Pat Requested mini split service (which they had originally installed). It was not cooling well. The tech Juan said it needed cleaning and UV lights. The following week another technician (Junior) who came to install the UV lights. Junior struggled for over 2 hours and could not finish the job. After that time, he said the real problem was that the blower was faulty and that Juan had misdiagnosed the problem. He did not reassemble the unit as he was coming back the following day with a new blower and that the blower would be "free of charge". That was weird that Badger Bob's would not charge me for it. I am positive he broke the fan while he was trying to put the UV lights on and therefore he was not charging me for a new blower. He returned the following day with the blower and still could not assemble the unit back. He called another technician for help and then broke the wheel of the mini split. Still today, no response from BBob's customer service and I have no A/C in my garage. If you can avoid this company, do it!! read more

I had a service contract with this company when I lived in Sarasota and I found the HVAC service to be top notch however the two plumbers that they sent out were unprofessional. One plumber installed and outside spigot and did not use current valves but rather the outdated valves that they're trying to get rid of. But it was the second plumber that they sent out when I had a whole house back up who was unpleasant rude nasty mean and did not finish the job nor did he or his managers return my phone calls to come out and finish the job. I felt like the second plumber was discriminatory and it's my honest belief that most of the employees here could use some customer service diversity training. read more

I have never written a review but needed to pass on my extreme displeasure with Badger Bob Services in Sarasota, Florida. We bought a new home with HVAC installed and maintained by Badger Bob. After only a year or so, the system motor needed replaced. We learned that the motor was under warranty but the labor to install was not covered. To make things worse, they wanted to charge me twice. First, for a used motor until the new motor arrived, then for the installation of the new motor. Last year, we had no a/c and was told that we needed a new compressor. Again, the compressor was under warranty but the labor( for 3 hours of work) would cost me $2,100! Again this year, the a/c wouldn't work! They again stated that compressor was bad and it would cost me $2,000 to install. After I complained, they sent out another technician and he stated" the compressor is fine". Do I need a compressor or not? Did I really need one last year? I have spoken to very nice people in their office but none have the authority to address the issue. They said the they would have someone call me in 24 hours. It have been 7 days and no one has called. Do yourself a big favor, don't use Badger Bob. read more

I've been using BADGER BOB'S for my air conditioning in every home I've lived in here for around 25 years. They have always done a great job and I've always highly recommended them and I always give them a 5 star rating which I just did on September 19 when they came out for my twice a year maintenance. The technician Joel was here for over an hour and did an excellent job. Now I'm not sure if another company bought them but I have noticed a big change in their customer service and communications. 1) I received a letter around 2 1/2 weeks ago saying I needed to make an appointment for my maintenance. I was out of town for labor day weekend and I didn't receive it until I got home the day after so I called to set an appoinment up and they told me it would be on September 12 between 1-4 PM. The letter also said that if i would wanted to renew my contract it would be $147 but when I called them up to make the appointment the person I spoke to said the fee was $157 and I asked him why it had gone up up in a week or two and he said he was not aware of the letter I received and he was very nice and said he would send me a $10 refund which he did. 2) Then on the morning of September 12 I received a call saying that my appointment was scheduled for September 19 between 2 and 5 and NOT that afternoon! Not sure why the change but no big deal as I am usually home running a mail order business. 3) Anyway as mentioned above the technician Joel did a great job and tried to explain to me as best as he could what he did plus showed me 10 or more pictures of my system pointing out that there was a lot of mold and mildew and asked if I wanted to schedule to have it removed for $400 or so. I asked him more about it but he's Spanish and didn't speak great English so I told him I'd call the office after he left which I did. 4) I'm not going to go over all the calls I made that day but I spoke to 3 people (all Spanish and all very hard to understand except that each said that someone would call me back. No one did.) 5) I called yesterday September 20 and spoke to one of the same men and asked why no one had called me back and got the same answer which is that someone would call me back. 6) It is now Wednesday September 21 and still no call back. UPDATE!!!! - IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 22, 2022! STILL NO WORD FROM ANYONE AT BADGER BOB'S!! INCREDIBLE!! UPDATE # 2: - SEPTEMBER 23, 2022.....STILL NO CALL BACK!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Anyway I thought this review might help some people decide if they want to use BADGER BOB'S. Well, we thought they were a decent company to deal with when we bought our new refrigerator from them a little over 2 years ago (and it was still under warranty) and believed them when they said that because of that we were to receive "priority" status if we needed service. That was not the case recently when on a Saturday that refrigerator had an issue with the freezer not working. We called for service since the freezer was full of food and we didn't want to lose all of that considering the price of groceries these days. After getting the answering service and having to wait for someone to call us back, they called and informed us that "they were too busy" to come out that day and it would be Tuesday (3 days later) before they could get to us! Wow, seriously!! A freezer not freezing and someone might lose all their food in it and you expect them to wait 3 days!! Oh, and the refrigerator the customer bought from you cost them $3700.00, not just a basic refrigerator!! I hired Badger Bob's to fix a broken handle on a microwave. The microwave is installed above the 5 burner glass cooktop. After the technician left I found glass shards all over my counter pieces broken off the front edge of the cooktop. I assume a tool fell on the cooktop during the repair. I called Badger Bob's and they sent someone over to see the damage. That technician apparently used tools to open the top and in the process also chipped both sides of the cooktop (with glass shards on my counter). I was then informed by Badger Bobs that they would give me $200 for the damage, but they denied they created the damage. I explained that I had a perfect cooktop until that time and because it was glass it could not be repaired , so I expected it to be replaced. They refused. I ultimately had to sue them in small claims court and settled the case for well over $200.00. What I do not understand is why they did not apologize for the damage their technician caused, nor were they willing to replace the cooktop, which they can get wholesale, while I have to pay about $1,000 retail. They spend money advertising and they rely on word of mouth referrals, and yet they lost me as a customer due to their handling of this matter, and they lost any goodwill I could have otherwise spread. I understand accidents happen, but where is the professionalism of acknowledging the responsibility for the damage and making it right. read more

My AC stopped working I called Badger Bob for a second opinion after the first company adviced to replace my whole unit outside and inside too. HUGE price tag! Badger Bob was overall good if you have the money to spend....and don't mind tk throw out something that might be otherwise fixable. They are one of the biggest company that advertis in SW Florida. First they sent an ac technician whom checked on my ac,than a comforting agent to represent the price. The whole thing (technician check and pricing)was done in a day,but I still had to miss work waiting around. Their estimate was at the middle price range. With different warranty options and fine print at the end.... Well the 4th company who I had out giving me a "second" opinion get my AC back and running for $50!!!! It might be a temporary fix,but at least I was given a chance by the other company to get my ac fixed instead of changing the whole unit. So I'll definitely not use Badger Bob at the future and don't recommend them because they haven't even tried to fix my ac just wanted to sell me a new unit.... What I learnt from this is always shop around,just like when you buying a vehicle. When you call an ac company second opinion is always free!!! Our condo kitchen pipe was clogged below our unit and it caused all water from the floors above to flood our kitchen. Patrick from BB did heroic work fixing the issue - we had to talk with all the units above us and explain (and ask them NOT to use their kitchen for an hour), and then quickly work on fixing the issue with a "snake" well below our floor. Our Dryer wasn't drying so I contacted Badger Bobs to come out and repair it. After 3 trips with 3 different Techs in one week it still wasn't working. The first Tech told me the Vent needing cleaning, dryer still not drying. The second Tech cleaned the vent, dryer still not working. The third Tech said when they cleaned the Vent it was pushed back too far kinking the vent hose, dryer still not drying. I bought a home in Venice and the A/C unit had a Badger Bobs sticker on it. Hurricane Ian flooded my home and I called Bob's on Tuesday to come out and look at the unit. The phone was answered by a heavily (Indian?) accented woman. I explained that FEMA was coming out to inspect the damages and I needed my A/C unit inspected to see if it could be repaired or replaced. She replied that she did not know what FEMA was. I asked if she was kidding and she hung up on me. I called back on Thursday and a heavily accented male answered the phone. He said sure they could come out but wanted me to buy a $319.00 subscription for the service. I declined and hung up. read more

Second time I used them, even better than my first. Called at 9AM, they took my information; had a call from the dispatcher by 10AM, there was a plumber here by noon. Polite and knowledgeable guy; wore a mask into my home. Diagnosed my garbage disposal problem, recommended good-better-best solutions, and had the new disposal in my sink by 1:30. Area was clean and cleared of water and repair debris. Waived the visit fee (because of the purchase), then tightened my faucet handle and inspected my water heater, with good explanations for both. Minor refrigerator repair (ice dispenser flapper became dislodged) took 3 times longer because technician unfamiliar with model. He said part was broken and was going to order a new one. It did not look broken to me so I suggested he try again to put part back in. It worked. I paid $100/hour to train the tech in addition to $89 for service call. When I called for the appointment I was not told that service call charge did not apply to any labor, which has been my experience with other vendors. I received a call, a few weeks ago, from one of my neighbors. They had a problem with the electrical in their mobile home. I went there to check out the problem and found only one leg of the power, from the meter to the home, to be good. Some place under ground a wire was broken. Last year in April they had the same problem and Badger Bob came out and spliced the wire under ground. I called up Badger Bob and arranged an appointment for a tech to assess the problem. I told Badger Bob's personnel that the people had a year warranty, parts and labor. I was told they only give a 90 day warranty. The tech came out and determined the same thing I did and stated it would cost $1600 to repair. Badger Bob then scheduled a tech to come out the week after with a tracker for under ground wiring breaks. The tech, supposedly, connected the tracker to the wires and stated there were possibly more than one break under ground and it would be about 3 weeks before they could service. The cost would be around $5800. My neighbor has no air conditioning and no working stove. Thankfully the first tech moved some wires around to provide refrigerator and microwave. I find it hard to believe that Badger Bob even tracked the wire because from what I had dug up the wires didn't even go in the direction you would have expected them to go. I have called their head electrican to talk but no response in two calls. I guess, when the company merged, they have no respect for their customers any more. I am writing this to tell the community to beware. Respectability does not seem to apply to this company any more. I will make sure to recommend other companies and relay this to everyone whom I talk. read more

I purchased a new heating and cooling system from Badger Bobs March 2020. I also purchased a parts and labor warranty for 10 years. In addition I purchased a preferred customer agreement. I was told, at the time of purchase, if I had any problems especially during after hours I would have priority over others for service. Sunday night at 10:00 I determined that my air conditioning wasn't working. I called Badger Bob's for service. I was told the repair man would call me when he was on his way. At 12:30 I called again since no one had contacted me. This time I was told they had scheduled me for 9:00 Monday morning because they were booked all night. She said she was sorry that the 'supervisor' did not call me with this important detail. I feel duped as a preferred customer having paid almost $150 for this supposed service. I will be talking to the manager this morning. Very disappointed with this business. Monday afternoon I was contacted by Armando, a supervisor at Badger Bobs, saying "he heard about what happened to me. ". He said,"that is not what Badger Bobs is about and I am headed to your home to fix the problem." Armando fixed the problem and again apologized for what I experienced. I've been using Badger Bob's for about 3 years for my HVAC needs for two HVAC units doing twice a year maintenance on them and repairs if needed. So far they've been very good. Both units were originally installed by other HVAC companies, one of which went out of business a few years after installing. After that unit needed repair, it wasn't clear if the manufacturer's extended 10-year warranty covered labor or not. I called the office and received a prompt call back from Armando the operations manager and he was very professional and took care of it, as labor was covered. We have a Samsung refrigerator. That was a mistake. It's prone to repairs, has an ice maker from hell, and non existent customer service. When the hinges on the Flex pull out drawer broke, I figured no problem, just get a replacement hinge put in. Samsung customer service (a call center in India) referred me to an appliance repair outfit locally... they promptly told me they only work on warranty claims (ours was outside the giant 1 year warranty) and couldn't help us, but they referred us to another local outfit who came out... told us they'd be back within the next few days... we never heard from them, and their voice mail is full. Remembered a good experience with Badger Bob's on A/C issue, and called their appliance repair division. They had Matt out the next day... the good news is he knew exactly what we needed to repair the fridge, the bad news was that you have to replace the whole drawer front at a cost of almost 400.00... We gave him the go ahead and in two days they were back with the part, repaired the refrigerator. Matt was efficient and knowledgeable and I'm thoroughly happy with Badger Bob's to the point that they are now my go to guys for all future repairs. We had two intactions with Badger Bob. Our assessment is that they do ok service work, but they will not hesitant to way over charge you. The first time my fridge drinking water is clogged. The service man from Badger Bob took his time to take apart the Fridge, and after about one hour he told me he needed to come back with parts to fix the problem. But the diagnose costs $160, and estimates for the labor and material to replace the part will be another $240. Basically i needed to spend $160 just for the man to show up to diagnose and still was left a broken fridge. I had a conversation with their service manager who is kind enough to lower the fee to $89 which i paid. I then called another repair company who fixed the problem on the spot with $60 labor plus parts. The second interaction with Badger Bob was through my tenant, who called Badger Bob to repair a leaky toilet at our rental home. Badger Bob charged him $243.44 for about half an hour of work, and $20 dollar parts for a flapper and a supply line. An honest plumber can do this for $70 max including parts. We do understand to maintain a certain level of service, there is a lot of overhead of management, insurance, and training. Badger Bob seems to be doing an ok job in that regard as a service comapany - their invoice is always clear, they alway know who the customer is whenever i called. If one wants to pay three times of a just price for repairs, Badger Bob is a company to go for a peace of mind. Otherwise, It pays to spend a little effort to shop around and your wallet will thank you! read more
