Back to Life is the ONLY place we go to when we need our car smogged. We've been coming for years and it's usually my husband or my kids that's had their cars smogged. This was my first time coming here. I brought over my elderly neighbor's car. I came in before 9 and I was the only customer at the time. The friendly receptionist helped me and told me it'll take 15 minutes. So I waited there. It took less than 15 minutes and the gal told me that DMV gets notified electronically that the car passed. So my neighbor will be getting her tags in the mail. Super easy and convenient! read more

These guys ripped me off. I had a car that needed to be smogged so I took it in. They informed me that it wasn't going to pass because I had a newly installed battery and I needed to drive it at least 100 miles for the computer to reset. They said bring it back and we will test it again. Fine. This isn't a car we use daily, it's a car we use very sparingly. We got 100 miles on it 32 days later. They told my husband we had to pay ANOTHER $75 because it was over 30 days. We will never use them again. read more

Do you notice the brand new expiration tags? If you need to get your car smogged in order to register it, do NOT patronize this *shop*. They couldn't figure out this car, and if I was counting on them for help, forget it. Rude and arrogant. How they are still in business is baffling. An update to my review based on the owner's response. The owner, Scott, falsely said I was rude to the "cashier". Or better yet, harassed? Totally not true. After I talked with the owner, I gave the phone back to her and the owner said I didn't have to pay and to never come back again. That's fine. No raised voices, I thought that was fair. The "cashier", who's more than a cashier, then was quite upset because she didn't like the owner's decision. She was not ok with the owner's decision and was very rude. But that's ok. As I was walking out she said "don't let the door hit you on the way out", she was upset, then a friend of theirs hanging out talking with the "cashier" came out and started harassing me and grabbed my hand. Very weird, it's like he was a watchdog or something, came after me as I was walking back to my truck. My wife was there too, saw the entire thing. In my opinion this is a business to stay far away from. We got my truck smogged with another business who was great to work with, no weird hassles and had a policy of if you don't pass you get a re-test free. My truck passed no problem. Scott appears to me to be a vindictive person. His cashier needs customer service training and his 'lobby friend' needs to not follow patrons out to their truck trying to make something out of nothing. As for me and my house, we'd recommend to never patronize this rude business. There's other reviews sharing this same view. read more

I've gone there every day this week. Each time, it's packed because "they only have one tech today". I got lucky today and there was only one car ahead of me. After waiting nearly an hour while the tech 'looked something up on the computer' he hadn't even started on my car. I left, disgusted. And the last time I was there, they failed me because tape was wrapped around a hose! I won't be back. read more

I went there at 4:30 for smog test. I was told that they are closed come back tomorrow. Guess if I am going back or not. It was just a registration renewal there is no lights on my car no, colored smog. Absolutely nothing wrong. Did not even check or asked. The service is so slow that after being quoted a 45 min wait time, it took twice that amount of time. While sitting in the wait room watching others get checked in and told it was an hour wait time, I should have told the customers that it was a lie. I just had to smog check my car for the first time, and this was the place to do it - got me right in and right out. Thanks! They also have the ability to do the rest of the car registration online in most cases and avoid those nasty long lines at DMV. I didn't happen to take advantage of this service, because I also needed to make a correction to the spelling of my name (an error that DMV *clearly* made... yet I have to pay to get fixed??) - anyway, he asked me if I had AAA, which I do - and he told me I could get that stuff done cheaper there since I was a AAA member. Let that sink in for a moment... he actually recommended I go somewhere else instead of paying him more money!? Who does that? Much respect for your honesty, and thank you! read more

Came in at 3:10 to get my car tested. They quoted me 25-30 minutes to get done. I believe they had me out of there in about 22 minutes. This was after they warned me that they only had one tech working today. Fantastic. Their waiting room is clean and nice smelling and cool on a hot day. The front desk lady was very friendly and pleasant. She was also very helpful. She clearly knows what she is doing and has her job down to a finely tuned machine. This joint is a joke, I tried getting my car smog tested twice both times they told me they were closing for lunch, the first time it was 11oClock second time it was 10:30 same crap, closed for lunch all they do is eat, no customer service here, don't waste your time here. read more

I've been here before and the service was okay, but my wife went here and they were very disrespectful to her. And she called to make an appointment and was very polite to them on the phone. But she got there and they yelled at her for parking in the wrong spot. If you can't handle that then clearly mark the correct parking spots.
