    Mango icebox pie
    Kathy X.

Can't believe I almost passed up on these! I saw a constant line here, so I knew I had to get something. The mango ice box pie is the best! It's refreshing, and the ice cream makes for a fun dessert. The ube banoffee pie was also really good along with the ube black sesame roll. Service is really fantastic here too! But that mango ice box pie is probably one of the best desserts I've ever had!

5/15/26 Dude!!! This ube cookie is everything I expected and MORE, soft, chewy & not too sweet

#bakingwithish #ubecookie #nomnom #tamarindkalamansiblacksesameroll 5/15/26 Definitely Filipino inspired-- as the creator is Filipino bakery chef, Ishnoel from Mindanao! The ube cookie was absolutely divine, moist, chewy & not too sweet, so darn scrumptious. And it's a mouthful, what intrigued me, the Tamarind Kalamansi black Sesame roll was no slouch, Jeff warmed it up & it took it to 'nother level. Love this spot. Friendly, welcoming & the goods speak for themselves. Great place to grub & meet, just chill. Located inside Blossom Market in Sam Gabriel, a communal dining hall offering, multicultural foods from different vendors. Outdoor & indoor dining available, free parking. Great for solo ding or groups, fun & cool vibes. Music playing overhead. The second floor is great for quiet times & art displays.

Been wanting to try this spot for a while and it did not disappoint! The gentleman at the front was mixing dough and was so kind! He was super patient with our "we're ready to order...no wait give us a second" confusion. The display is simple, but don't be fooled by its simplicity. The flavors are complex! The ube cookie begins with ube, middles with a pillowy sugar cookie, and ends with a touch of salt. The mochi loaf was probably my favorite. It's a warm chewy yet light batter. Every bite is a treat all on its own. The ube roll was a genius Filipino take on a regular cinnamon roll, honestly it's better than any roll I've ever tasted. The innards tasted like Dulce de leche, with teensy bits of pistachio. The ube glaze was gentle, not too sweet or overpowering in portion. Just enough ube drizzle for every bite. This bakery is located in a mess hall type situation with a dozen other spots, so it's perfect for hanging out with friends and trying new foods. There's of parking in the lot as well as lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The flavor combos at Ish's are unique, and everything is baked to perfection. I will be back soon! I need to try some pie!

Baking with Ish knocked me out! (I'm literally so full and sleepy) I got the Pistachio Kalamansi, Spam Egg and Cheese Pandesal, and an Ube Cookie around 12 PM on a Friday, which totaled to about $28. The cashier and owner were friendly and seemed a little nervous, but I think they can be successful here. The Pandesal was an extremely rich sandwich with a cheesy, garlicky egg and two spams. It was delicious but so heavy and so rich. I wouldn't recommend this if you have a busy day ahead because this was so much to consume. The Kalamansi, on the other hand, was perfect. The pastry was heated up, so when I opened the box up in my car, the warm, nutty scent wafted out and filled the space. My husband and I love this pastry and will definitely be getting it for others as well.

Very cute bakery in a somewhat small food hall right in the heart of San Gabriel. My niece recommended we all head here for some sweet pastries after having dim sum. The owner and partner were working hard on pies and other assorted treats. My wife got some cookies and their Ube pie to try and we all had a few bites of their delicious offerings. Note they are currently right by the entrance but will be moving to a larger space directly next to it in the near future. Great treats for a quick stop or after eating at the food hall!

Baking with Ish is located inside Blossom Market, just next to Lotus & Bean. They open on Thursday until Sunday. The shop looks very clean. Their menu includes: pie either slice or thr whole pie, spam cheese pandesal, scones, muffins, and cookies. I ordered the following: - Egg Cheese Brioche $9 It was buttery, savory and had soft texture. - Blue Corn Banana Teacake $7 It had moist texture with a unique flavor and perfect sweetness. - Cinnamon Popy seed Roll $8 It wad a nice flavor of cinnamon balanced with the richness of poppy seeds. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Remember to try Baking with ish whenever you are in Blossom Market or nearby them

Gosh. I almost had a heartattack when i looked at bakingwithish was empty. I was like no way they closed.. i still smell the goods. And looked around and found that baking with ish moved to a bigger part next to their old one. The good news is they have even more goodies to get.

Located at the entrance of the blossom market hall, this place seems to be asian owned, and sells super delicious pastries. I got the spam cheese pandesal. It was SUPER garlicy and bold on the flavors. I also got their pistsachio and ube pastry. Both were very flavorful. The pies weren't done yet. The ones I saw on IG was a mango pie and dubai chocolate. The ones that were in the oven were all ube type pies. They seem to have seasonal pies on rotation so best to check their IG for the flavors offered. They only sell pastries so be careful not to ask for coffee. That's from next door lol. But the good thing about this location is that you can go right next door while you wait for your pastries to be heated up to order your drink! Enjoy!

"UBE SUNDAY FUNDAYYYY" Hubby & I can never resist trying one or more of their offerings and have come on a couple of Sundays...which is why we've mainly tried their Ube treats! Not sure if it's a standing thing with Baking with Ish, but I noticed it on their menu! The Ube Cheesecake is SO GOOD, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Not too sweet, would order again to bring for a party. I'd skip the Ube Pumpkin (might be seasonal) because the pumpkin overpowered the ube flavor IMO. Their savory scones are decent as well, I can't remember which ones we have tried...but we'll usually grab a coffee at the stand right next to Baking with Ish and then a sweet treat from Bw/Ish. Located inside Blossom Market Hall, plenty of parking available and service is typically very quick.

BAKING WITH ISH is a small bakery stand that offer Filipino-inspired pastries, high-quality ingredients, and generous portions. Customers like myself frequently praise the unique flavors, excellent presentation, and friendly customer service. It is located in SGV plaza on Mission. They have popular items such as ube and ensaymada pastries, and seasonal pies. Moreover, most of their pastry items are pricey which I say suck it up. Perhaps you can indulge it once every couple months. I was taken aback by their pastries prodigious appearance and presentation. Male staff was affable, nice and professional. Overall, I recommend you visit this cute little pastry shop. So there you have it folks.

Came by here early-ish (pun!) on a Sunday morning and most items were already sold out! After trying their pastries, I can see why! The store is clean and well kept, and workers are friendly! I think I also spot Ish talking to some customers as well! The flavors of the pastries were all Ube themed today, and I went ahead with the Gluten Free Ube Banana Tea Cake, which was great for being GF! It was still moist and with a nice banana flavor, but wish the Ube flavor was a tad stronger. It also looks like they might be moving/expanding to the next door stall! Will try to come back again earlier in the day to try more options :)

Turon cheesecake, ube black sesame roll, cookie

Found my filipino dessert cravings satisfied in San Gabriel! Located in the Blossom Market Hall, right by the entrance along Mission Drive, you'll find this popular dessert stand. Came on a Friday about 40 min before closing--sadly all the popular ube desserts were sold out (not to self: come earlier or order online next time!) Tried the Turon Cheesecake (5/5): Fluffy (such perfect texture!), smooth, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced with fresh fruit (banana and jack fruit) and a delicious crust. The Ube Black Sesame Roll (4.5/5) was also amazing. Loved the marshmallow-like foam cream on top! We also grabbed a cookie (forgot the name) that was so chewy (almost mochi-like), sweet/flavorful, and had the perfect crispy edge. Service was wonderful. Ish and his staff were so kind and welcoming. Definitely coming back to try more!

Time and time again, I come to support Ish and get blown away at each pastry or pie I've tried and have yet to try. For example, today, I came in to try an ube pecan pie slice - and boom also landed with a black sesame pumpkin bun and an ube cheese pan de sal. My cravings got the best of me and how I ate the latter two pastries in under three minutes is beyond me. My senses were so strong that I am literally writing this with crumbs around my mouth. The breads were fresh, soft and delicious in every bite. Not too sweet in my opinion and you can really taste all the flavors that are described. The pillowy bite of that pan de sal is replaying in my head and I want ten more. Give him all your money and come support this wonderful exquisite baker. I've tried other things in the past two but needed to highlight this experience while it was clear in my mind. Located in his own space right when you enter the Ramona St entrance at Blossom Market hall- the unmissable Baking with Ish sign will welcome you. You can never go wrong as there is plentiful parking spots and a variety of food, drink and dessert vendors all in one spot. It's quaint enough for a study session and big enough for a bigger group gathering. Something for everyone. Just make sure you're aware of the open hours as he's not there everyday and while you're at it, give him a follow on Instagram @bakingwithish so you can drool over the pictures with me. I am not affiliated with him at all, just truly an avid fan of the craft and just so happy to continue supporting his small business as long as my wallet allows.

Its a small shop on Main in Alhambra and there's a lot in the back as well as street parking. It's a brightly lit, pick up and go type place though there are a couple tables out front. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. I'm glad I tried a new spot but ultimately don't think it was super impressive and found most of their desserts and baked items to be average, or a little less so as for the egg tarts.

It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. Parking has spots designated to the bakery so look out for the signs.

Price ranged from $2.75-$3.75 per bread. Small and cozy interior. Very warm for some reason but we didn't mind since it's winter. It was pretty quiet. I think folks tend to go to bakeries earlier in the day for more selection and fresher bread. They have a good mix of classic and interesting new breads like rose bread (not depicted), but a lot of them were sold out. We ate the bread the next day and it still tasted very fresh. My favorite was the matcha bread with yogurt filling. The taro bun had real bits of taro in the center. Wish there was a little more though. All the breads were good in flavor, not too salty and or sweet. They also have some deals when you buy a certain amount of certain items. Shared parking lot since it's situated in a plaza.

The store is not that big and feels like a small mop and pop type establishment. The staff seem a little new and had a lot of questions for the owner. I think I'll just purchase some small things for now, as it seems there is a limited supply of most pastries.

I loved seeing all the conchas, flan, tres leches cake, bolillos, and other baked goods. Everything tasted fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. I cannot begin to express how pleased I am with my experience here…read more I have called around to numerous bakeries and this was the only one that was within our budget! I think it's ridiculous other stores are charging $125+ for a 6 inch gender reveal cake (no decorations/ no writing). Is it because it's a gender reveal cake with either pink or blue frosting so they have to hike up the ridiculous prices?! Look no further everyone!! Get all your baked goods and beautifully made cakes here! Other places also want a week's notice before pick up. This spot is only 1 day!! I spoke to the owner over the phone and gave him the details of what my vision was for the cake. He made my vision come true, but even better than I thought it would be! And because you order the cake one day ahead, you can taste how moist and fresh the cake actually is! Versus if you were to order a week in advance anywhere else, the cake would be dry and brittle!! I cannot stress enough how happy I am with my experience here. From my inquiry over the phone up until pick up. I am very very pleased and will continue to come to this establishment. They truly deserve all the praise. THANK YOU for an amazing experience that my hubby and I will never forget!

Honestly, whenever I need a Chinese style birthday cake, I always end up coming to Sunny Bakery…read more For me, this is one of the go to spots in the SGV. Their cakes are the classic Chinese bakery style, light sponge cake layered with fruit and whipped cream. They make custom cakes in all different sizes and I think the pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get. Best of all, the cakes are fresh and not overly sweet, which is exactly how I like them. This time I ordered a quarter sheet chocolate cake with chocolate cream. It was really good, rich enough to taste like chocolate but not so sweet that it became overwhelming. Everyone at the party seemed to enjoy it. They also open at 8am which makes pickup convenient if you need a cake for an early event. One little bonus: if you pay cash, there's usually a small discount. Let's just say Uncle Sam might not be getting invited to that party. Overall, a reliable bakery that I've been coming back to for years.
