There's a board where you can see the schedule and what platform each train is leaving from. There are restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and chocolate shops at the station. I can't speak on restrooms since I didn't use them but every restroom I've used in Switzerland has been clean. Outside the Hauptbanhof, there are buses, taxis, and trams to connect you if you're staying somewhere away from this station. But there are hotels within walking distance from here. I've taken trains to/ from Zürich Hauptbanhof in the afternoon, early morning and at night and I felt safe regardless of the time of day.

We were greeted by the voice of "Heidi" and a projected field of cows in the tunnel of the Skymetro. What a great welcome! We went through passport control rather smoothly. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Claiming our luggage through baggage claim went very well. On departure, we originally couldn't find the American Airlines check-in area. Fortunately, there are staff everywhere to assist you. Going through security was quick after scanning our boarding pass to enter. There's an escalator that takes you up through the DF Shop to get to the gates. That shop has automated kiosks to help with those last minute purchases. There are lots of food options and shops once you get past security. You'll get a goodbye message from "Heidi" when taking the Skymetro back to the international (E) gate. It was a very warm & worry-free experience!

But this is a major station that's close to a lot of bars, restaurants, clubs, and the Abaton movie theater, so kind of unavoidable. No one who worked there or drove there knew what was going on. Got there 45 minutes early. Asked "front desk" and she had no idea what was going on, that we'd have to ask the drivers, or the right direction to point us, and the drivers had no idea which people they were taking. Unorganized, untimely, disappointing, and unprofessional. We are rescheduling for next Monday so I hope that will go better. NOT saying bad experience or anything, but the SERVICE was awful.
