Dr. Johnson, Bethany, and Amy are so good at what they do. Not only are they professional, compassionate, and transparent about treatment, but they are efficient. I am in and out for adjustments without ever having to wait--very convenient if you work downtown. This team goes above and beyond for their patients. I can't recommend them enough! read more

This will forever be my chiropractor.. I can't say how grateful I am to have such a compassionate doctor like doctor Johnson and his staff. First let me just say Mrs Amy is the most beautiful and sweetest person I've ever meet, if you've never been to a chiropractor and your nervous she calms all your fears, she's gentle and make you feel so comfortable; she even offer you blankets, water etc to make you feel comfortable. Mrs Johnson will be the first person you encounter and let me tell you she has a smile that will brighten the whole room, she assist you with any questions or concerns you may have and she has a checkin setup that seem less and very quick and simple and a good way to keep up with your progress. Dr Johnson you guys is the most happiest man alive ( I promise every time I'm there this man is always upbeat and with a smile) he listen to you and all your issues your having ,but let me just say that I think this man has some sort of magic powers cause he goes directly to the pain( he says it's here isn't it) and he nails it every time and he knows this all by listening to you..Amazing...i know a lot of people like me get nervous there first couple of times when going to a chiropractor but you don't have to worry with him he's gentle but yet he adjusting skills nails the problem. I can't say enough about how great this chiropractic office is! From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed. Everyone shows so much care in wanting to make sure you feel better before leaving. Dr Johnson is so pleasant and professional. As many clients as they get in and out of there, you never feel rushed like most chiropractors. I've been to several chiropractors from Florida to California and usually feel rushed so the next patient can get in. Not at Back on Track. They're awesome! And worth every minute of being in there. I highly recommend them for any chiropractic and natural health needs. Definitely the best in Birmingham! read more

Weight, an auto accident and arthritis have taken a slow toll on my back, I accepted the discomfort as aging until I began having pain radiate from my lower back down my right leg. Dr. Johnson and Amy Robinson explained every step of my examination, the findings and treatment. I have issues in my neck, upper back and L5. The adjustments and advice have made a dramatic improvement. Dr. Johnson's advice for diet change and type of medication I was taking for another condition was spot on and resulted in restful sleep for the first time in years. I am always greeted and attended to quickly. The downtown location is perfect as I don't lose work time driving to my appointments. read more

I came in barely able to stand up straight with pain down my leg. After 2 weeks and 3 visits, I felt amazing! He did a wonderful job for me and I'll definitely be continuing to see him. I also love the muscle relaxation modalities they use before the adjustment. It is targeted to where the discomfort is and is immediately relieving and therapeutic. read more

He has helped me with…read morespecific issues (pinched nerve, dislocated rib, and everything that comes with pregnancy and early motherhood which can be pretty hard on the ol' skeleton.. all that shoulder-blade-flaring nursing, the asymmetry of carrying a child on your hip for a year or two, the fact that you're basically a Transformer but you get put back together with a few screws left over..) and with general maintenance during the non-Transformer times. He is incredibly knowledgeable, has a lot of tools in his treatment toolbox, he explains everything as much (or as little) as you want, he always makes sure the treatment is within your comfort zone, and booking is easy. The environment is calm, open and bright, the music is always low key and good, and if you need x-rays he can do them there. When my GP took x-rays, they saw "not broken, it'll get better on its own." Buuut it didn't. When Dr. Ray took x-rays, he saw my dislocated rib. (And thank God he did, cuz that was not fun.) Today I went in absolutely desperate- I had been experiencing pain in my neck and shoulder that was constant and intense. Ray knew exactly what my issue was based on my symptoms, and tailored my treatment accordingly. After my treatment the pain was gone. Finally, after 5 days of relentless pain, I will be able to get a good nights sleep! Most importantly, I trust Dr. Ray. He knows what he's doing and he listens to (and cares about) his patients.

They told me to get undressed (they didn't tell me what to take off) and didn't even give me a blanket. I had to find it. Dr. Beth Sherer only put Acupuncture needles in my on the top of my head because I asked (she was giving me Acupuncture for Anxiety, and this is where you're supposed to put the needles mostly ) she said "oh I thought I couldn't put them there because of your hair claw." I think she was just trying to save time. Another Acupuncturist I had just asked me to take the hair claw off. It was more painful than other places I've been to. I laid there with the needles in for 20 minutes. That is the minimum. I told her I had chronic pain and 20 minutes for that is not enough according to my research (see phorltot). I think this place mainly serves veterans :) which is great because it's covered 100% for them. I had to pay $60. She definitely put the needles in the right spots because I felt relaxed afterwards, but mostly the loud music and the long wait (1 hr) turn me off. Disclaimer: if you're not sensitive to loud music, it won't be a problem for you, but I would think a lot of veterans are coming because of PTSD and chronic pain and loud music is just not calming for some people. Usually with body work/alternative medicine, there's very calming music in the background. I think the music was loud because the atmosphere seemed so hectic with so many people coming and going. I'd say it's a good deal if you get the bundle with the chiropractic and you don't mind a long wait and loud music. One last huge drawback was that the person taking the needles out couldn't find them all!! that's a red flag. I don't want to be walking out of there with a needle in me or touch it accidentally with my hand - that would really hurt. So, Acceptable but not good, but FREE for Veterans

One Sunday evening in April/May 2015 my wife and I had finished watching a slew of HBO series shows on TV. She got up off the couch to go use the restroom, and just as she turned she somehow lost her balance and fell backwards (away from the couch) and landed stiffly on her buttocks. It was painful to watch, especially since I wasn't quick enough to catch her. She groaned painfully, and I immediately rushed to her aid being careful not to move her until she said it was OK to do so. After a few moments, she was able to roll on her side and, with some struggle, I was able to help her to her feet. She said she felt numb in her lower back but didn't feel any unbearable pain, So I rubbed her back gently with BENGAY that night and we went to bed. The next day, and over the next several days, she felt a throbbing pain in her back that won't go away. So she went to see her regular doctor who, after examination and an x-ray said something was definitely out of line in her back which might require surgery if the medicines he prescribes doesn't resolve it. After about a month of no noticeable improvement, I happened to overhear a coworker talking about a chiropractor she'd seen when she had some back problems. That is how we heard about Dr. Kris Johnson and his amazing team at BACK-ON-TRACK Chiropractic in downtown Birmingham. From the very first visit which involved a detailed conversation about her medical history (not just the fall) and an x-ray and a massage, she began to feel better. After 10 or so visits, she felt like new again (even better than before) because her whole back had been misaligned for years without us knowing it. As part of her treatment Dr. Johnson told us to apply equal parts of cold water and ice cubes in a ziploc bag to her back (below the neck) each evening. This soothed her a lot before bed. Thank you Dr. Johnson, your sweet wife Bethany, and your very able assistant Amy for sparing us an unnecessary surgery. God bless you all! read more

When I first saw Dr. Kris 3 years ago, I was unable to stand up, walking with about a 25 degree lean to my upper body. Every step I look resulted in excruciating lower back pain. Not being able to play with or hold my 4 month old made it feel like the end of the world, especially knowing some of the horror stories associated with back surgery. After my first visit I knew there was hope, I walked in and was instantly treated like family. It took only a few weeks to relieve most of my pain and I was so thankful that for the first time in months I was able to stand up correctly. After a few more months of treatment I was like new again (Only visiting when I felt like I needed an adjustment). Now that I am pregnant with twins, you can bet I will be visiting on a regular basis! I recommend anyone to Back on Track Chiropractic & Wellness Center, it will be one of the only doctor's appointments you will actually look forward to! read more

My husband hurt his shoulder and of course he wouldn't go to the doctor. Well after about 2 month's he went to his doctor and was told he had pulled a muscle and to exercise it and take Advil if needed, he did this for a couple weeks but it didn't get any better. Our daughter got him to go see Dr. Johnson, the first thing he did after meeting and talking to him was to take x-rays and he could tell it was more than a pulled muscle. He is going back tomorrow for his 3rd visit and he is filling better already. Wish there was an option for more than 5 stars because he definitely deserves it. Dr. Kris is a GREAT chiropractor. This is a Christian family ran office. I've been seeing him for almost 5 years. The first time I went into his office, I could barely walk because of my lower back issues. Also, the office staff is wonderful. Amy is very quick to get you started on therapy and Bethany (also Dr. Kris' wife) is very friendly and helpful when it comes to scheduling future appointments, handling the insurance and your visit. I was in pain constantly for 5 weeks with neck and back pain so intense that I could not sit for more than 10 minutes, ride/drive in a car for over 10 minutes, basically could only lay down. I came to Back on Track and received treatment. I did not receive steroid shots, muscle relaxers or surgery. If you are in constant pain and do not want an operation or medications and their side effects, I suggest you go to the best medical treatment available in our advanced technology world that we live in and that is Chiropractic care! read more

I started going to Dr. Kris shortly after I found that I had a L5 S1 ruptured disc along with a grade two spondyloslisthesis. I was told by a Neurosurgeon that I was going to need a spinal fusion. I was not comfortable with having to go through a back surgery especially a lower disc fusion. I am now four months out since my injury and still no surgery thanks to Dr. Kris.
