I've eaten here a few times, pretty consistent if you've gone to a Bagel Factory before. Reason price for bagel and hot drink, definitely one of the better places in Dun Laoghaire to get a bit of lunch. read more

I haven't been to a Bagel Factory in ages for some unknown reason…read more That day I had a lot time to spend while waiting for my car to get fixed around the corner. So I started with a chicken Caesar on a multiseed bagel and a cappuccino. The bagel might have been a bit too crisp / dry but still tasted like I remembered and liked them. Later I had a hot chocolate with marshmallows (surprisingly two big ones) and an americano and for lunch a chilly tuna melt again on a multiseed bagel - this time perfectly fine. In total I spend a good four hours here and loved the atmosphere. As it is a bit off the beaten track it's rather people from the surrounding offices coming in - a lot of them regulars that got greeted accordingly. The staff didn't mind at all me sitting there for so long and was very friendly to me and everyone else. But most of all I enjoyed how relaxed it was sitting there. So even if you're just sitting down for one bagel or sandwich - being surrounded by features of a Georgian house - even with mantelpiece - makes you feel like sitting in a living room.

My gf had a breakfast bagel, which comes with a small coffee till noon (~5 €). They have two outside tables, so you can sit outside while you enjoy your breakfast. They have breads, pastries, cakes, biscuits and desserts of different kinds. They also have nice bagels here and their bread theme is about varieties from different parts of the world like France, USA, Ireland, UK and perhaps other European countries. The only thing missing for me was the dense seeded breads so common in Germany. It would be nice to have one or two of those here. Their stuff is good and I loved their fruit scones, granary bread and bagels. Happily come here again. Staff are nice and their products are fresh.

I came quite late to the whole bagel craze ("look, bread with a hole in it!"), and I must confess…read morethat I am very conflicted about the whole enterprise. Now it is true that the Breakfast Bagel from The Bagel Bar is pretty aces, and with a spot of tomato relish is bordering on the divine. And while €5.50 for what is essentially a sandwich is a little steep, you can sit down and eat it in comfort, so that's ok. My beef with the bagel is that no matter how big the filling (and a Breakfast Bagel's filling is pretty decadent), I find that you're never really filled up. Maybe it's the hole or something, but a filled bagel never completely fills me. And, I was rather shocked to learn that a bagel contains the equivalent of FIVE SERVINGS OF BREAD! Holy mother, something that doesn't even fill you up has enough carbohydrate to set your ass jiggling for weeks on end! Me, I'm going to stick to bread that is in slices, thank you very much. You know where you are with bread that comes in slices.
