat at the bar, which wasn't too busy -- just a few locals enjoying food and drinks. The bartender greeted us right away and asked if we were eating or just having drinks. We were there for food, and both ordered iced tea (I figured I'd wait until after bowling for anything stronger). My wife had the Smoked Brisket Dip with house chips. She said the brisket was tender, though she wished it had more onions and less bread. The house chips were excellent -- tossed in ranch seasoning, which added great flavor. She mentioned the sandwich would've been even better served on ciabatta like mine. I had the Spiced Pig -- pulled pork with BBQ sauce and fried jalapeños on ciabatta, plus really good fries. Everything was hot, flavorful, and fresh. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. The other people at the bar were friendly (most seemed to be regulars -- one even lived right behind the place). The owner stopped by to ask how our meal was, and before we left, he gave us a couple of free drink coupons for a new restaurant he just opened. That personal touch really stood out. I hate to do this because I don't know if they had an off night or not. My wife went in for an early dinner Saturday afternoon. It was not busy. The service was great and so were the cocktails. The food was not great. I had the fish and chips. It just lacked flavor but the chips were great. My wife's ribs were a bit dry, the carrots were flavorless, and the Brussel sprouts were lackluster. We ordered dessert since there were such glowing reviews on Yelp. The carrot cake was not good. It was dry and tasted like stale supermarket cake. My wife's chocolate cake was better but it was just "okay". I would come back for the cocktails, the ambiance, but not really the food. I just have to wonder if I came on an off day, like I said. You know you're in the right place when you can smell the BBQ even before you get to the door. I enjoyed that as soon as you walk through the door, you are greeted with so many festive Halloween decorations. I don't know why, but I get such happy positive vibes. Whether you're here to drink, eat, or both, it just sets the mood. I came here to place an order for take-out but left with so much more. While I was waiting for my food, I ended up talking to one of the owners. I was taken aback when he thanked me for coming here. It's my first time here. I was like, ok. He told me that they have been open for 13 years now. He showed me the outdoor eating area and explained to me the typical layout they have on warm nights and game nights, etc. They have a fire pit similar to what they use for their bbq and a projector to play the game for everyone to watch outside. Visualizing what he said, I can only imagine it gets super packed here on the weekend. Even on that cold night, he had turned the fire on for me to be able to take pictures and see the full vibe. It was so cool. I highly doubt my pictures can do it justice. I was very thankful that he took the time to share that with me. They were pretty busy, too. We ordered: 1. Pineapple jule margarita - This was yummy and warmed me up while waiting for my to-go order. 2. Wagyu dip - I forgot what this was called, but it was delicious with the tortilla chips. Super flavorful. Once you start eating it, you can't stop 3. Smoked Brisket sandwich with fries - The brisket was tender and juicy. The bread was nice and fluffy. It just melts in your mouth. Fries were amazing. 4. 2 item deconstructed plate 1/2 rack St. Louis Ribs and local spicy sausage with homemade bbq chips and mashed potatoes - The ribs literally fall off the bone tender, and the spicy sausage wasn't spicy but flavorful with all the seasonings. The chips were tasty. I didn't care too much for the potatoes. 5. Chocolate cake - moist chocolate cake 6. Pumpkin cheesecake - This was light and not too heavy. It tasted like it was homemade. 5. Snickers cake - I liked this it wasn't a generic candy car cake where they put pieces of the candy bar on top. It tasted like it was homemade and re-created it to taste similar to a snickers bar. We were a party of six dining at Babe's for the first time. Chuck was our waiter. Outstanding! Everything was outstanding! There were lots of choices on the menu and Chuck guided us through our choices and was so helpful. Cocktails were exceptional. The charcuterie board we had to start our dinner was wonderful. It was so fresh and the cheese, meats, honey, etc. were so tasty. It was a nice large board of yummy food. Wings were very good with their sauces. We all had various steaks with some of us adding a crabcake to the plate. The steaks were cooked perfectly and all of them arrived at the same time! Crabcakes were as good as the steaks. Most of us had the glazed carrots and Boursin mashed potatoes as our sides. They were so delicious and freshly prepared. Compliments to the chef! Best carrots and mashed potatoes I have ever had. It was really upscale eating in a cozy, comfy environment that wasn't pretentious. Our waiter refreshed our water and delivered second drinks quickly. Chuck was humorous and very knowledgeable and attentive. Most of us have leftovers to enjoy. We were so full that we had one dessert to share. Lava cake with ice cream, and it was vanilla with caramel which was so delicious and different. The manager came upstairs to make sure everything was ok and chatted about the place and answered questions we had about where the fresh food was sourced. Went back to Babe's the very next day (Saturday night. Make a reservation because it gets super busy) because it was so good. We were seated outside on the beautifully decorated patio!! And we were lucky enough to get the best waitress again!!! KrisTEN is by far the sweetest person ever. We hugged and made plans to see each other again!!! This time we got shrimp tacos YUM!! To begin with, I can't completely review this place because we didn't stay. The ambiance was definitely cool and the food smelled amazing! We were told 30 minutes wait. We inquired about the nice patio they had. I'm assuming the person we interacted with was a manager/owner. He told us he was not about to go outside again and wipe down the patio since it was going to rain. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, but ... we found that odd. However, they were very welcoming here. We sat downstairs where there were a few high top tables and mainly seating around the bar. Service was very prompt and friendly. Started off by sharing Babe's style tots, which were tater tots topped with bacon, cheddar jack, jalapenos, and ranch. Portion size was pretty decent, and was more than enough for two adults and two kids. This can be a filler, though, so watch out! By the time our meals came around, everyone was on their way to being stuffed already. For my main, I had an order of their jalapeno BBQ wings (rate spice level 5). Wings were cooked nicely, and were very plump. I didn't find the wings to be spicy at all, though. On a scale of 1-10, I would definitely rate the spice level a 2 or so. I also tried some of the burger (which was very juicy!) and smoked brisket (super tender and flavorful). Both were good. If you're in the mood for BBQ, definitely suggest getting an item or two from their deconstructed plates. read more

So we were looking for a restaurant that was open after 9 and we found Babes. I'm glad we did! The service was the min we walked in was great, Jake took care of us and was super friendly and personable. The food was delicious and came out fresh and quick! The suggestion of the Brussels sprouts were spot on and I'm glad I got them. I ordered the ribs with shredded Brussel sprouts and Parmesan orzo, absolutely delicious. The bartender also did an awesome job with the drinks. We spoke with manager Bill to let him know how happy we are with our experience. I have nothing but love for Babes. My friend and I decided on this spot because it was practically one of the only places in Hershey open on a Sunday night at 11:00. When I called to verify the hours, I was informed that the kitchen would close at 10, so we had to get there post haste. Babes is tucked away in a dimly lit neighborhood, which made us a little uneasy at first, but heck, hunger prevailed. The restaurant/bar is in a house with original design- very cool original woodwork and nice art, but again it was about the food. Drinks? Yep, Prosecco for my friend and a lager for me. What about the food? We both ordered fish and chips which were probably the best that I might have ever had. The fish was thick meaty bites of goodness with a light airy batter. The fries were perfectly seasoned and disappeared from my plate way too soon. Staff was efficient and friendly enough. I hope to find myself back at Babes sooner than soon. The place is a little hard to find, but well worth it you have to drive down an alley to get to the entrance and find parking but once you get there and walk inside, you'll be greeted immediately with a smile. Staff is friendly and the ambience is very trendy. This is the place to go in West Hanover if you love meat, meat, meat! The barbecue was good and the specialty sausage is to die for. That's saying a lot for a Texan. I rounded my meal out with some mashed potatoes and asparagus. I wasn't disappointed. All in all, I would definitely eat here again. read more

We had a very nice lunch at Babes. The kids had a burger and chicken bites which they liked. The fries were well seasoned and crispy. We had the burrata salad with salmon which was very good and the grilled chicken sandwich which came with burrata and pesto and garlic aioli on top and was excellent, definitely the highlight. We also had the sweet chili chicken wings which were very good. And the roasted carrots in maple sauce were delicious but definitely sweet.
