I had a really great experience here. I stopped by a little over a week ago with a flat tire. Not only did they replace the inner tube, but they made a correction on a poorly installed rim tape to prevent future damage to the tube. Very fast, professional, and knowledgeable. I was traveling across country with my bike and came to Kyoshi with an odd request. I needed a box for my bike so that I could check it in and get it to my destination safely. Kyoshi went out of his way to hook me up with a box that I could use to travel my bike. He opened up a new bike that we was going to sell, let me have all of the packaging from inside of the box and went out of his way to give me tips on how to pack the bike most effectively. There wasn't really much incentive for him to help me out but he took time out of his day to do so with patience, knowledge and kindness. I haven't gotten to go back to Backroad to repay my gratitude but Kyoshi exhibited the kind of professionalism that makes loyal customers. I will be back soon. read more

Backroad is by far the most responsive and expedient service amongst all the local bike repair shops here! Yesterday I got an old mountain bike from a friend and it needed a tune-up, so I called around a few local repair shops. While some places had disconnected numbers, others quoted me that it would take three days to replace a set of innertubes, and even some places didn't have chains/innertubes in stock. Then I found Backroad Bikes--Kiyoshi was very quick to respond and quoted me a very honest and reasonable price for the innertubes and chain (and he has all parts readily available!). When I brought my bike in, he was friendly, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable about bikes! He gave me helpful information about which tires would be best for the terrain I'd be riding on most and informed me on which gear shift combinations might cause issues on my 21-speed. I took it in around 3pm on Saturday and Kiyoshi had it ready by Sunday before 1p! Super fast!! He fixed my innertubes and tires, replaced the headlight and oiled the chain. This is a good business and I am happy to share my positive experiences of their stellar service and incredibly reasonable prices. Kiyoshi, the owner, is very attentive, polite, and helpful. My kid was ready to learn to ride and I needed the back brakes adjusted. Many bike shop owners see an opportunity to charge $50 for such a simple service, and usually you have to wait a day or more. Kiyoshi dropped what he was doing and did a quick fix, and charged $15 for the labor. Later, I had a flat tire -- twice. Both times I was charged a super reasonable amount for a quick fix while I waited, the second with a new tire and I wasn't charged for the inner tube. Now that we are back on our bikes, it's nice to have a local bike shop in Glendale that you can count on -- honest work at reasonable prices. read more

I went there to turn in my damaged/used bicycle inner tube for recycling since I found out that it's toxic and should not be put in trash or plastic bottles recyclable bins. The young attendant on duty told me that they don't accept inner tubes and I should either put it in regular trash or contact another city (I.e Burbank Green Project) if I want to do the right thing for the environment And ask them for help. I asked what they do with their used inner tubes since they are a repair shop and if they recycle them? The attendant didn't give me a straight answer which was very alarming. Anyway, this shop seems to only cater to people who walk in to buy stuff. They don't care about the environment and/or customer service who happens to be a local resident. I will never go back there again for any of my bicycle service needs. read more

I bought a bicycle from a private party that was still in the shipping crate. For a very reasonable fee, Kiyoshi put it together and made the adjustments to the brakes and gears that were needed.
