Bad Bakers is a pretty solid bakery-I have a long history with this location-it's strategically located right next to my gym-so I have been known every once in a while to "reward" myself with some senorita bread after a solid workout. Their senorita bread is probably my favorite item at this bakery-my daughter introduced them to me one day and I've been hooked ever since-they r very enjoyable especially when eaten warm. They also feature a plethora of visually pleasing donuts-that I generally consider pretty good overall,with some much better than others-my favorite tend to be the cereal based donuts they have at this bakery. Their savory selection of bakery items,I generally skip but not due to them being any less yummy but usually only because when I visit here,I almost always go for the sweet stuff primarily-that being said their Jalapeño & Cheese "kolache" is off the hook-it's so good-the ham and cheese and pepperoni and cheese versions rock as well.We can't forget about their empanadas or lumpia-it's really great stuff they are serving at this bakery. This particular trip was unique in that I had been recommended this app called "TooGoodToGo" by fellow Yelp Elite All-Star Malikah H. & on this app I saw they were offering "surprise bags" for $5.99 to be picked up between 630p-7p-so I figured I'd try it out. When I arrived and showed the worker my order,she promptly walked to the back and then handed me a bag that was filled with unknown goodies.I opened the bag and inside were a random 6 of their best donut offerings-I was pretty thrilled considering these donuts usually run from $3-$4 each-so to get 6 of them for $5.99 felt like a solid deal. What I really liked about this "surprise bags" was it gave me the opportunity to try out flavors in their bakery I never would've tried on my own at a deeply discounted price-I loved the opportunity to do this and look forward to trying it again sometime. In closing-this bakery is pretty great and the surprise bag gives me another reason to love this bakery-not that I needed another reason-I consider myself a Bad Bakers loyalist and nothing has changed that for me-go ahead and try em out-they rock. Normally this place would have a line out the door in the morning, but now I know why.... I haven't been here in a while and a lot has changed. First the size of the staxx. But with not many options in north Natomas for donuts I'll keep coming back. Update: the donuts have gone down in quality again. Tasted like old fryer oil. Adj: sumptuous savory sweetness BAD bakers is bad to the sweet center of every bite of their pastries. In particular, we love their senorita bread and enjoy them often. They are always so fresh out of the oven, soft, tender, very slightly crisp on the very edges, and filled with wonderful buttery moistness in their sweet filling of which there's just enough, but not too much. While one to two is really all most of us really need, very few people can stop at just one. Everyone I know want more and I often want at least half a dozen. =P Thankfully, they warm back up so nicely in the microwave (5-7 secs each in a full powered microwave, and yes I know that's an abomination to some not to eat fresh only) that I'm able to control myself and just have a couple at a sitting and then come back for more later. They taste great by themselves, but they're even better with a cup of joe black, or for a more decadent experience, senorita bread is so good on a cold day as a breakfast or afternoon break with a nice big cup of latte. The service is always attentive and efficient when taking out, as for ambiance, we only take out so no experience really with anything more, but it's a small but still bright and clean bakery and we find that it's always warm and welcoming with all the wonderful aromas of the best a bakery can bring, but in a BAD way. ;) There are tons of other great baked goods here, of which the donuts are the more famous ones besides the senorita bread. I've not had their donuts yet, but I will report back when I do. =) read more

The Señorita Bread or STAXX as they're called were not uniform in appearance. The "rolls" looked more like Thanksgiving dinner rolls rather than rolled sweet bread. I am a loyal customer and always give good reviews to this place, but this time I need to give them a bad review. Las Tuesday I went to bad bakers to get señorita bread to work. I was very disappointed what I got, as you can notice on the picture, the señorita bread was totally different, I do not know if the change the recipe or the baker, but those were not señorita bread. They looked, tasted and smelled like canned pastry dough to make croissants. All people as soon they saw them were asking why they were so different, why they tasted different and why the texture was very different. Even the box was white no more bad bakers boxes, my coworkers asked me if got them form Walmart. Nobody liked them. That is why I gave them only one star. I recognize that the service and the ambience are always good. I do not know if that day they messed up the receipt, but they should sell those as señorita bread. My favorite is the old fashioned which is a classic and you can't go wrong with. I love how they have unique flavors too and a different styles of donut! Makes it more fun. Very small shop next to a huge shopping complex in Natomas and a neighborhood, I was able to get parking though no problem. Workers were chill and let me pick up my order a lil early. read more

Im not a huge donut fan, but have really loved what bad bakers has to offer! It is a small establishment, but so many different types of donuts that are creative and yummy. I've ordered in person and online. But either way, you have to wait in line, so I feel like unless you want the staxx, you can just show up. I would always be prepared to wait in line though, unless you show up right when they open. The staff have always been friendly, which makes it easy to come back! read more

These were pretty solid doughnuts. I chose pumpkin, glaze without filling, chocolate, ube brûlée, ube mochi, and peanut caramel. Pumpkin and chocolate were my favorite. The ube brûlée had a bitter aftertaste so it was my least favorite, and I couldn't finish it. I also tried their staxx. I saw everyone in front of me get boxes of those so I figured why not. Stopped by on my drive from Reno to Bodega Bay for a mid-drive pick me up. Also they have been trending on social media so decided I wanted to try it! The line was shorter as it was a late afternoon snack but there were still options of different donuts. I ended up with the crème brûlée donut after different recommendations from the workers. This donut was delicious and not overly sweet! The soft caramel filling was absolutely delicious and one of the better options when it comes to filled donuts. It reminded me of the soft caramel chewy candies. The crunchy outer sugar coating of the donut tasted EXACTLY like crème brûlée crust and was just amazing! I've visited Bad Bakers in Elk Grove several times and usually enjoy their fresh, tasty donuts and bread. For the final day of my college class, I purchased a dozen donuts and 15 pieces of senorita bread. While the bread was fine, the donuts were disappointing--stale at best, likely a day old. The students ate them without complaint, but I felt embarrassed. Spending $52 on donuts that were almost inedible was frustrating, and I ended up throwing away the leftovers at home. Hella good spot if I am keeping it real. Love supporting bakeries that are fun and doing something different. BAD Bakers is a great shop that serves up yummy donuts, breads, and fresh takes on savory Filipino classics. I have been a handful of times and each is awesome. The bakery itself is small and cute. Walking in your are immediately faced with cases of tasty goods. Each time I go it is early busy, but service is quick and staff are super helpful with fulfilling orders every time. I love their donuts and señorita bread a lot. Especially the raised donuts, best compliment I can give it is NOT TOO SWEET! They have a lot of fun and unique toppings that perfectly compliment the chewy, bread donut! The señorita bread is fantastic and buttery. A tip! This bakery is on Too Good To Go, so if you just want to give it a try, check there! You get 6 donuts of your choice at the end of the day for a really good deal. Came in on Halloween morning and it was busy! Had to stop by before work and everything was made to order and super fresh. Staff was all dressed up and very nice. I ordered one combo which included 40 senorita bread and dozen donuts which you can choose the ones you want. I also ordered 2 dozen mochi donuts (the recently changed the design of the donut so it does not have mini balls just overall donut shape) as staff was telling me it dried out the donuts. These donuts were so pretty to look at and they come with flavored syringes which is pretty fun as well. Everyone loved it! read more

The wait time is atrocious. There is no reason why this should be an issue in 2025. Having 1 person take orders and then pack the senorita bread doesn't make any sense. You can have 1 person at the register and another packing. You can have 1 person come out, take senorita bread orders while the other takes orders and they wait. You can grab a tablet and have orders taken while in line. The inefficiencies is why we won't come back. read more

Better than I expected. I am plain glazed donut type girl but we do monthly birthday treats for the office and I was running out of ideas until I came across this place. They are located in a small shopping center where Starbucks and Togos Baskin Robbins is. Their website for online ordering doesn't really work so I had to go in but was able to order 3 dozen ahead of time. The gentleman that took my order was very kind and helpful. I scheduled for an 8am pick up two days later. There was a line but it went quickly. I appreciated that he did 2 dozen for me and let me pick the final dozen. I had to do my own sampling before I committed to a big order of course so I got some fun donuts that include syringes to inject your donut with. Absolute novelty but so fun. The person at the counter was very helpful answering all my questions since there are no signs to tell you what things are. The chocolate is really rich and chocolaty! They have cronuts and mochi donuts. But they also have the traditional ones too. THEN they also have what I have known as Senorita bread and a savory section. I tried the Lumpia, empanada, and this absolutely delicious hot dog thing filled with cheese. Will have to do these at our next event! As expected, prices are much higher than the average donut shop. BAD technically stands for Bread And Donuts, but I personally really think it is an abbreviation for Bad@$$ Bakers! They serve up Bread, Donuts, and Savory -- whatever you're in the mood for, what's good? I'm always a fan of their infamous Spanish Rolls, and did try their injectable donuts a few times as part of a Bundle. Usually get these as a treat for potlucks or other large group settings. You can get only Bundles & Packs via ordering online, but all menu items are available in-store. Online, for example, you can get a bundle of both staxx (Spanish Rolls) and assorted donuts (either 6 donuts+20 staxx or a dozen donuts+40 staxx), just staxx, 10 frozen lumpia (chicken or cheeseburger) to fry at home, or care packs (15 staxx, 6 assorted donuts, 10 pan de sal). We order from Bad Bakers often and have always had great experiences, so this was disappointing. The rolls were significantly smaller than usual, about half the normal size and several were end pieces rather than full rolls. But the owner obviously doesn't have an understanding of foot traffic, flow rate, staffing and thinks that customers standing around and waiting translates to sales. If there are only 5 customers in line, I don't even bother to get in line. They are soooooo slow and their Spanish rolls and donuts aren't that great.
