My toddler looks forward to Rock City every week. We tried it on a whim, then ended up enrolling him! He is learning things and surprises me. He ASKED for classical music in the car, then proceeded to tell me which instruments he was hearing! He tells me LION FORTE!!! mouse piano...shhh! It is a very positive experience and I hope he continues after this to group piano lessons (5yo+). The staff is very friendly and encouraging. While I wait in the front, all the kids coming in seem like they WANT to be there which is a good sign. (Remember being forced to do xyz lesson as a kid? Not here.) read more

Arrived 10 minutes early for a previously scheduled Violin lesson with instructor Nari,..After about 5 to 10 minutes of waiting I asked the receptionist if she was on her way As we had been waiting in the lobby and no one has communicated anything. The receptionist tells me that he messaged the instructor and is waiting in her response. After a few more minutes he tells me that she was not aware of a lesson today because she did not check her schedule. he apologizes and offers to reschedule us for the following week. We show up again the following week about 10 minutes early and the instructor is not there. So after a few minutes, I ask the receptionist. He confirms she should be here by now as they like to have all instructors arrive 10 to 15 minutes before a scheduled session. Clearly that was not happening. After 5 minutes past our appointment time. Someone comes running in past us and goes into a room. She then come out, calls a name and motions for my daughter to come with her. i asked her who she was, she says she is Nari. Clearly calling my child the incorrect name, I want to give feedback to the manager. The receptionist tells me Luke is the manager as well. Which is shocking as he clearly sees what's going on and he too says nothing to acknowledge it. But he apologizes as he witnessed the issues and states that their needs to be more coaching of the employee. if you end up with this instructor be mindful that you may end up with last minute cancellations and no communication and lack of professionalism. read more

Recently had a Party here. I was a little disappointed. A staff member handed out the song lyrics and they practiced the songs for about 15 minutes before going in the studio. After returning to the party room we were rushed to get through the cake and leave. Songs were played while the kids ate, but there wasn't really any karaoke going on... After listening to the cd, I was even more disappointed. The kids were off tempo with the song and it sounded like I recorded it at home. You could really only hear one child during the songs. The kids have so much fun! Teachers seem to embrace each child's talents and interests and create a fun environment to learn. And I love how flexible the staff is - accommodating schedule changes and special requests with ease. read more

FIVE STARS!!!! This place is a gem of a resource when it comes to kids and music! We hosted our son's birthday party here last weekend and the staff and overall experience could not have been better. They definitely exceeded our expectations with seamless logistics and a very flexible/customer-service oriented team. Adam did a fantastic job of customizing the party program to suit our needs and more importantly keeping the kids fully engaged while exuding his passion for music (and the kids were only 5/6 years old) -- totally contagious. Great kids birthday party! We took my 12 year old and her friends for a birthday party. The staff is energetic, fun and very attentive. It was so cool to see the kids try instruments for the first time and to see how a recording studio works -- very unique experience. We listened to the CD the entire way home and the kids couldn't stop smiling. We had to reschedule the party due to strep throat and the staff was so kind and gracious about changing plans at the last minute. Really nice people. A great experience! read more

Front Office staff is not friendly, she is very rude to the parents. My 2 kids are learning music in this Herndon school for past 1 year and they both are in individual class. On 3/12 at morning 8:30 AM there was a blockage by police at VA-110 N that connects to route I-66 W, due to that we were late by 20 minutes to attend the 9:00 AM class. We also called the office and left voice message immediately that we will be late. We know as per the policy - ATTENDANCE & CANCELLATION POLICIES Individual Lessons Students enrolled in individual lessons are permitted one excused absence and make-up lesson per month. My wife was trying to make the front office staff in the morning to understand our situation, but she informed in a rude way that make-up class is not possible and if you want you can terminate kids admission. This is something which is not acceptable. We like the music instructor and your school, but due to this behavior of one of your staff we don't want to miss our kids music career with your school. B2R is flexible in placing my two kids in the band that best suits their individual needs. The band coach is great in song selection and encourages the kids to go beyond their comfort zone and explore new genres and artists. He supports and nudges them to new levels of excellence in music. My son took music lessons here for over a year and a half. He did piano and drums. Some staff I liked while some staff I didn't but the thing that sticks out is when my son would practice the drums at home, he would always set his hi-hat cymbals wrong. I would fix them and then he would set them incorrectly again saying that's the way his teacher has it at B2R. I asked his drum teacher about it and the teacher told me my son was doing this because the school's hi-hat cymbal stand was broken and could not be set correctly. When I asked about why doesn't the school replace it so my son could learn correctly on working musical equipment and he just shrugged his shoulders. As much as I was paying for lessons, he should've had a working hi-hat stand to learn on since you can buy a new one for less than $100. Between the broken equipment that wasn't being fixed or replaced and piano lessons that we didn't think were going very well, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. read more

We recently took a summer camp and were very disappointed. The website promised to separate the kids by ages, but our session had kids aged 6-12, which was too big a gap. When we asked the instructor what happened, her response was "I'm just like a waitress here, I don't make the groups." Also, we signed up for a full day camp; however, there isn't actually a full day camp. It is really doing both half day sessions. The kids were promised a trip to the ice cream store and the instructor implied it was on B2R. When the day came, she asked if any of the kids had brought money. Not of one of them had money because they didn't know they were supposed to, so they didn't get to go. Big disappointment. All in all, this was the dress up version of rock back, not real instruction. read more
