This Hauptbahnhof is the central train…read morestation for the city, and has several platforms with efficient trains that'll whisk you across Germany! They have automated ticketing kiosks that accept credit cards. Unfortunately, when I went and tried the English version, it still wasn't too clear, and apparently, I purchased too expensive of tickets for the route that I was taking. D'oh! I ended up getting told by the ticket taker on the train that I bought tickets that were more euro than what I needed. Oops! The train station is attached to a shopping mall, so there's places to grab a cup of coffee or grab some chocolate. All the platforms are outdoors, and it gets cold out there! They had stacks of salt stowed away to thaw out the platform when it freezes over. The station did have elevators leading to all the platforms, which was nice when travelling with luggage. I ended up departing from here to Munich. The train ran on time.

There are shops to grab some food and drink as well as some magazines or such to keep you entertained on the train. Public restrooms are available, but as in most of Europe be prepared and bring some change to pay for entrance. The upside is that the public restroom are generally spotless.

Upon arrival, I didn't see any taxi nearby, came in to the information desk to ask them to call for a taxi for us. 10 minutes walk to the old town area or 900CZK by taxi. Several stores (food court type) at the train station entrance and price of food and drinks were reasonable. Wi-Fi on the platform was weak but good enough for a quick Yelp check in. Very clean and safe train station.

Like many stations, nowhere really to wait other than standing around in the halls. And the station…read morehas wifi, but you are limited to 10 minutes per day before you have to pay for it. Really interesting historic building -- be sure to go out the front and take a look. 10 minute walk to the compact old town.
