The kickoff to BC was just okay for us. My husband and I came here for lunch. Wait time wasn't super long. They have a pretty good menu selection and it's decently priced. My husband had the French toast and said he wanted the lemon curd and blueberry compote on top of the French toast. Instead what they did was put the blueberries inside the bread. I had the smashburger with onion rings. Burger was delicious and onion rings had good flavor, but WAY too salty. The reason for the 3 stars was the wait time for the food. We had 2 other tables sit after us, order after us and finish their meal and pay before we even got our food. That is absolutely ridiculous. The server was friendly, but didn't provide an update on the wait times. Lastly, the 3.5% surcharge that is "temporary" is also ridiculous. VA charges an entertainment tax of 6% AND sales tax already....I have NO idea why this is a thing. I would come back to try other things but would expect the surcharge to be eliminated and for them to iron out some busy-time nuances. read more

Large portions of "good enough" food. I arrived with a second wave of guests to join our larger party of 7 guests. I ordered the Jamaican French toast and immediately had regret when I saw that someone else had already ordered the other French toast style and was giving a mundane review of it. However, I hope the spiced rum addition and banana would spice mine up well. It wasn't bad but the flavor accents didn't really accent the way tryst I would have liked. The side of hash browns were well toasted but also had a generic taste about them that I did not dislike but it'd also not make me rush to order this. The mimosas were a pretty good price and had decent sized pours. It was the closest thing to bottomless mimosas that you can get in a place that doesn't offer bottomless mimosas. Well - I have yet to dine her or try the food, but last Saturday, my husbae and I were on the quest for a Saturday happy hour. Happy Hour really does not apply to him, because he drinks the same thing and 9/10 it is not a happy hour affiliate drink. He appreciates my Yelp vibe and knows I love to try new places - happy hours - craft cocktails - I love an experience. And if he can make that happen so be it! Welp... I remember some years ago, this place having a happy hour when I was on a quest for a sugar fix... but the dessert I was looking for they did not have... but my memory serves me well. This location does have a daily happy hour and it includes, drinks and food - now anytime a place has both this is automatically 5 stars!!! A standout above the rest. Even in the state of the world, this place still honors happy hour and I fully support them! We arrived about 4pm and I believe happy hour is from 3pm - 6pm or 4pm to 6pm - check out the pictures, I think I included the timeframe. I asked the bartender - Ashley - I believe- what she recommended. I looked over the craft cocktail menu - during happy hour those listed are $8 and I didn't see much that interested me. I love a cocktail, but I like simplicity too. The cocktails listed had about 4 to 6 ingredients and that's too much for my spirit. Now...one caught my eye - the Lemon Lavender Martini - the ingredients were in my ballpark. I ordered along with a glass of Pinot Noir and Riesling. The cocktail was phenomenal!! Let's just say when I return I am ordering the same three drinks!!! My babe had his usual, crown and sprite and Ashley made it just right. Two for him before we closed out the tab. We sat at the round bar area and before we departed the bar started to fill up by 6pm. I believe TV's are at the bar - it's not super huge, but cute and intimate. Seating for about 10 maybe 12. This place was lovely. My first time taking a seat and enjoying the vibes and it was definitely five stars!! We will return sooner than later - esp knowing they have a daily happy hour. They just keep backsliding, and I hate that because they have so much to offer. The BC of 15 years ago was just incredible (man, if they still had Helena and Beverly managing the place, not a bad meal would be served!). Something needs to change and I hope the owners are paying attention. We ordered carry-out again last night at around 5:15 pm. They informed us 10-15 minutes so my husband hustled over. I assume they weren't very busy considering the quick turnaround time. Our order: the Smashburger, sauce on the side, for hubby with parmesan chips, a little burger for my daughter with fruit and the Mediterranean salad for myself. Once hubby got home, he had no chips, so I advised he call to let them know he was returning for the chips and ask for another burger (since the original would be cold by the time he returned). He called and let them know. Back to the Crust for the new burger and chips. He said no one offered any kind of compensation or apology for his having to return. Customer service leaves much to be desired here. Once he got home, he found they put his sauce on the side AND on the burger. The burger was cooked fine, but was SOOOO salty. My daughter wouldn't touch hers, but ate the bread and fruit, which never happens. I tasted a bite of it and, indeed, it was like a salt lick. My salad was a huge portion, but the crispy chickpeas were chewy and the lettuce was probably at its peak more than a few days ago. Their prices just don't justify the quality of the food. I definitely would recommend Bakers Crust. I've had this location and the Ashburn location. I would not recommend going to the Chesapeake location during extremely busy time or if you have a really large party. It seemed as though our waiters were a little overwhelmed. As far as taste goes they're always good just this time our food was extremely cold. However I do give grace when you have a really large party during busy times. The feeling the restaurant gave this time was rushed and not a relaxed atmosphere. read more

Amazing happy hour! This will be my new happy hour spot! Happy hour starts at 3pm not sure when it ends but the craft beers, and special cocktails are priced at $7 and they also have appetizers or small bites for $5. I love the meal choices here, they have some interesting dishes but healthy. They also have excellent desserts! If your looking for something sweet to eat I would recommend the crepes! The atmosphere is a more young artsy crowd, I see lots of people come here with there laptops and artsy hats and it makes me feel like I'm in a NYC coffee shop and I love that! read more

Today, I was disappointed in the service. The food was good overall. However, we found hair in the thai shrimp appetizer and hard piece of Plastic in my ahi tuna bowl which I almost swallowed. The fish wasn't crispy. We've been coming to this location for several years now and we're disappointed in today's service. Service has always been slow. That's not new. But the waiters and waitresses have always been great. So, we have looked past this. The manager asked us what we would Like done after we shared our experience. He apologized. We had to tell him what we expected to remove the food items from our bill. We paid for our drinks and he offered us dessert. He was apologetic for our experience. Not sure if the cooks wear a hair net but I would hope the manager will Make sure moving forward that he does. read more

So a friend and me were not having a successful day trying to get brunch. We had a place that was good. After sending food back we decided to leave. Then off to another location they were closed due to staffing shortages. Back in the car to yet another location which had a long wait time 45minutes. Which wouldn't be a problem but I have another appointment. So we decided to give Bakers Crust a try. Should of sensed something when it's a Sunday at noon and there's no wait to be seated. Plenty of seats. Plenty of staff too. So much staff that some were even able to stand around on their phone. I ordered fresh toast I believe it was the Jamaican or Caribbean. The fresh toast was extremely dry with very little flavor. The bananas were not good at all. I'm not sure they were bananas. I'm thinking they might be plantains. My friend ordered a salad with salmon. The waitress how she wanted the salmon cooked. But never bothered to come check on us after someone else delivered our food. We waited for a while for the waitress to come back , mind you there was 3 standing at the hostess stand. They walked by us several times not one of them asking if everything is okay. Finally our waitress appears and ask if there's anything she can do for us. I said we are set we will take the bill. Mind you I only ate three bites of my French toast and she didn't ask anything about it. So I shared with her that the French toast was not good at all as she can see and she asked me did I want to speak to the manager originally I did not. But then when it took her a while to bring us our bill I had told her I change my mind I think I need to share what's going on with the manager so he's aware of what's going on in his restaurant. So this very nice gentleman who introduced himself as being the manager came over and spoke to us after we informed him of everything that was going on he seemed very appreciative of us sharing our experience with him. Here again this might be another restaurant that I end up giving another shot at only because they seem to have a very good happy hour. Atmosphere: Really enjoyed eating here. Liked it enough that we went back a second night in a row. The dining area was comfortable and a little loud. The lighting was dim and helped set a good ambiance. You sit close enough to others that you can people watch and not be too interrupted in your conversation. Seating and tables were comfortable. Temperature was also good considering how hot it was outside. Not over or under air conditioned. Food: Excellent sandwiches. They have provisions that cater to gluten free and people with allergies. Ask for the allergen menu. Both times I got a sandwich and both were excellent. Service: Excellent service. Can't recall the name of our server which I feel bad about because 1) she was new and 2) she was outstanding and I would recommend asking to sit in her section. This was my first time trying Baker's Crust. I will say it didn't disappoint. The only thing negative I have to say is the French fries appetizer we got was a little underwhelming. I prefer crispy fries and these were not. On the other hand, the tomato soup was AMAZING! Normally I don't care for tomato soup, but this was phenomenal. We were given some to sample before ordering. We also ordered an off menu grilled cheese. I was expecting just some cheddar or whatever they had. The waitress offered that or a three cheese option that had cheddar, mozzarella, and goat cheese. When we moved here, we almost didn't try this place because we thought it was nothing but pizza or pastries. However, so glad we tried it... now it is one of our go-to places. I planned to pay with cash and asked if the fee could be removed, but I was told it applied regardless of whether I paid with cash or card. But because the weather was soOOo nice (70s) I had to order something refreshing!!! Ordered the wine country salad which has candied pecans, strawberry, blueberry and goat cheese topped with a raspberry vinaigrette! And it pairs well with a riesling!! My family and I had breakfast on 17SEP2023. Aileen was our waitress and she was an efficient and pleasant server. I had the two fried egg breakfast with rustic sourdough toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the toast was delicious. My wife had a Mediterranean omelette and ate nearly every bite, which is unusual. My daughter had blueberry lemon curd pancakes. The pancakes were thin and crispy and were like a great dessert. Our food was brought out quickly by Aileen and the prices were. Looking through the menu, everything sounded delicious from the brunch to the lunch. Since it was around brunch time, I stuck to breakfast but wished I had chosen lunch. To have turkey burgers, chicken/turkey sandwich meat, and even gluten free options are great...but there's only pork available for breakfast? No chicken or turkey or even vegetarian options for breakfast meat? I can eat carbs all day but I love a good breakfast meat to balance it all. I figured due to my restrictions I would be able to substitute something but that couldn't be done without a $3-$4 up charge, which is pretty steep for a seamless change. Honestly it really ruined the mood. Settled for the French toast and it was good, but not a fave. Service was just okay. As great as it would be to try their turkey burger, I doubt I would visit again due to the limitations of breakfast meats. Attended Bourbon and Burger night for the first time last night. There were 8 of us and there was a problem with the reservation time even after I had confirmed the reservation two days earlier. (I reserved for a 5:00 pm early dinner and they had us down for 6:00 pm). However, they immediately jumped into action and accommodated us despite their mistake. I appreciate the accommodation and hope the person who confirmed will pay a little more attention to detail in the future. My group skipped the bourbon and just went for the burgers. There was no skimping there. I thought there might be since the burgers were only $8.00. But it was the same burger they always serve including fries. It was a "very tasty burger". The people in our party had not seen each other for a long time and I'm afraid we stayed until 8:30 pm talking. We never felt rushed or hurried. I started feeling uncomfortable about occupying the table for so long but the staff never indicated it was a problem even though they were busy. I appreciate their understanding. It was not only a good dinner it was a great get together for us. We will return and, in fact, have another reservation. I really like this location. read more

We had a great meal at Backer's Crust, and our waitress, Rachel, was really friendly and prompt. For my meal, I had the Korean BBQ Brisket, which was absolutely fabulous. My only small complaint is that the bottom brioche roll was pretty soggy by the time the plate reached the table, and I had to eat the sandwich with a fork and knife. I also ordered the crab and corn chowder, but I wish that it had just a bit more crab and corn. If you have a sweet tooth, you gotta try the Chocolate Charlotte Cake and get it ala mode. This dessert, which is a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate mousse, is a chocolate lover's dream. Baker's Crust is a great place for groups, and the restaurant pretty much has something for everyone. Plus, it's a great meeting place before or after shopping at the nearby mall and stores. I have been to this location a couple times. My first experience was excellent. Had the avocado toast and a mimosa which was a fun combination. My only advice is not to come TOO hungry. The portions are on the conservative side which was markedly more obvious when my husband and I came very hungry the last visit. He ordered chicken and waffles and I the Maryland Benedict. There waffle was of average size (similar to what I can make at home) and there were only a few small pieces of chicken. Within 5 minutes my husband nearly devoured the entire meal and was left to pick off the breakfast potatoes on my plate. My Benedict was a little disappointing: the English muffin was barely toasted, the egg was overcooked and I had to send a search party to find my crab pieces on my plate .
