Reasonable prices for the area, and a decent selection of pastries and cakes. The croissant was not as airy as it should be, but tasted good. I had it with a double expresso. Afterwards I ordered a sourdough bread and gallette to go. The bread was nothing special. They also offer a breakfast menu and some prepared food. It can get quite busy in the morning, and sometimes the servers get frenetic. Also, people don't always wait their turn.
Wonderful coffee and bake shop! Coffee was perfectly sweet and extra hot! Service was warm and friendly!
So many delicious baked goods and wonderful aromas when you first step into this shop! It was packed at 9am on a Tuesday, with pretty much all the seats inside filled. They have a variety of viennoiseries, cookies, cakes, tarts, and other sweet and savory foods. I got the chocolate chip cookie, chocolate rugelah, snowball cookie, and cranberry orange brownie. The worker was very helpful in answering my questions and giving me her recommendations. The Chocolate Cookie 22czk was my least favorite, because it was hard and crisp, when I like my cookies soft and chewy. I did like that they used chopped chocolate and layered them, which was a nice change from the traditional chocolate chips randomly scattered all over the place. The Snowball Cookie 20czk was one of the recommendations by the worker, and it was very delicious! She told me it was a traditional Czech christmas cookie with hazelnuts. Chocolate Rugelach 65czk per 100g - I don't think she weighed this one because I had brought my own paper bag and had her put it in before she could weight it, but I'm guessing she charged me around 20czk for it. This was my first time trying it, and I read that it's a Jewish snack filled with cream cheese. It wasn't super sweet, but it was very unmemorable - I hardly remember anything about it, so I will probably pass on getting it if I'm ever back. Cranberry Orange Brownie 39czk - My FAVORITE out of my four choices. I wanted to come back another time during my short stay in Prague just for these brownies. A chewy, dense, moist brownie square bursting with cranberry and orange in every bite. Don't get me wrong, it's still 90% brownie, but the tart cranberry and orange flavors went so well with the sweet chocolatey brownie, I wish I could have had 20 of them HAHA
Yum, I'm definitely coming back to this place before we leave on Saturday. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese on croissant with a cappuccino, which they brought out to me. The woman at the front counter was nice & helpful and spoke/understood English well. They offer bagels, pastries, cookies, cakes, and these huge meringues, Oh my!! This place is a must try while in Praha.
If you want breakfast, freshly baked goods, some coffee, or people watching, you can do this all day here. It's a very active cafe with unique seats by the window that take a little effort to get into but are fun. We liked our coffees and the quiche, but the quiches had to be heated more. The croissant were also lovely. If you want freshly made eggs, there is another place near by.
Stopped by on my way to Old Town after visiting the Jewish Quarters. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looked so good. Baked goods literally starred you in the face up entering the store. Decided on a galette with apples and berries. I really enjoyed this pastry. It crunchy on the outside, but flaky at the same time. It had just the right amount of sugar sprinkled on top. I liked how it wasn't too sweet. It was packed with the right about of apples and berries, which were a little tart. I also tried the chocolate chip cookie , which was really good too. They didnt skimp on the chocolate chips and the cookie was nice and buttery. C enjoyed his mini chocolate almond cookies...so much so that he devoured one within minutes. Great place to grab a pastry and beverage. I can see why Bakeshop comes highly recommended!
Just a quick stop for us Being tourists, we were on a walking tour. It was a free tour, tips only, and stopped at this bakery for about 15 minutes to allow people to visit the WC and grab a bite to eat. We grabbed individual quiche pies, mine was ham & cheese. The place may have been busy before our group arrived but either way, it was now busy. By the time my wife and I decided what we wanted most of our break time had passed, so I ate most of my quiche after the walk had resumed. Hard to give it the attention it deserved for a review, but here I am doing it anyway. I liked the filling and wished it had more. The crust was thick and I did not eat much of it. The bakery served its purpose for us, providing some nourishment on our long walk around Prague.
I am a fan of Bakeshop! True, it's probably a bit higher in price than other local Czech bakeries, true, you might see a bunch of tourists and the place can get crowded, but overall, it's really a great place to stop by, have a cup of coffee and snack on a croissant while people watch. The first time we went to the Bakeshop, we went as soon as they opened in the morning. So we practically had the whole place by ourselves. We had a great time browsing the delicious baked goods displayed in the shop. We picked the quiche, cup of soup, and water combo, plus a cup of cappuccino and a chocolate croissant to share. Everything was delicious, especially the pumpkin soup. We did come back the 2nd time later in the week in the early afternoon and the place was PACKED. However, we were able to snatch a corner 'bar' seat, and we still enjoyed our little afternoon treat of two cups of coffee and slice of cake. So yes, though it can be a little pricier and full of tourists, it is still a great place to stop by and enjoy coffee, yummy pastries, and people watch.
3 1/2 stars. Rounded up for the quality. Heard about the good reviews here, so I decided to take it upon myself to try out Bakeshop on my last day in Prague! Came in for brunch, and ordered the pumpkin-feta quiche (which came with salad) as well as a walnut-Calvados tart. Total came out to 320 czk (about 12€, or $13 USD), which I would say is a tad overpriced. But the quiche was pretty good. The crust was thick and hearty, and the pumpkin nice and tender. My complaint would be that it could've been heated a bit longer; there were parts in the quiche that weren't heated through, so it made for a *mildly* funky experience. Feta cheese tasted extremely subtle, not like the strong, tangy stuff that I'm accustomed to. Then again, there was a ton of basil on the quiche, which overwhelmed the taste of the pumpkin and feta. The walnut-Calvados tart was a-okay: just tasted like walnut puree, not very sweet. Didn't taste the Calvados at all. Like the quiche, the crust was delicious, though. Overall, a pleasant establishment not too far from Old Town Square, albeit overpriced. It's worth a try if you're into getting a nice brunch or something small to go; the bread and pastries aren't too expensive.

My favorite was definitely the apple and brie croissant, which we had twice! Other hits were the sour cherry galette and the apricot tarte. They also have a variety of espresso drinks and smoothies. We only tried their coffee, which was strong and the perfect kickstart to our day. Bakeshop definitely gets crowded with tourists and locals alike, so be prepared to wait in the morning! They do have a lot of communal seating along the windows and walls, as well as nice benches outside.
Such a sweet little spot. Lots of opts both sweet and savory. The staff was so nice and made us feel at home. We had the ham and cheese quiche, it was the best of everything, great balance of cheese and ham with a flaky buttery crust. We also ordered a chocolate and almond croissant, both equally as tasty.

While in Prague our hotel recommended we try this bake shop and when I tell you it's the European bakery experience I'd been searching for! This place is phenomenal. The pastries are the best I've had this trip. I was highly disappointed with the cheesecake at a gelato shop yesterday so my friend purchased me cheesecake for breakfast from this bake shop and it was the best decision we've made. The apple and almond croissants were excellent in flavor and texture. The coffee... well let's just say it was good to the last drop! Highly recommend read more

I want this place close to my house. There, I said it. Everything I've tried in Prague is just too good, how is this even possible? Maybe just luck. We came here twice - once for an evening guilty pleasure- We took a cake that's called "death by chocolate" - and was very chocolate-y, very concentrated but not too sweet. And how can I skip? A macaron, one of the best ones in Prague, a bit pricy though (35 czk for a small one) And some natural lemonade (bottled) made of raspberry and pomegranate- yum. The second time was a bit less fun - one late morning, filled up with people storming on the pastries and craving for place to sit, took an onion bagel - it was very yummy but a bit dry, guess I should've asked them to hear it up just a little before I left. I'd give it four and a half if I could, but the prices were a bit irrational for some of the things and the bagel thingy. Looks like there's a lot to explore in there- the options are endless, from buying break, to just grab a cake or a little coffee & pastry or a full on meal. Overall, one of the best bakeries I've stumbled upon. Very nice staff despite the long morning line and even nicer when it's less crowded- Give it a try. read more

Delightful Bakeshop Typical coffee prices based in CZK (24 CZK to 1 EUR) Accepts all major credit cards Weekday coffee No wait This pleasant corner Bakeshop has colourful displays along its counter including of a variety of baked goods. Guests are immediately greeted by a plethora of desert trays holding a cornucopia of cookies and other treats. Immediately to the right is a glass display case of cakes. The coffee and cookies were good, not amazing, but we were satisfied, after having spent some time looking for a cafe. read more
There are so many reasons to check this place out, the croissants, the bread, the cookies... many reasons indeed. We went specifically for the secret breakfast. They don't have it listed on the menu, just on a small sign hanging on a case. The breakfast is the best in Prague and inexpensive. Make sure to order potatoes in your omelet. The potatoes have so much flavor, not like the bland tasteless potatoes you find in many US breakfast spots. We stopped here every morning before heading out for a day of sightseeing; the breakfast is so big it kept us going until mid afternoon. The stool seating is along the window and not tables, which allows you to watch the world go by. Great Lattes too. The bread is outstanding here, worth every calorie. I picked up a lovely small round loaf of rosemary sourdough to eat on our train ride out of Prague. Bonus : You can jump on the WIFI from the restaurant across the street. read more

My friend and I went here, because our Airbnb host said it was her favorite place in Prague! I'm really glad we listened, because the food was just amazing. We came for breakfast and I got the pumpkin quiche and cheesecake, because who doesn't eat cheesecake for breakfast? The quiche was just a perfect blend of flavors between the pumpkin, cheese, and flaky crust. Yum, I'm hungry just thinking about it. The cheesecake was some of the best I've had outside of New York, which is really saying something! My friend had the carrot cake which was pretty delicious as well. Overall a great meal at Bakeshop! read more

Great place not too far from Old Town Square. They have a variety of baked goods, quiches and desserts. And the coffee was great. Prices are reasonable (compared to London) - a cappuccino and a croissant came to a little over $4! They have a hot breakfast special with eggs of choice, bread, butter for 65 crowns ($2.70). A great place to power up before a day of touring! Or a perfect place to sit and have an afternoon espresso. read more

This bakery has high quality goods! I wouldn't call them a bargain, but for the quality it's worth it. We went two times in our trip to Prague and had great things both times. Although, one weird thing is that sometimes the bristles from the pastry brush come off into the food. We found two very stiff and wiry hairs in our food there and asked about it. They didn't seem like human hairs and the staff explained it's from the pastry brush and is NOT a human hair, but I've never experienced that at any other bakery. The quiches were amazing as was the almond croissant. But everything there is solidly good. I also got some of the roasted eggplant and chickpea salad to go for a train ride later and it was quite delicious. read more

[OVERALL] Super awesome café that's about a quick 5 minute walk from Old Town Square. While on the slightly pricier side, the food is amazing, and the service is quick and amicable (and everyone speaks fluent English). There's free WiFi (password: bakeshop), but there's limited seating, so try and avoid coming here during peak times. They serve breakfast until 3 PM each day. [FOOD] Omelets/Scrambled Eggs: You get to choose the number of eggs you want and a few additions to add flavor (ham, bacon, onions, tomatoes, cheese, etc.). The eggs come with toasted slices of bread and butter. The price will end up from $7-10, which is a little pricey, but it's totally worth it. I had the best omelets/scrambled eggs here. They're really light and not oily at all, and the ingredients taste nice and fresh. It's also really filling. Almond Croissant: Comes in a small and large size. This is my favorite bakery item here. These croissants are rather doughy and heavy (as opposed to flaky and light), but they taste amazing. It reminds me more of a cake than a croissant. They have a nice vanilla flavor with a slight nuttiness (from the almonds). So good and so worth. Carrot Cake: They market their carrot cake as the "World's Best Carrot Cake" - while this may not be true, the cake is damn good. It's super moist, and the frosting is creamy and not overly sweet. The outer edge is also very good. Overall, it's not overwhelming sweet but satisfies a sugar craving. Iced Latte: Pretty good. It's quite light and very creamy - overall very refreshing. read more
This place gets waves of crowds and can become quite a mess. I think it's because tour groups take breaks here. They make really good coffee and have loads of baked goods to choose from. We opted for a quick option amd grabbed a premade sandwich from the fridge. I liked the sloppy Joe (spicy Cole slaw and turkey). We got a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Yum! It was cinnamon and walnuts with nice chocolate chunks. Food here is good and quality is excellent. It kind of reminds me of home (cali). read more

Popped by here for tea time, and boy was I spoiled for choice. I got a macaroon, macarons, a slice of carrot cake, and my friend got a few cold cuts to nom down. Washed it all down with a hot chocolate. The range of cakes, pastries, and sweets here are mind-boggling. I am giving it 3 stars because my hot chocolate was the powdered sort and my carrot cake was moist but didn't have enough cream cheese in the frosting! Given one can find legit hot chocolate on the streets here, they need to up their game. I love the variety here and the seats, which have a heater behind them (the bench-style ones). Great place with a variety of baked sweet goods, cold salads buffet and hot sandwiches. Price is not cheap but as you would expect of a tourist place. The cold salad buffet goes by weight. The couscous salad and grilled asparagus were tasty. Asparagus was rather woody though (should have been snapped off before cooking). Got free flow of bread to go with the salad. Choice offered was a delicious walnut sourdough bread that was so good on its own. Also got the asparagus soup (their daily choice) and it was way too salty. Finished it with an extreme thirst. But the accompany garlic bread was crunchy and delicious. The latte was good, and we also tried their brownie, infused with bits of berries. The brownies were crusty on the top, chewy fudgy on the inside. read more
I can only speak about the pastries. As a Texan visiting Prague, I was a little disappointed that the pastries I saw at Bakeshop offered no greater variety than I would find at an American grocery store. In Texas, we have these fabulous Czech bakeries that offer dozens of varieties of sweet and savory kolaches, and I had expected that Bakeshop would have those as well. Instead, their pastry area was not that impressive. This being said, everything I ordered were excellent. I ordered a few different varieties of croissant, muffins, cookies and a huge meringue (seriously, the largest meringue i have ever seen in my life. larger than my head.), The place was very crowded, so is obviously very popular with tourists and locals. They had many quiche options, and other hot food. It was a little overwhelming to figure out which line was for take away and which was for dine-in, but the behind-the-counter staff was very helpful! The woman who waited on me even gave me a slice of pound cake gratis (I had joked that I was trying out one of everything, and she said she was guaranteeing that this was true!). She was delightful! Overall, this place is not going to blow your skirt up, but is is a good, solid breakfast option. read more

Bakeshop was a wonderful find in the most touristy district of Prague. I'm going to be honest, coffee in District 1 of Prague is awful. A lot of it is instant, mixed with too much sugar, or is too weak to be called anything but colored water. Just sad. Bakeshop offered good coffee, which by my 3rd day in Prague with family was absolutely vital, and delicious pastries. Albeit, the pastries are very much what you'd find in a coffee shop in the US (think croissants, macaroons, cakes, etc) and the local Czech flavor isn't infused into their pastry offerings, but my craving was still satisfied. Best of all, I was able to communicate in English without resorting to my broken Russian. read more
