I had to stop and investigate. "As fantastically beautiful a place as I have ever seen," said one of its first tourists in the late 1800s, a young rancher named Teddy Roosevelt. And there's a guy who knows beautiful places. The park is self-service with envelopes at the entrance where you're expected to fill out your details and put the entrance fee into a lockbox. As much as I was tempted to explore, I knew that I had a busy day of driving ahead. As well, I was alone and there's no cell service out here so if something happened, it might be a while for help to come through. So I took some pictures at the entrance and then a few more from the road and moved on. There's a very helpful spring at the entrance. The water tasted crystal clear.
