Amazing place to visit, hike, drink eat etc…read more I hike most of the trails between the 5 towns and they are spectacular. You can even take the train or a water taxi between them depending. The highlight for me was the final hike from the most southern town Riomaggiore all the way to Portovenere....8 miles 2500 feet of elevation gain and stunning view after stunning view. You even pass by a monastery great little outdoor restaurants etc. Bucket list item

My Italian relatives have been members of this beach club for generations so naturally when I arrive (a true American) I am greeted like a celebrity. As for the club it occupies a wonderful stretch of the lido di camiore beach, which although is no pi pi island certainly has italian charm. All of the orders are very friendly and the beach chairs are clans and laid out every morning so all you have to do is bring your sunscreen. If you are every in the wonderful city of lido this beach club is a must.

It's got…read morestriped umbrellas, rocks to climb on and a great sunset view...go here for the nostalgia more than to be wow'ed...its clean and nice and all that but the charm is it's history. In Italians' hearts this is a special place. Castiglioncello is pricey and still hanging on to it's hey day but check out the massive villas still the second homes of Italy's rich, and, the gelato from one of the many gelateria's is good. The gran cafe Gino's at the fork in the road at the centre of the village is famous, they have good panetone around Christmas too!
