Want to shout out to Bad bakers for being one of the best bakeries in Santa Ana. They definitely shined showing their filipino hospitality and made me melt for their soft and buttery Staxx bread! First time coming here and after bringing home their goodies had to show some love! Definitely bring to the next family function so all the titos and titas can find their new bakery as well :)
Small bakery right in between a Starbucks and liquor store. Typically the parking lot is not busy, so you can easily find a spot. This is my current go to spot for Senorita bread since it's close to my gym, and I also like to try their ube mochi donuts and ube stax. They're also on Too Good To Go if you're fine with a randomized assortment of baked goods! There's normally 1-2 workers whenever I come, but they've all been very friendly despite the waiting time really varying on how many customers there are. I noticed that the selection can be quite small at random times/days. I've gone in the afternoons and evenings mainly, both on weekends and weekdays, and it always seems like the cases are half empty or there are only a few pastries left. They're typically stocked with stax, though, but I've been meaning to try their other options. They're also only have the ube stax on weekends, and it is on the sweeter side with a bit of ube flavor, but it's still fun to get it. As for their other pastries, I've tried the Thai tea and ube + Oreo remix ube mochi donuts - both good options, definitely on the sweeter side. The jalapeño cheese bread is very good and rich. The lumpias are okay, but the ones I got were pretty bland and tasted a bit stale. The stax are honestly really good - very buttery with a slight sweetness to it, it's just the kind of thing you have to eat when it's hot! Overall I really enjoy this bakery and hope to see it expand and serve more option.
I heard so many good things about this place. I was in the area. This place was only 9 or 10 minutes away so I decided to drop by. I was hoping for some fresh & warm Senorita breads. I had it else where a few times and it was so good. The menu for the Staxx (Senorita breads) only showed order of 10, 15 or more. I was going to leave because I didnt want so that many. However, I decided to ask about it. They actually sell in order of 5. Yay! I placed an order for 5. Another reason I have been wanting to try this place was for the UBE Staxx. I ordered 5 as well. Ube Staxx costed a bit more. I was excited to try it. The breads here were not served warm. My mom tried some while we were in the car. She didn't like it. She said the other place we normally get it at were better. This place was not as flavorful. My thought as well. I m sure it would be better warm. Just not what we're looking for. Kudos for doing ube flavor. IMO, the ube flavor was there, but it was pretty weak. I m sticking with my normal shop for Senorita breads.
I'm a geek for bread!! A coworker brought this in and it was almost all gone by the end of the day! I tried the Regular and Ube Staxx Bread. My favorite would have to be the regular one just because of how addicting the plain and simple can get. Best if eaten fresh and hot, but reheating it isn't bad either. A bit sweeter than Starbread, but delicious and close by if you don't want to make that drive. Will definitely swing by again and bring these as a potluck item in the future!
Came in at 8:30 on a Tuesday morning. There was a guy in the back working and enjoying his morning. Singing. I loved it. Really shows someone enjoying their work. Place was really clean. There was only 1 person behind the counter and there were 3 of us in the store but went quickly. Really nice guy and answered all of our questions. The ube donut would give 9/10. Had ube filling in the donut as well. Fruity pebbles would give 8/10. The Oreo I would give an 8/10. It tasted a little stale. The staxx were bomb. 12/10. Very sweet tho can only have a few. Will definitely be back
I was in the OC and I had to check out BAD Bakers. Upon seeing some of their goodies on their site and Yelp page, I was enthusiastic about checking it out. Upon entering, the display selection of their donuts and pastries looked pretty amazing. Aside from some typical donuts, there were so many that stood out; different flavors, unique to BAD Bakers. The store manager greeted us, and immediately went to bring us samples. Some plain and ube staxx were given to us, and that was the hook and sink. Wanting a good sample of their products, I ordered the 1/2 bundle which comes with half a dozen donuts and 20 staxx. Given it was Saturday, I made sure I got some Ube Staxx. The Staxx here alone which are Spanish Rolls, are worth your time and money themselves. They are their take of Filipino baked goods, but I would say, even better. The donuts are perfection. The fact that some of these have ube glaze is outstanding and a step up in the donut game. When picking my donut selection, there was no discretion in what I could pick. All options were open. I bring up this point because, you can go to other donut shops (big chains and small) and they will literally tell you which donuts are premium and are not part of the standard dozen order. Anyway, this business is awesome, and quite the hidden gem in east Santa Ana. I swear that this place will not disappoint. If you like donuts, or just sweet bread, and Filipino food they have what you want. They also sell lumpia and empanadas. Great business and friendly people here!

What started as a casual stop turned into a bi-weekly ritual, and I regret nothing. I mean... once I found out BAD stands for Bread And Donuts, I knew I was in trouble. They weren't lying. The variety here is unreal. Here's what keeps me coming back (besides sheer lack of willpower): ++ Staxx Bread & Ube Staxx Bread: If you haven't tried these yet, you're missing out. Soft, buttery, and slightly sweet -- basically a carb cloud sent from heaven. The Ube Staxx is borderline addictive. Staxx is my favorite bread to gift (and hoard for myself). ++ The Ube Crinkle Cookie: I was graciously gifted one... and now I can't stop thinking about it. Chewy, flavorful, and lowkey addictive. If you're an ube lover, this is a must. ++ Kronut Holes: OBSESSED. My new addiction. These little bite-sized beauties are dangerously good -- flaky on the outside, soft on the inside, and rolled in just the right amount of sugar. You can pull them apart so easily, which somehow makes it even harder to stop at just one and you can't. Be warned though -- they sell out fast. If you see them, don't hesitate! ++ Rewards Program: Sign up for it. It actually gives solid perks and points add up faster than you'd think -- especially if you're like me and "just stopping by" a little bit often. Discounts and free treats? Yes, please. The staff here is always friendly. Whether I'm asking questions about what's new or just taking forever to decide (again), they're always patient, helpful, and genuinely seem to enjoy being there -- which makes the whole experience even sweeter. Everything here makes a fantastic gift and everyone I've introduced to Bad Bakers has become an instant fan. (Some might say cult following, I say well-fed friends). Presentation is cute, and the flavors always impress. The only downside? I live dangerously close. Like "oh I'll just stop by real quick" close. Like "I don't even need to put on real pants" close. Was craving donuts, so decided to stop by Bad again and we were blown away with the different assortments they had. They had cronuts, savory baked items, and seasonal donuts as well! My favorite was the s'mores cronut and their lumpia. The lumpia was made fresh and I love the side of vinegar as well. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!
Nothing bad about BAD Bakers, a hidden gem in Santa Ana! As you walk in, you're introduced with the welcoming smells of a neighborhood bakery. The Staxx bread is to die for, pillowy dough and perfectly sweet! The donuts were nice and fresh, I love the ube cream! The service was fantastic, there are so many choices and everyone was so friendly answering all our questions. There's plenty of parking in the complex and also a drive thru, how convienient! We'll definitely be back again!
Discovered this bakery through the Too Good To Go app. I've never had this type of baked items before. It was pretty quiet around 2:30 in the afternoon. The staff was just OK and quick with putting together my sweet and savory mix box. He probably said two or three words to me and I was on my way. My family enjoyed the various items. I really liked the soft texture of the Staxx breads. I will definitely come back to try out some more items.
Came here after a Pilates class nearby because I was craving senorita bread. They've got a good selection of donuts and flavored senorita bread too, but of course I had to try the classic senorita bread. The guy at the counter was super friendly and even offered me a sample fresh out of the oven. The bread was piping hot, softer and sweeter than Starbread. At first bite it was almost too soft, borderline mushy, but once it cooled down at home it was perfect. I wish it was a little less sweet but I still enjoy it. Pro tip: throw it in the air fryer for a few minutes and you'll get that crispy outside with the soft, fluffy center. So good! Prices are reasonable, service was great, and honestly...I think I prefer this over Starbread.

This place used to be sooo good. I usually just order for delivery and they've never disappointed. Today, ordered another combo and I'm not sure what it is but the donuts look like they're now mini-donuts and are half-heartedly made. Even the sweet bread seemed stale. Please don't live up to your name. Too bad. read more
I've had Bad Bakers bookmarked for a while. After seeing all the yummy recent pics of beautiful donuts and Ube staxx, I was finally tempted. We got there around noon... and whew, the display case looked like y'all beat me to the party!!! Slim pickings :( Tragic!!! We ordered the Half & Half Bundle (6 donuts + 20 Ube Staxx because we believe in balance). Monique told us they were out of Staxx and had to bake more, so we did the walk of patience and came back. Corine assisted us round two. Thank you much!! Let's talk aboit this magical bread. The Ube Staxx came out warm... soft.... chewy.... like edible hugs!! I melted with every bite!! We blacked out and ate half the box in the parking lot. No shame!! Ordered 3 more boxes of Ube Staxx. Yes, THREE!!!! Yes, we waited again. Oh yeahhh...., so very worth it!!!!!!! The donuts were cute, unique, and delish... but the Staxx? Absolutely dangerous!!! Extremely hazardous to your self-control!!!! You've been warned!!! read more

This is the popular Filipinos dessert shop. It was trending on social media and I had to stop by in OC. We loved the Staxx bread. It was delicious, soft, buttery and fresh out of the oven. As soon as I brought it home, it was gone within minutes. I ordered the chicken and beef egg rolls to try. They were good. I did not purchase any donuts. Ambiance is nice. They sell Bad Bakers merch, too. Friendly staff and fantastic service. Definitely will be back in the future and get box full of Staxx bread. read more

Such a hidden gem !!! I was greeted so nicely and warmly and offered a small piece of Staxx as sample and i immediately fell in love !!! Especially since the price is very good for a lot of them. Will def recommend to everyone and will come back to try for more ! read more
The place is cozy and clean. The staff is friendly and did a great job answering my questions. I got a variety of doughnuts, an empanada, and spanish bread. Doughnuts- The dough is nice and soft. The ube doughnut had a rich flavor. The smores was nice and crumbly with marshmallows and a chocolate drizzle. Empanada- Appeciate the huge portion. The dough is soft with a crisp edge. It is packed with flavorful filling. Spanish Bread- This is a childhood favorite! Dough is soft and fluffy. The filling is sweet and buttery. Definitely brought on a lot of nostalgia. Oooooh...... the regular and Ube Spanish Rolls are so good!!!!! Especially when they come out of the oven all hot and gooey lol but for reals, they are really good! I tried some of the donuts, empanadas and lumpia, they were good. I still want to try a few other items. The service is excellent! The Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Thank you Bad Bakers! Cool Filipino bakery! Met the owners and they were really cool! Shoutout to Vir for giving me me some samples, really appreciated that! Loved the jalapeño cream cheese bread! It was so good! Soft fresh bread filled with jalapeños and this whipped fluffy cream cheese! (Reminded me of the Mickey cream cheese jalapeño pretzel at Disneyland, but better!) Empanadas were also super good, the pastry dough is so unique, sweet and flaky! While the beef was pretty flavorful. Also tried their Spanish seniorita bread, a little similar to Starbread, but with a sweet glaze. I also tried their Ube Crinkle cookie! Not to sweet but doesn't compromise the ube flavor! I will definitely be back to try some more baked goods! They also have a ton of donut options! read more

"Bad never tasted so good" - this, I can agree! Parking: There's a small parking lot. It can get busy, so finding a spot can be a hit or miss. Ambiance/Environment: They're located right next to Starbucks. Who doesn't love a perfect duo of coffee+donuts? They have a small indoor space. This is a quick grab n go location. No indoor or outdoor seating. Once you enter, you can see the delicious display of donuts & bread. It was poppin' when I visited at 09:00-10:00. There were constant customers coming in n out. I noticed the floor was sticky, so careful where you step. Service: There were 3 workers when I visited. Two of the workers in the front were quick & efficient. One of the workers (did not catch her name) can work on her professionalism and product knowledge. Diana, on the other hand, who assisted me was nice & efficient. Donuts, breads, & savory: 1) Hot Dog, Jalapeño & cream cheese, Ham & cheese (savory) - All of these were delicious and definitely savory. The pastries with cream cheese were filled generously. Perfect quick breakfast. 2) Staxx (bread) - These buns were buttery and sugary! Tastes better when warmed! Fair warning, they're addicting! 3) Staxx Fruit Fill Rolls (bread) - I tried the Staxx with apple filling. The filling tasted like apple, of course, but it wasn't overly sweet. 4) For their donuts, I just picked out whatever looked fun lol. All their donuts are delicious and sweet! Perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth. Pricing: Prices are a bit higher, but it's worth it for occasions or a quick grab n go before work! read more

Came in for the Spanish roll . What are these you might ask? Filipino sweet butter rolls. I'm familiar as I'm Filipino and we love these. I was in the area and wanted to try their version as my sister had gone several weeks prior and said they were good. I was greeted on entry by multiple persons. After seeing reviews I had to check this place out. I got three doughnuts and a milk to wash them down. They gave me ttwo staxxs to sample. The doughnuts come with free shots that you can inject. I really enjoyed the doughnuts and injecting the flavors myself. The best was the warm buttery staxxs. I'm getting them for sure next time. They also have savory goodies like Lumpias, and Empanadas. I may have to try them too. The parking lot can get congested at times with Starbucks drive thru customers. Thats the only bad thing. read more

Other bakeries take note: samples when walking in should be the new standard. Upon entering I was greeted promptly with friendly smile and a fresh and hot sample of senorita bread. I didn't even come in for seniorita bread, but I sure walked out with a decent size box to share... the tactic was effective to say the least. I initially came in for pan de sal and a donut, but I walked out with far more. You definitely have to try their chicken and beef lumpias which have a modern twist. The ube flan was a nice surprise I quickly added at checkout too. They say their specialty cronuts and empanadas sell out fast, so make sure you get there before noon! I know I'll be making a trip back for my new go to's and also hoping to try others. If there is 2 things you NEED to leave with it is the senorita bread and flan! read more

What a delicious and fun concept! Ordered BAD Bakers on DoorDash for a meeting, was such a hit with our group! I ordered the BAD bundle which included a dozen donuts and 40 staxx (Filipino senorita bread). Presentation was so fun and the portion size was great. Think the syringes were intended for the donuts but we ended up using them for our staxx bread and loved it! Even with the usual slight upcharge on DoorDash, this was still such a great value! Would order the same bundle again for future meetings or personal events. read more

If you're in Orange County California I'd recommend stopping by bad bakers in Santa Ana. The quality here is excellent, they offer variety of baked goods including donuts, coffee and all sorts of drinks. The bakery itself is spotless, modern and the prices are very competitive. The staff here is welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. Parking is both easy and free. The variety here is impressive that includes all sorts of baked goods, cakes, donuts and a wide variety of different breads all baked in house. Definitely worth visiting. read more

BAD Bakers!!! You guys are one BAD mammajamma!! Great donuts, service with a smile, and always comic banter with the staff when you arrive. This place has more than just donuts. They carry empanadas, eggrolls, and other pastries. Flavors range from traditional American donut selections to tropical flavors such as ube (taro... that purple one lol) and pandan. It's owned by 2 brothers from NorCal who are looking to expand and share their baked treats with the good folks of SoCal!! If you're in Santa Ana/Orange/Tustin area, pay them a visit and treat yourself to something unique. read more

Stopped here after working in the area - I intended to stop at Starbucks next door but was curious because many people kept going in this place and looking happy when they left. So curious me stepped in/ I was immediately greeted and felt welcomed. Gentleman asked me if it was my first time here and I said yes- looking at their selection the donuts looked amazingly good. He came out and brought me a sample of their most popular bread.. it was so good/ soft warm and sweet. As I was speaking with the owner he mentioned this was their only location in so cal! They have several locations up north in the Sacramento area. I will definitely be back! Love the ambiance! The cleanliness and the selection of breads. read more

Came in first time to try them out and the guy greeted us as soon as we came in. It's a very small store. The guy was so friendly and knew it was our first time. He got us some samples of the Staxx and they were amazing! We tried the regular ones and the ube ones. They are freshly baked and so soft. The ube one doesn't have a strong ube flavor, so it's very faint. We will definitely go back to try other ones, but we ended up getting the regular staxx. Review 16/365 Challenge Came here right b4 noon. Was nicely greeted by 2 girls associate. Came here to get our warm staxxs fix since i was out running errands in the am. Manager I believe her name was Monique or Monica was really sweet. She gave mee 4 Ube staxxs to try, It's only served on weekends My 1st time having it and it was very delicious. Highly recommended. It's not overpowering at all. The Ube flavoring. Recommend popping it 15-20 seconds in the microwave to reheat and enjoy at home. Got the donuts that can be filled w the different fillings that include strawberry, mocha, Bavarian creme and chocolate. My kids loved that they can fill their donuts them self to whatever flavor they wanted. Pretty cool concept. Croinuts donut are delicious too along with the mochi donuts. Very soft & chewy. Definitely recommended. The sweet donut shop is really clean and the displays for the donuts are nicely showcased. read more

Unique & creative Bread And Donut (BAD) shop. Not your basic donut shop. They have different flavors & toppings all decorated nicely too. They also have cookies & flan. Came here for the spanish / señorita bread AKA staxx & definitely walked out with 3 boxes of it. Reminds me of Starbread. Soft, buttery, & often served fresh and HOT. The best! You can never have just one. The staff was helpful in suggesting what to get. The pastries were all so good. read more

So bad it's so good! They make every type of donut here, Mochi, Raised and Cake. I love how many different Ube pastries there are. I'm actually very picky when it comes to Ube flavored breads, and they definitely got it right! The Glazed Ube Cake donut is the best Ube donut I've ever had! It's only slightly sweet, so I can eat several at a time...HA HA...and I did! read more
