I was attracted by the large clinic that appeared to have new technology and fresh ideas. However, it turned out to be maximum expense and aggressive salespeople, with the same old chiro questionable practices. They've replaced yanking on your neck (which has horrifically damaged some chiro patients---look at Alannah Myles) with a room full of what seem like medieval racks. These are "decompression tables." They strap you tightly to these machines. Imagine having your head strapped down, as if you're about to undergo a Frankenstein treatment. For $360/hour, a non-medical person who took a few hours of training from the manufacturer, tightens the screws and the machine pulls on your neck and spine. There is no medical supervision of these kids. It's terrifying. My real doctor, who is young, up to date, and also has a physiotherapy degree, urged me to stay away. He showed me exercises that relieved my pain easily, without machines. But no, I had to be stubborn. I went for it, and experienced increased pain. After treatment, the assistant waves a tiny tube of Ice gel in your face, and insists the $26 lotion is essential for pain relief. It's the same stuff you can get at the Dollar Store; I checked the ingredients. Well, you know what? You shouldn't need pain relief after a treatment for pain! I've never heard of needing that after a physical therapy or massage visit. Then they send you to the Vibe Board, which is just like the vibrating machines that old school health spas used to have, ostensibly to jiggle away your fat. So there you stand, fully in the public waiting room, jiggling away to ostensibly "settle your nerves." If you don't want to face the other people in the room, you can jiggle in the sidewalk window. Well yes, I did need something to settle my nerves after that treatment! This clinic can't even be bothered to bill your insurance company or MSP, so you have to take care of that yourself. After you've paid your high fees for questionable treatment, you'll have to wait up to 3 months for reimbursement. With MSP, it's only $20 reimbursement. Same old chiro tricks, with hyper-expensive technology. No thanks. read more

This place lived up to its reputation of luring clients to unnecessary services. The main person for this act was the receptionist for Dr. Bartlett, Lynda. I had gone to Dr. Bartlett some time ago and took a break, as I did not have benefits, being a person in recovery and little income. In a place (financially) to continue what I felt was a good service started by Dr. Bartlett (and a bad place skeletally and muscularly) , I choose to revisit Backfit Clinic. I emailed to make an appointment, specifically asking for 2 things: 1. to make an appointment for after the date of when my benefits commenced. 2. to get another x-ray done, as I was noticing a re-fracture had occurred in my clavicle (explicitly mentioned in email). Note: I was 3mins late to my 7:45am appointment (Victoria transit), but I had emailed ahead. Upon arrival, I started to fill out the application. After 3mins Lynda came to me asking if I was done (while I was clearly not, as I was engaged in the chart) and indicated "I would like to get the chart to him as soon as possible" - I felt the unnecessary pressure from her. I got into the room with Dr. Bartlett and proceeded with an update and when I had gone through the entire spiel of my condition and 'things to work on', he indicated they DO NOT re-do X-Rays. I immediately asked if the receptionist knew of this rule? He did not answer directly, until I asked again and again - then he indicated that "yes, she should know this fact". Previous, Lynda called me after initial email and attempted to book me for a same day appointment (before benefits and a non-x-ray examination) as there was a cancellation. I reiterated my needs, explicitly indicated in the email - we rebooked a specific time that allowed for an x-ray. I was lured to this service by Lynda and that is gross. I will never return to this place of business, as it lives up to its reputation for sucking out unnecessary services for financial gain. From 1972 to 2014 were my years of opportunity, where I lived fast and furious, looking for work and trying new hobbies with new challenges in every career I accepted. With success I had a lifetime of challenging opportunities in the industrial world. Sometime in 2015, I woke up with crazy pain in my joints. It was early arthritis setting in. I have gone to walk-in clinics, specialist doctors, naturopathic doctors' Orthopedic surgeons, friends, and arthritis clubs, to find any answers that would work. My results were not beneficial. To the how I did it. In December of 2023, I picked up a business card called Backfit, with a simple invite of a gift of $75.00, for an intro treatment at their office. Okay! , let us see what this business Backfit, has to offer; from reading their online reviews to checking out the BBB reports; This company claims that they will fix your spinal cord if given a chance. My first wish was simple: I want to walk and stand up-straight with no pain. On my 4th month I could stand up straight and walk with no issues. I will still be working with Backfit to align my spine, so I no longer deal with the back pain. If you are still interested in Backfit, please read on. What no one tells you when you decide to go on a life changing program .... So, listen up: The hardest thing anyone will accomplish while in chronic pain is the changing of old habits. (I cannot stress this enough). Making new habits will take all your willpower and imaginative skills. It will be a huge effort for any person that has suffered long term chronic pain. My advice to you is to make yourself happy. Once you are okay and happy inside then the rest of your work will be okay. a) Making and keeping schedules b) Sustainable Goal setting and completing them is ridiculously hard when our world as we know it is so busy. c) Stop! Just stop! Take a look at what you are doing at the moment the pain hits you. (EVALUATE!)! Where does it come from exactly? d) Physical vs psychological are quite different worlds, be aware of where your pain is coming from. Once you know how to describe this pain and the location of it; then Backfit can alter their alignments to deal with that specific location. Keep inventing new habits every day until the old ones you do not like are gone. I am still going through this today, (it is May 2024), tossing out the old and inventing the new. My Last words of encouragements to the readers who made it this far. Take a breath, a sip, stretch your legs and read on. Trust in yourself If you can think of it, you can do it. In the backfit program there are new habits and hard lessons to accomplish. A ton of interesting reading material about the spinal cord vs human being's willpower. Who knew? To relearn your original life's rhythms all over again I can tell you it is going to be extremely hard. You must have a huge amount of discipline and belief that it will work. The staff at BackFit are so caring and attentive; it feels like you have your own personal support team. In my experience, the cost of the Chiropractic services care is very comparable to other locations; and it can be a "one-stop shop" with the variety of services available to clients. The key to success for many things is consistency and the understanding that it typically didn't take 1 incident to cause the damage and discomfort you are in & getting treatment for, so therefore it's going to require some time and effort to put things back to normal. There are going to be good days and bad days and you retrain your body back to a correct and healthy state. In response to the previous negative post, there is no doubt that BackFit is a business, but there is no fault in that. They are providing exceptional services and bettering peoples quality of life. If it doesn't work for you, that's unfortunate. I am glad you found the help you needed, but I have had such a different experience at BackFit I felt compelled to respond to allow others another opinion. I have had great success at BackFit since I started and felt the examinations, treatment and overall care was very thorough and the farthest thing from rushed. I practically crawled into the office in tears on my first visit and now I feel ready to start doing some of the things I had previous given up on. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Very pricy (20% more than other places per treatment). Very big place so not a lot of personal touches along the way. I went for treatment and my doctor neglected to explain some critical aspects of my spine which was causing me pain. After getting a second opinion with a different doctor who spent an hour with me after office hours and took 4-5 more xrays (standing and sitting) than Backfit did I finally understood what my problem is. I learned more about my back in 10 minutes with my new doctor than I did in over 30 treatments at Backfit. I felt manipulated at Backfit to do treatments that weren't the best for me. Backfit may help you but they have 1 size fits all. After leaving I received personalized care on a personalized plan with people who sincere and warm. Although there are some neat people and personalities... it's run like a corporation and you are pushed through as fast as possible. read more
