Blessing Business - Scratch, tear, and stain of couches

However, upon arrival and unpacking our moving truck (after a 5-day moving halfway across the country ordeal,) we saw that there was damage to some of our things. Our couches were scratched up and stained, with fraying and tearing in some places. My husband's one-of-a-kind woodworking bench (handmade by a disabled veteran in DFW specifically for him) had a huge gash on the top from the movers piling things on it. (Even though we asked them not to.) After turning on our TV, we also noticed there was a vertical line in it. We had Samsung come out the following week, and they told us it was damaged from the move. We immediately reported the issues with the couch and woodworking bench to Aaron and sent him pictures of the damage. At first, he tried to skirt his responsibility, but after relaying the information to him again, he said he would file with his insurance. That was December 19th. When we confirmed that the damage to the TV was a result of the move and not a technical issue, we also reported that to him and sent him the technician's report. We have repeatedly asked him about the claim, and he either doesn't answer us or says he "filed with the insurance" and we "should hear from them soon." At the time of this posting, it is January 29th. We have contacted him repeatedly throughout the weeks while also giving him ample time to respond. My husband once again texted him this past Friday, and he STILL hasn't responded. I apologize in advance to anyone who read my review and used this business beforehand. Like I said, I am saddened that it has come to this. We will likely have to file a claim in small claims court, and we are looking into other avenues to have his poor business practices reported so no one else is left holding the bag like us. If he ever does decide to do what is right and have his insurance cover the damages, I will update the review. As of right now, we're out the money we paid for the movers and the money it will cost us for the repairs ourselves. I definitely do NOT recommend this business anymore.

While the movers were polite, there were several aspects of the service that left me deeply dissatisfied. One of the major issues was the quality of the move. Unfortunately, some of our furniture was damaged during the process--including a dresser that ended up with multiple gouges on top. When I contacted the company, I spoke with someone named Devontae Smith about filing a damage claim. He informed me that the compensation would be based on the item's weight and the valuation option we selected on moving day. I explained that the dresser weighed about 400 pounds, but because it dated back to 1985, we no longer had a label or purchase proof. After that, I received no further response from the company, which was really frustrating. All in all, I'm extremely unhappy with the level of service and the lack of accountability. I would not recommend College Hunks to anyone who values their furniture and good customer service.

Everything from start to finish went terrible. (1) I scheduled an in person quote and no one showed…read moreup. The guy that was supposed to come called towards the end of our 2 hour window and told me to record and submit a video which he promised to get me an accurate quote from. I initially requested a quote to pack, move and unpack. The quote was too high ($6k-$8k). I then requested what it would be to just pack and move ($4k-$5.5k). I accepted that lower quote, which the guy on the phone said was "conservative" and that he would rather over quote and finish lower than the reverse, which turned out to be a complete SCAM. The pack and move job ended up being at the upper end of the quote to pack, move and unpack (we ended around $7.9k BEFORE tip) and the crew only partially packed and partially moved what the were supposed to with my friends and family working harder than anyone on there team and WITHOUT the unpacking service. (2) The crew was super slow and inefficient. I had multiple friends having to help throughout the entire move-- moving at a much faster pace than your crew. The hired crew from College Hunks wasted time and supplies, equaling a waste of my money, by bubble wrapping nearly everything including multiple plastic items. They also unwrapped an item I deliberately wrapped myself to use a blanket to wrap items that were not even breakable. The item I wrapped had about 30 designed bags in it which have not had the time to take inventory of since the move. (3) The I told 2 members of the crew, including the team lead, Willie, that I needed the air fryer moved. $600 Air fryer was left behind. (4) Washer and dryer were included in the quote. On move day Willie said usually they are not allowed to reconnect items attached to water lines but like in the army "don't ask don't tell" and that he would "take care of us if we took care of them." My boyfriend tipped Willie $1000 the first day and $2000 the second day to distribute to the crew (hope the rest of the guys got their money but doubt it). I think Willie was well taken care of but he did not even bring the washer and dryer to the new place. (5) When they arrived at the new place they were irritated that there was another move going on. I immediately contacted management and asked them to hold the elevator for my move and reroute the other movers to another elevator, which they did immediately. My boyfriend was still running boxes and items up and down 3 flights of stairs to compensate for their inefficiency. (6) I complained about my experience when I got a call from the company on moving day. The guy I spoke to on the phone said was apologetic, said he would speak to his manager to get me a return of some of my funds but I had to pay the full amount to get the crew out of my house. I called back twice to follow up and nothing. Very disappointing experience at a very stressful time. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
