On a weekend, one can easily go there and hop around the area for different types of music (electronic, reggae, hip hop...you name it, they will most likely have it). If you get the munchies after a long night out, no worries, there is a food stand conveniently situated there to satisfy your cravings. But I am giving 4 stars for its rock music venue (Halle). I like the size of the venue, not too big but wide enough to move around the crowd. The acoustics of the place was decent when I went (it was an indie rock concert). Prices for beers are average-priced, but they sell the local Munich craft beer (Crew Republic), which gets bonus points from me. Whether it's a concert or a dance party, it's worth the trek to go to Backstage. (Ok, it's not too much of a trek as it's still within Munich city perimeters...but I'm lazy to travel more than 20 minutes to go out.)

The venue is not too big, just how I like it. However, if it's a sold-out (or close to) show, then it can be choatic. We saw a rock band played there, and people were pushing each other, spilling beers, shouting. For me, I was engulfed within a circle of tall people that I had no chance of even seeing the band. Next time I go, a bit of better planning (go earlier) + better luck = better experience.

It is a charming and affordable one-ring circus and the show is always entertaining. The acts are outstanding and the venue is the perfect size. There are not really any bad seats in the house. Arrive early and watch the charming pre-show horseback rides for the children and also the birthday honors bestowed upon anyone (no matter their age) celebrating their birthday. This year's show is dedicated to the late Cristel Zembach Krone. Although she is no longer with us, her beloved horses certainly are!

It is some test of wills. It might have been an isolated experience for me, but the crowd was slightly aggravating (probably because of the restricted space). I heard people arguing with one another, and some man pushed my arm away when I was trying to take a photo. If you are to catch a specific band and want a less frustrating experience, then go early. For a short person like me, there are areas to stand by the sides of the venue where one can stand higher.

You cannot see the stage from the apparent standing portion of the bar. Stumbled into this jazz club at 1 in the morning after a whole day at Octoberfest and scootering around Marienplatz with my best friend... Only ordered water (lol) but the atmosphere while the jazz player (a fellow American!) played was so mesmerizing ... every party there (it was packed as it is a small little bar) sat in silence as they just listened and watched the jazz players do their thing!
