I think the service and the ambiance shows you exactly what you are getting a good meal for a good price. The lines are pretty slow weather you are going drive thru or ordering up front. With that being noted, there is only a light amount of outdoor seating. But the food? It's in my opinion the best burger you can get fast food wise in town, the meat tastes juicy and tender and you can feel the sear on the grill. Really bad. I mean really, really bad. 17 dollars for a double cheeseburger and fries, both of which were horrid quality. The quality of the burger tasted like the Great Value frozen patties you buy at Walmart. They're acceptable when you're at a real "backyard" bbq serving 50 people at a get-together, but for a 13 dollar burger at a restaurant, an absolute travesty. Plus, to add insult to injury, the burger was lukewarm (the patties were clearly sitting out, pre-grilled). Even the fries tasted like the frozen kind you buy at the grocery store, and cost a whopping 4 dollars. Save your money and go to McDonald's, which is right across the street; it's cheaper and tastes significantly better. We literally got 5 onion rings in a "large" and the waffle fries was about the same. The Dr. Pepper needed to be changed, it was not good. I stopped by for a late lunch and I was surprisingly impressed. They have two drive thrus to keep the line moving and everyone was very patient and friendly. I thought the outdoor seating was very cute although not realistic given the Florida weather. Despite the long line, I was in and out in less than 10 mins and they also had wheat bread which is big for me. My turkey burger tasted very fresh and overall I was really impressed. The best fast food burger place. Service is nice and prices are great. Prices may have gone up a little bit but so have prices everywhere for food. We've been coming here for 3years, a burger used to be around $6.50 and it's more like $7.50-$8 now. Burgers are still a decent size with thicker patties than McDonalds right next door. Definitely more flavorful and fresh as well. Chicken tenders were really good too. Only thing on the menu probably not worth it is the amount of garlic Parmesan waffle fried for its price. Would just stick with the regular fries. We've had a lot on the menu and the burgers, chicken sandwiches, and milkshakes are always good. I haven't been here since my mother lived in Altamonte Springs many many years ago (close to twenty)! Anyway this place is still here, still run by the most courteous employees and still the best (albeit priciest) damn fast food burger in Seminole County. Nowadays they have an electronic kiosk at the walk up window, although they will let one order in the old fashioned way if asked. I needed to because they didn't populate the milkshakes in the system, having just replenished their ice cream supply. So the folks inside were more than happy to get us squared away! In addition to milkshakes (chocolate for me, vanilla for Queen Bee) we split an order of onion rings and each ordered a classic burger: me a double and she a single, plus American cheese in her case. They still taste like they were grilled out in the (duh) back yard . Classic dressing is red onion, pickle, ketchup, mayo, lettuce and tomato. They have plenty of other burger iterations along with chicken sammiches, weenies and other things. Bun held up surprisingly well for my huge double with all the toppings etc. Onion rings were REAL onion rings: steak cut monsters with beautifully crisp breading rather than gloppy mushy batter. Shakes were real shakes with real ice cream and milk, topped with whipped cream and cherry to boot! We did it this way because neither of us wanted a soda and/or fries. The fries here are two: waffle fries or seasoned ones; eh...I tell you, though: these people are moving the drive thru lines pretty quick and even keeping up on walk up window. They need to because as we were sitting here outside at a concrete bench and table...woo! They got busier than all get out. I wish there was one of these near where I live in the Tampa area, but the next closest one of 'em after here is like North Carolina or something. What a great authentic burger joint! I have never heard of Back Yard Burgers until my friends mom recommended it to me to try out. They had a lovely outdoor seating section with fans to survive this unbearable FL heat! My friends family and I ordered a total of 5 burgers, 3 sides of fries and 2 strawberry banana milkshake, and still got our food pretty quick! I ordered the black jack burger and I can taste how well the meat is cooked here. The only complaint I have would be that there was barely any mayo, which did leave the burger quite dry. However, the toppings made up for it! And the waffle fries were seasoned well. My friends sibling accidentally spilled her strawberry banana milkshake on the table, so I went up to the pick up window to ask for napkins and if they could possibly give us one. However, the worker said they were not able to and that we would have to reorder, which was expected! Then, after sitting back down and eating our meal, the manager from the drive-thru window called out to me to ask what flavor milkshake it was and that she would give us one. I was shocked and did not expect to get a free milkshake from them. I asked for a banana Oreo shake and when I pulled up and paid they gave me without the Oreo. I asked the cashier, who was very nice, and he went to rectify the situation. But the manager told him "we don't make those modifications" why did you take my order, charge me then tell me after I get my change that you can't do it. You could have just gave me the Oreo on the side, put it in the cup or told me before you charge that it can't be done. No effort to keep your new customer happy. Burger King tries to do this, but they fall short to me. Backyard Burger brings the smokey, grilled flavor and it tastes authentic. Love their grilled chicken sandwich topped with Cole slaw. Their spicy fries are nice too. They have two ordering drive through lines and cashiers with tablets stationed outside to take payment by credit card. Usually they get the order right, but doesn't hurt to check your order before driving away, sometimes it's a little messed up.
