This business was completely unprofessional from start to finish. A gluten free cake request was confirmed on the initial phone call before any deposit was sent. My wife clearly stated she needed a gluten free cake. Hours later, the business owner sent a follow-up text, even though the dietary requirement had already been discussed. After we sent the deposit, which was described as non-refundable, an additional $15 charge was suddenly added. I explained there was a misunderstanding and that we would rather not move forward. Instead of handling it professionally, the owner became defensive and dismissive. During the call, we were spoken to in a condescending and hostile tone. I responded in a condescending tone to match theirs, and the owner abruptly hung up. After the call, the owner later sent a text instructing us not to contact the business again, even though we had not called or texted back. The deposit was refunded, but the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional. This was never about the additional $15. It was about honesty, transparency, and professionalism. Instead of acknowledging the misunderstanding, the owner doubled down, deflected blame, and personally attacked a customer. Even more concerning is that the owner's response tries to attack my character publicly instead of addressing the facts. They brought up a dealership review from eight years ago, which was simply about negotiating a vehicle purchase, to claim we "bully" businesses. This is irrelevant and clearly an attempt to discredit us rather than take responsibility. Based on this experience, it is clear that accountability does not exist at this business, and that they are more focused on trying to silence or detract from what occurred than taking responsibility. Readers can decide for themselves. Update: Additionally, after I responded to the original reply, the business owner edited their response and changed the story, context, and accusations in an apparent effort to further discredit me. I have attached screenshots showing the original version of the post for transparency. Update 2: The business owner previously responded by publicly sharing my private information. I reported the comment to Yelp, and Yelp removed it after determining it fell outside their Content Guidelines. I've been meaning to write this review for a while... I was searching for a cake for my daughter's 16th birthday party. I found Bake My Day through Yelp and was encouraged by the great reviews. I contacted her via text and she got back to me right away. We had some back and forth via text so we hopped on a quick call to sort out the details. I'll echo what another reviewer stated, that communication can be short and stiff. Upon agreement of the quote, I was sent a lengthy text of protocol for the purchase process and what was expected, including a deposit via Venmo or Zelle to reserve the cake, date, time, etc. Not a problem. The day of pickup, I was sent another lengthy text about the pickup process and to schedule an official pickup time. I was informed to not be late or I'd be charged extra, and also informed the schedule was booked until a certain time in the day. It was at that time I noticed she requested cash on pickup. Thankfully I had it on me already. Totally my bad, but there were a lot of rules and it's easy to not pay attention to that many details when you're also in the midst of planning a party. I do understand this is a small business and she has to have parameters set in place to protect herself and her business. Then I received a text I could pick up early, so we headed over once I saw that, but again I didn't see her ask for a revised time. So we ended up waiting for her to return for a bit before we could complete the process. What was lost in communication and process, was made up for in quality and taste. Honestly, probably one of the best cakes I've ever had, especially for either one of my kid's birthdays. My daughter chose a chocolate cake, with caramel filling and chocolate icing. It was like a giant Twix bar, and it was awesome. I would consider ordering from here again, especially now that I know the process. It just may be a little stressful if you have a lot going on for whatever you're planning, in addition to the cake. read more

Update: After I left my review the seller texted me on my cell phone the below. Again, just goes to prove the lack of professionalism and how rude they are. I am including the actual screen shot of the message as well in case they try to deny it. "You are an ungrateful customer and you fail to pay attention to details that were very important. Please do not contact us for any reason" Terrible customer service. I ordered the cake for my daughter's birthday. I gave a deposit and scheduled a pick up day. Since they ended up adding detail to my cake extra deposit was given, so total $70 for deposit. The date of the cake pick up, my time was 130pm, at 1pm, I texted the lady to let her know my husband would pick it up and I would zelle the rest of the money. I sent $85 via zelle. She called me immediately, and said I paid her wrong and I wasn't supposed to zelle, it should have been cash, as she told me at the time of order. Obviously I missed that detail, so I apologized and explained that I actually did pay the full deposit. Then she said well you didn't account for taxes.....ok, so how much do I owe you? $12. Ok, no problem. She just kept repeating g how it's would have been cash and she also told me about the tax. But mind you, she never actually sent me total amount to include the tax. So I finally had to say, it's not a big deal, I will pay you, no need to get sassy. She was the most defensive, unprofessional person I have possibly ever dealt with in a small business. She kept saying I'm defending myself and you were supposed to pay cash. So I finally said, okay if you'd like I can bring cash and you can just zelle me back what I paid you. Then she went on and on how she doesn't have time to be doing all this, she is busy and has two orders due at the same time, and then said "do whatever you want".....mind you this was my daughter's birthday so I am just as busy preparinf for the party. I hired a service to help me not make our day worse. In addition, once the cake came home, the icing started slidding off of it, so I had to fix it and it looked a total mess. Basically I paid $167 for terrible service and a ruined cake. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The most unprofessional small run out of home business I have ever dealt with. It's so sad to see. For my birthday this year, I decided I wanted to contact Christine again to make my cake. I had a specific vision of wanting the Jellycat Birthday Cake, and texted Christine some reference photos asking for pricing, and she responded right away with the information. After confirming the flavor I wanted (white with vanilla buttercream frosting and strawberry jam) and sending the deposit, I knew I had nothing to worry about. Christine confirmed the pickup date and time a week in advance, and if you ever have any questions she is just a text away and responds timely, As for the cake, presentation-wise and flavor-wise you will never find anything as amazing as the cakes she makes. Not only did my vision for the cake absolutely come to life and was almost too cute to eat, but I personally love the white/vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream combination. Even for white/vanilla cake, it is still so flavorful and offers that perfect balance of sweet but not overly sweet. Even my dad (who is not a sweets person) tried the frosting and was so impressed that he cut himself a slice and ate the whole thing within a couple of minutes. I have no idea what Christine's secret is to her amazingly great cakes, but I have never found anything like it.
