It's a bargain at only $14 for adult entry. I recommend getting one of the seed sticks for the Landing Zone, where a flock of colorful parakeets will eagerly perch on the stick and eat out of your hand. If you're skittish, note that they will also maybe land on your shoulder or head, or pull at your shoelaces until they realize they aren't food. But for those who are game, it's a ton of fun and the birds come in a beautiful variety of colors. All of the various sections have plenty of birds, and they're easy to see, not hidden away in the back of some enclosure. They all look healthy and comfortable and seem to have plenty of room. There are also tons of plants and lovely flowering bushes throughout the park. Some particular favorites of mine were the Wings of the Tropics and the boardwalk (sponsored by Duke Energy) where you can get an idea just how much an impact beavers have on creating essential wetlands for bird habitats. All of the various zones are close together, and there are plenty of benches and places to rest throughout, so it's not physically taxing and guests with mobility issues could still enjoy it. It's definitely off the beaten path, but it's worth the trip if you have an interest in our feathered friends.

Access was restored recently, and whereas this is not a beach where I'd spend a weekend (too small), it is a good place to go for a brief trip to enjoy water and nature! I just hiked several of them and it appears there has been much work done to clear the trails of debris and add a top layer above the major trails for mountain bikes. I don't think most people know it is back open because the official government websites still list Flanner's Beach as closed. There are several wooden fences that were put up to prevent access to this area and the western trails. In fact, the entire parking lot is gated closed with "No Entry" signs posted everywhere. Although the camping area and circular hard-surface paths are open, access to the river-side trails is also blocked. I had to park at the small lot just south of where the county property ends. There are a few other places to park prior to there that will allow access to trails further away from the river. I'm hoping the western trails will open, but for now am grateful for whoever did the work to open the eastern side - thank you!

He's small he gets nervous. He can get injured from being stepped on by a larger dog. There were 3 members of a family watching a smaller dog play and had a pitbull mix on a collar leash, not even a harness, in the small dog fence. I didn't know the dog, friendly? Not? Family wasn't friendly when I expressed my concern saying the dog was leashed. But a larger dog on simply a collar is still questionably controlled. They called me a racist, said I had no right to say the large dog shouldn't be in there. They said in a snarky way to 'do what ya gotta do' multiple times. I drove 20 minutes to let my dog run and couldn't take him off leash. I called the city of Greenville that said nobody could be there for an hour but just to keep my dog on a leash. This is supposed to be an off leash dog park! The trip was a waste of time and I left. I got the name of the person, As I left I was told that my skin doesn't handle the sun well and to get something on my reptile skin. How is this ok? I'll never financially support the park or the city of Greenville but I'm not rich so I guess it doesn't matter. The family was rude & inconsiderate. They claimed I felt entitled in a public park in the SMALL dog fence. The city of Greenville told me to call if something happened. No, my dog is precious and I'd never chance it. I was bit by a dog in the past trying to get to my dog. I have mobility issues & use a handicap placard so I cannot walk him distances. I'm very disappointed in my home town. Why would I return to the park? Below is a photo if the dog that they let loose running after I left in the small dog fence. Even if a friendly dog simply not appropriate. My dog got a pup cup afterwards to make up for not getting to run. Since then I've had other people tell me that they won't return either. Some even have large dogs but had other bad experiences. A few bad apples can ruin it for some of us.

But there is plenty of room to run, a great watering station, a lot of poop bag dispensers and trash cans, there are even some old school scoops and shovels for you to pick up the Poo with!! Although it appears that very few do? But the park is mostly grass there are a few places where it is dirt. It has a lot of old growth trees. And the people that come here seem to be very friendly and the dog seem to be very social. I think you can either park at the curb as you drive into the park or if you continue on a little further there is an actual parking lot. And the entryway is, well, big and long? I think they could have made better use of that entry area and space. But that won't stop your baby from having fun!
