My young, adult son had a bad fall off a bicycle one early Thurs evening going home after a long day at work. He was immediately taken to MD Now Urgent Care by his older siblings & was discharged after solely being told to see an Orthopedic without any sufficient urgency in their advice nor was he ever told there was an "actual" break. None of the paperwork reflected that either, but they sure were able to subscribe the very "questionable & highly dangerous & addictive narcotic... opioids". By Sun, my son was still swollen & in lots of pain so we agreed to take further action. He went to an actual hospital & after being told his break (1st time being told this) was pretty severe & would possibly need surgery, they chose to 1st put an extreme cast from hand to top of shoulder for a week. Follow up visit was only more frustrating being told again about how "borderline" for surgery he was yet he needed to see the doctor that had made the original call to put him in a cast 1st, but was in surgery that day & not available until the next day only before going away for a week vacation after that (keep in mind time is of the essence because a bone is healing now almost 2 weeks later). Leaving quite frustrated we called Dr. Badia's office (he'd been recommended to us). From that 1st phone call to the last visit a couple of days ago, every call, visit, or e-mail has been of the utmost professionalism & pleasant!!! That 1st call was answered by Badia's overseas coordinator whom did not have the answers for me, but was extremely pleasant, patient, understanding, considerate, & didn't let me go until she found me options or resolution. While we found out that they didn't accept our insurance they gave us the option of the Urgent Care "Ortho Now" located in same building & Dr. Badia is the director of as well. Ortho Now staff was great as well. From Mr. Eddy to the Dr. on call that day (a PA 1of3...only girl I think) whom immediately took us down to Dr. Badia anyway (whom we wanted to see to start with, remember...God is sssssooooo good all the time!!!) Upon seeing the wrist, Dr. Badia immediately said "surgery" is absolutely necessary...not "borderline". So he made arrangements to open his schedule for that same week & we were given what they call "global discount"....because they knew we had insurance, but sadly not one they take. Perhaps we are fools not knowing any better, but quite honestly we'd been tossed around long enough with lots of "ifs" & my son (20yrs) needed definitive action. So surgery for a screw to be put in his dominating wrist was performed. Dr. Badia came to sit, explain, & certainly gave us comfort both before & after the surgery. My son works in heavy lifting & has no issues post surgery....like nothing ever happened. Their office staff always has a smile & willing to go an extra mile. Their techs also always have smiles & very informative, caring, & gentle. One visit they felt the patients in the lobby had been waiting too long to see the doctor & a staff member came out offering everyone a snack. I've been to many Drs offices in my life & honestly most of them have attitudes & rarely do you find any of them going over & beyond their duties to help &/or make any accommodations for their patients. This office is one of those "diamonds in the rough". Oh & Elvia is super duper special!!! I wish I could remember everyone else's names....since all them have been special in one way or another!!! The star of show knows he is a star & we were slightly weirded out by his desire to photograph his work, but hey....he's obviously good at what he does & he knows it... LoL!!! read more

I am from the Cayman Islands. On 5th March 2011, I received trauma resulting in fracture(s) to my left wrist. I was not attended by an ortho surgeon until 13 days later. The Ortho Surgeon after taking an x-ray told me I would have to have surgery done on the wrist or I would lose the use of my hand. I was devastated. I asked when and he said asap - would my next question was where and who would do this surgery. I was told by the Ortho Surgeon that I needed a hand-specialist/surgeon and he knew one in Miami to whom he refer me. That was Friday 18th March - by Monday 21st everything was arranged for my surgery to take place at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in Doral Florida. I arrived at the Center on Wednesday 23rd March and completed necessary documentation, evaluated by Dr. Badia and his colleague and scheduled for surgery at 8.00 a.m. Thursday 24th March. Dr. Badia and his staff made me feel so at ease and I had no pre-surgery jitters at all and put all my trust and confidence in Dr. Badia to do his utmost best for me and God to work through his servant. After approximately two hours of surgery I came face to face when I awoke, with Dr. Badia who told me the left distal radius ORIF (open reduction and internal fixation) - (metal plate and screws to hold the bone together) surgery went well and I would be as good as new. I was released to my hotel to rest. After the 6th day I returned to Dr. Badia for my post-op check. (I had been given pain killers and anti-inflamatory medication of which I only used half) as I never felt any pain or discomfort. Everything checked out perfect - I was released to go back to Cayman with a follow-up consultation in 3 weeks - I was amazed at the way my arm was transformed and every day after was amazing as I worked on my chores - after only 2 weeks from surgery - and how I was able to have my left arm participate in my chores of cooking, making mango jam, and holding the steering wheel sometimes, even with the cast on. The cast was removed in the 4th week and I have been going through my usual chores using both my hands - left one not being as strong as the right but after going through therapy and today is my 67th day (9 weeks and 2 days) from surgery, I am typing this review using both hands. The Therapist told me once I could make a full fist I would be ahead of the curve and I am happy to say that happened today. I was the happiest person in the world. I can bathe, cook, drive with my left hand taking an active part along side my right hand. Believe me, I don't baby this left hand, I am careful not to over work it but most times the hand responds automatically and wants to be a part of my life, and this shows that it is willing and able and ready to resume in my life where it left off, when I could have become a 'one-armed' 62 year old grand-mother and not be able to enjoy the rest of my life, but for that fortunate day when Dr. Badia performed yet another miracle, I am so grateful. I am sure he has another star added to his crown!! May God bless him with a long life so his gift may be used to God's glory. At the outset, let me be clear about what you'll read in my review. Dr. Alejandro Badia is a superior hand surgeon and a great human being. His Badia Hand to Shoulder Center provides wall-to-wall service and leaves nothing out. At my age, 64, I have visited a number of doctors and had a few surgeries. Dr. Badia ranks at the very top, with regard to expertise, skill, and the human qualities that make a visit to a surgeon as pleasant as possible. The center is highly efficient. I was scheduled for an initial visit, and although I came all the way from Alaska, when I entered the office I was greeted warmly by an office staff that I now regard as friends. The wait to be seen by a technician was short, and when I met Dr. Badia, he already had in hand both the x-rays of my hand that I had sent earlier and those taken moments before by the technician. In a very easy and pleasant manner he described what he would do to repair my arthritic thumb the next day. I felt well informed and reassured. The Surgery Center at Doral, which is located just across the hall from Dr. Badia's offices, was another pleasant surprise for me. Again, the staff was fast, efficient, and very caring. I reported to the Surgery Center the day after my initial visit to Dr. Badia's office. The outpatient surgery on my thumb took about a half hour, and I was on my feet walking out the front door in no time. All in all, for the surgery, I probably spent no more than four hours at the Surgery Center. I experienced only some minor soreness in my thumb and truly never had any actual pain. The following day I revisited Dr. Badia's office and the original bandage came off the thumb. After Dr. Badia had examined it and made certain all was well, I was outfitted with a cast that would stay on for about six weeks. Again, Dr. Badia and his staff worked quickly, but were warm, friendly, and reassuring. Before long I was back in Alaska with a "new" thumb. You may want to know about billing. Dr. Badia, his staff, and the staff at the Surgery Center rank as saints in my book. The patience they have shown in working with insurance is wonderful. I had got a pre-certification for my surgery, and the insurance company even provided that same pre-certification directly to Dr. Badia's staff. Still, they delayed and gave both the doctor and me the run around for months. Dr. Badia's staff patiently sent additional information and persisted until the insurance paid, leaving me with no remaining balance at all. There are two morals to this story: Get yourself a fine doctor with a good staff - like Dr. Badia and his staff - and then don't give up on the insurance company. No insurance company cares whether the doctor gets paid, and they don't care if you end up owing. Only persistence and skill bring them around. Finally, through the whole process of preparing, traveling, intake, surgery, and recovery I was helped and guided by two fine ladies in Dr. Badia's office and one in the Surgery Center. Though Dr. Badia is the best doctor I ever have known, he also has surrounded himself with the highest quality staff I ever have met. As an airline pilot who has been flying sophisticated aircraft around the world for the past 38 years, I found myself with numbness and pain with my right hand in 2011. After going to several doctors in the Treasure Coast area, Dr. Badia was highly recommended. I was skeptical until I went to his Doral office and saw that he had his own machines to diagnose on the spot instead of sending you to a different center. Dr. Badia diagnosed trigger finger and carpal tunnel and surgery was scheduled within a week. I am now 3 years post op and pain free thanks to Dr. Badia and his very caring staff. In November of 2013, I injured my left elbow and had tried to nurse it along however the pain is sometimes unbearable. I went once again to Dr. Badia in July, 2014 and he performed an ultrasound (again, he had the proper tools in his office saving me time since I drive 2 hours to Miami). He found that I had the equivalent of "Tennis Elbow" which I had in 1986 with my right arm. I was very nervous about this because the healing and rehabilitation time was over 3 months when I had the surgery in 1986. Dr. Badia performed the latest technique which involved ultrasound being applied directly to the area which cleans up the shredded tissue and aspirates the fluid and lastly, removes the bad tissue. I am now 3 days post op and my arm has minimal pain. In no way am I affiliated with Dr. Badia or the Hand to Shoulder Center however I am a huge advocate. This was my first surgery. I was diagnosed with a rare case of bone disease - called Keinbock's disease of the lunate. After unsuccessful search for the right doctor in New York I was referred to Dr. Badia. Who offered me a less intrusive option for a surgery, taking into account my age and activity level. On the day of the surgery I arrived at 8 AM, waited a few min, to be escorted to the surgery waiting room, where I was changed into a comfortable hospital closes. Had a time to read my favorite magazine The staff were all very friendly and made me feel very comfortable about my operation. The center is small, very clean, and has the latest technology. Few minutes later I was rolled into an operation room - very light. I felt the IV - it was a local anesthesia. Few min after I was fast asleep and woke up with a light cast on my arm sitting back in the waiting room. The dizziness was gone in about 30 min , I changed into my clothes and I was on my way home at 12PM - a total of 4 hours! After the surgery I felt some pain for the next few days, but nothing like what I expected it would be. Now it has been almost 5 week and there is no pain at all! I am a Firefighter / Paramedic. I tore my bicep tendon on a call lifting a patient. I was recommended to the Hand and Surgery center by Workman's Comp and let me tell you, I am so glad that they did. From the initial consultation, to my final discharge and clearance back to full duty, Dr Badia and his staff were true professionals. They made everything extremely easy. All exams , tests, preps and even the actual surgery was done in one place. They worked closely with my HR dept as well as Workman's Comp to see that approvals were received in a timely manner so that nothing was delayed. Followups were a breeze and once I was ready, they organized the physical and occupational therapy. In only 3 months, I am now back to work on full duty and feeling awesome. My husband and I live in Seville, Spain, but we spend 3 months of the year in Miami, FL. I recently had a swollen finger and had been to an Emergency Clinic in Coral Gables. They took X-rays and prescribed antibiotics, but were stumped as to what the cause of the swelling might be. They recommended Dr. Badia's Clinic. I was given an appointment very promptly and my stay in the very attractive waiting room was short. X-rays were taken and when I saw Dr. Badia he immediately diagnosed the problem as a wearing away of the cartilage between the distal bones of my finger. He prescribed a joint support dietary supplement and I have been doing much better. Dr. Badia's explanations were precise and detailed. Although I am fully covered by two European health insurance companies, the care I received did not cost an arm and a leg. All in all, it was a perfect experience from beginning to end! As a Flight Attendant I rely on my hands for Safety and Service. . Dr Badia did Joint Replacement on both my Thumbs. Each procedure (done at separate times) took about 45 minutes. I had minimal pain with both Thumbs, The scar on the Left Thumb, which was operated on 2/28/11 is hardly visible. My husband researched Doctors on the Internet who did minimal invasive surgery, and found Dr. Badia. Not only is Dr.Badia an EXCELLENT and OUTSTANDING Surgeon, he is also very kind and attentive and takes the time to answer all questions and concerns you might have. Don't believe the fake 5 star reviews. They are written by his P.R. company. These "reviewers" all coincidentally have 0 other reviews and all say the same exact thing about their exciting "jobs" that only Alejandro Badia could get them back to. Isn't it a little suspicious when they are all 5 stars and not 4 or 3. The real reviews by actual patients who reside in Miami are the 1 and 2 star reviews. Badia is a huge egomaniac and he made me wait 3 hours just to tell me he would be leaving early and wouldn't see me. He still charged me for it though, class act. I was eventually able to see that quack again, he was supposed to reattach a nerve and failed miserably, the $12,000 bill was a nice touch though! The damage is permanent. His practice is about image and money, nothing more. His staff are exactly the money-grubbing cheapskates that the real reviewers saw. I Was referred to Dr. Badia's Hand to shoulder center, and had to have surgery on my right rotator cuff. The levelof professionialism and care i received was the best i have ever had from a meidcal center in my entire life. the surgery was explained to me by Dr. Badia , before and afterhe completed the surgery i was shown what was done, and the after care was the tops. His entire staff is to be commended, the whole center is extremely caring and professional. I am now able to use my arm again and on home therapy. i will never forget the manner in which i was taken care of, and the assurance and love i was shown by especially Eneida Cruet, Racqhel, Gi Gi, and others. My mother, (88 years old) fell and broke her elbow in August.2013. She had surgery and for over a year her bones did not heal properly and she had constant pain. Through various recommendations we found Dr. Badia. We sent him the x rays and MRI for his evaluation. He suggested total elbow replacement surgery which was done in Aug. 2014 . The surgery was outpatient , in at 9 am, out by 4 pm and pain for over a year was gone. The surgery, the surgery center Drs.and staff were all outstanding. The follow up care and attention was also outstanding. We have nothing but praise for the total experience with Dr Badia and his hand to shoulder center. Wow...All I can say is this... I had Rotater Cuff surgery repairing a total tear with retraction. My Rehab Therapist said I needed to be a Poster Child for recovery from this surgery. It all starts with a great surgeon and a great surgery. The rest is up to you and rehab. When it all comes together, you end up with 100% recovery. Ive been out of surgery for 3 months and already back to my construction job. Dr. Badia is the worst surgeon I have ever encountered not to mention he's prejudice and racist, don't be fooled by his charm when first meeting him. He gets a thrill out of doing surgeries, then treat you like trash, not to mention he doesn't have 1 African American working in none of his facilities. Dr. Badia doesn't give you time to heal, expects you to heal with in a month after a major surgery. They way he talked to me and treated me will be reported to the board.
