My bestie and I decided we needed a spa day (especially facials) and we were on the hunt for some place local. It's been years since I had been to Balance Day Spa, but I remembered they offered discounted seasonal special facials on weekdays. They still do! In addition to the facial, I booked a pedicure while my friend got a massage. The other thing I learned from a friend about Balance Day Spa is they now have a sauna/steam room that you can go enjoy for an hour before or after your appointments. I highly recommend taking advantage of these amenities if you have appointments. It really kicked up the value and relaxation. This area was deluxe. You are given a locker to put your belongings as well as a robe and slippers. They have bathrooms and changing areas. The steam room and saunas could benefit from operation instructions, but once we figured it out - boy it felt great. There is also an additional private sitting room with comfy recliners and a faux fireplace. Really gets you in the right head space before appointments. I started with my Classic Pedicure. My technician was nice but pretty quiet. After soaking in the basin, my nail's were trimmed and shaped, followed by cuticle care and callus removal. Followed by a solid foot and leg massage. She wrapped my feet in warm towels which felt great. Then she carefully added the purple polish I selected. It was a really pretty color. They had lots of color options - regular and shellac. Their nail room was on the smaller side, but could accommodate two people at once. You are seated in the traditional upright massage chair you get at most nail salons. But the room is at the front of the building so it gets a lot for street noise. The bright fluorescent lights are on full blast. There are these big front windows and they have no curtains. You feel a bit exposed (especially if you are in your robe) to be honest. Sadly, the relaxing and calming ambiance is currently very lost in this space. I only had a few minutes under the toe dryer before I was called for my facial. I would have preferred to do toes second so I didn't have to worry about potentially smudging them, but that wasn't how it was scheduled. Just had to leave my feet outside of the sheets and keep the toe separators in. The facial room was much more inviting. Nice blue tones and dim lighting. As part of my seasonal facial, I got to pick between two scrub scents. I went for the Harvest Apple variety that smelled amazing. We started with a consultation followed by the usual cleansing, steam, exfoliation, extractions, mask, serums, and moisturizer. The facial was overall very relaxing and my skin felt so much better afterward. The extractions were a bit painful compared to what I am used to. I was legit tearing up. I think she noticed this but didn't say anything and just cut this part short. The esthetician also did a little lip balm type treatment. A nice extra I don't think I've ever had during a facial. But hey lips need love too so I'm down. After she gently recommended a product to help with my dry skin. Checkout was a bit of a mess. My appointments got merged with my friends (as she booked for us both) and the receptionist struggled to separate. Seems they use an outside service for scheduling and it caused some problems. The system wouldn't allow us to pay for both of ours services on one transaction. So had to do multiple. This made checkout take longer than it should and was frustrating. Quick jolt back to reality, when I wanted to stay in my spa la la land! All in all a lot of positives here if you want a some treatments, but a few opportunities for improvement as well. read more

In the new year, my bestie and I are on a quest to find the next best place to get facials in Greensboro. We used to go all the way to Advance to be pampered by the best in the biz, but since her retirement, we've been looking for something a little closer to home. That's where Balance Day Spa hit the scene. They were particularly enticing due to their late hours during the week. After perusing their website, I called to schedule two services for my bestie and me as a belated birthday celebration. A pedicure and a facial for her, and a facial and a massage for me! My bestie and I arrived about 40 minutes prior to the scheduled start of our services. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the amenities, and we were eager to begin enjoying them. Balance Day Spa really brings it when it comes to providing everything you could need. They have lockers for your personal belongings, robes, and sandals in case you didn't bring your own. I appreciated that they use regular keys for their lockers rather than combination locks, which stresses me out. After we changed into our robes, we hit the steam room first. There were no formal instructions on how to use either the steam room or the sauna, but we eventually figured it out. We enjoyed about 15 minutes in both the steam room and the sauna. Then we drank some water and ate some mixed nuts as we waited to be called back for our services. They also offered complimentary coffee and tea. My first service was a facial with Jessica. Before we started, she asked questions about my typical skin-care routine and when I last had a facial. She also asked if I was okay with her performing extractions if needed, and I said yes. Before she started, I had to choose between a harvest apple or an amber scent for my service. I opted for the amber option. The facial was very relaxing with all the typical components of cleansing, exfoliating, applying a face mask, massaging, moisturizing, and applying a lip moisturizer at the end. The extraction process was particularly painful to the point of bringing me to tears. I think a mid-extraction check-in would have been nice, so I could have asked for a brief respite as she wiped away my tears. Alas, beauty is pain, as they say. At the end of the service, she recommended a product she thought could help reduce the redness on my face. She let me take a picture of it, and I appreciated that she wasn't particularly pushy about it. I began my massage service with Stephanie by completing an intake form to disclose any concerns and talk through any problem areas. Although I thought I had completed this in advance, it was only an intake form for the Esthetic service. Looking back at the ample texts I received before arriving, I only received one text with a link to complete an intake form, which could be why this was missed. I wanted a relaxing massage, and Stephanie utilized low to medium pressure to meet my expectations. A massage never feels long enough, but that's how I know it was a good massage. At the time of booking, I didn't realize that Balance Day Spa utilizes a call center to handle its scheduling. This became abundantly clear when it came time for us to check out at the end of our visit. For whatever reason, the way the call center booked the services caused the woman checking us out to run our cards twice, once for each service. This felt clunky and is a valid reason to bring scheduling in-house if it causes this awkwardness to be the last impression you leave on a customer. All in all, I was satisfied with my experience at Balance Day Spa. It felt very corporate, and I hope that the next stop on our facial tour has a more personal touch. read more

I have made it a habit over the years to celebrate special occasions at balance day spa and they've never steered me wrong! They upgraded to a new space some time ago and it's lovely. They have their own parking lot and the space is massive. Their staff has always been super kind and accommodating, and I appreciate that so much. They have two waiting rooms plus a steam room for relaxation. There is also a dark room in the back of the locker room with a fire place and comfy chairs where I love to relax a little after my services. It's the perfect spot to decompress. My services have always been consistently good whether I'm there for a massage, facial, wax, or mani/pedi. It's what's kept me coming back time and time again for birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, and any special occasion in between. The only qualm I have with them is that they can never seem to locate my account when purchasing a gift card or when I have a gift card loaded. We always work it out but it's just a major pain when trying to book or pay for services. But the staff and services are what keep me coming back for more! read more

This was my first trip to Balance Day spa I received a sensitive skin facial from Jordyn and it was wonderful. She did wonders for my skin. I love this place. They have a steam room, a sauna and all kinds of massages, pedicures, manicures, facials and anything that you could possibly want in that area. I didn't take any pictures because there were people in the certain areas that I was in and I did not want to do that but next time I will if I can get into an empty room But this place is great. This review is for the deep tissue extended massage, and the pain management extended. I had a deep tissue extended massage on Friday, and it has provided me more release of tension and pain relief than everything else I've tried over the past couple of years. My husband had the pain management extended massage and really enjoyed it. He liked the heat and the stretching. I also used the sauna afterwards and enjoyed it. We will definitely return for other massages in the future (even if we can't do extended ones often). read more

We came to treat my daughter who came from California to get married. My other daughters came and we all got massages. My youngest daughter got a mani/pedi because she was too young to get a massage. Really disappointed with how this spa handled our bachelorette party plans. I was originally told June 22 was available, and that I needed to confirm our services by mid-April to secure the date. So I emailed the group right away to get everyone's choices and called the spa when they told me to, so they could schedule the massage therapists. When I called, everything changed. I was told they only had one massage therapist and that they normally ask for three potential dates--something I was never told. I explained this was for a bachelorette, still two months out, and asked if there was a way to make it work. Instead, I just got a call saying they can't do our party anymore unless we switch to facials. They've completely derailed what was supposed to be a relaxing and special day for the bride. Planning these events is already enough work--this added stress and last-minute shift was the last thing we needed. I wouldn't trust them for group bookings again. read more

I made the appointment and requested any female. I was blessed with getting a massage by Vanessa. She is AMAZING!!! She asked about any areas to focus on today and actually listens; that's not Shay's the case in other places. The soreness I had in my lower back is completely gone!!!. I requested medium pressure and it was perfect! Enough to get some of thee knots out, but still light enough to relaxes it's the worse thing to get a massage for relaxation and go home sore. Had 80 minute facial and it was wonderful! Arrived early and sat in the steam room off the ladies lounge for a bit prior to being taken back for my appointment. After being turned into a delightful ball of relaxation with the facial treatment, I returned to the ladies lounge and sat by the elegant electric fireplace snuggled in a warm fuzzy blanket as I slowly came back to reality. My masseuse was good but I did not get my full hour. Started at 10 mins after the hour and finished 5 til. Thats 45 mins. I came with others. One person said the facial was very good. The person getting nails done waited 25 mins past the appointment time. Balance folks, there is no way to send you this privately through your website, sorry. In my opinion, you had a real opportunity to blow us away and you missed. Well intended but not well executed. I filled out a brochure to customize my massage experience. It was ignored. I have a long history with skin care and massage. My ex-wife Susan has been in the business for over 45 years and still owns Bella Mia out in Clemmons. I'll never forget when we got married in New Jersey and decided to open up a skin care and services salon in the new Secaucus mall. Mind you this was with two small children back in the '80s. Susan had to choose everything from color of chairs to price for a manicure. When that place opened, it exploded! All the New Jersey women fell in love with this beautiful and charming Southern gal who was knowledgeable and gentle and you knew you could trust her. The store was incredibly successful and by association I learned a lot about facials and massage and aromatherapy and color analysis. Susan had the brilliant idea that I would offer color analysis as well. I tried it a couple of times and I was an absolute disaster. We sold the store after we moved back to North Carolina but it was an experience we will never forget and i Natural served us well! The other thing that comes to my mind was when I was in Thailand. You know how in Greensboro every corner has a church and a Starbucks? In Thailand every corner had a massage being offered. Single massage, group massage, foot massage, head massage. You name it, it was being offered and what was even more amazing was that it was so damn cheap. I could get a full body massage for an hour for $5. Can you believe it? When I used to give the massage therapist a $5 tip I thought they were going to have a heart attack! I remember my last day in Bangkok I had several hours to kill before I headed to the airport. I went to a local salon and got a foot massage, aromatherapy, full body massage, facial, sauna and meal for $25!! I don't think there was a single day in Thailand that I did not get a massage of some form or fashion. When I returned from 5 days of trekking in the hills of Chiang Mai, the most amazing massage I ever got was sitting in a chair by the park and this elderly woman giving me a leg and foot massage for a half hour for $3. I was hoping it would never end! Well Balance Day Spa did not offer me all of that for $3 but I do have to say my two experiences there so far have been very positive and worth the price in the reality of 2021. I bought myself a Mother's Day package (don't laugh) that included a facial and massage. I was pumped! I had not had a facial in years. I was kind of surprised that the day before my appointment I got a call from the staff there telling me that they had to cancel the package I bought because the massage therapist I had the appointment with had left his position at the spa. Later on that day I suddenly realized, "Well, that doesn't mean I can't have a massage with a different therapist" or "Why did they not at least let me keep the appointment for the facial?" I thought that was a blunder on their part. When I called back they totally agreed and I kept my facial with Sarah. It was relaxing, professional and it felt so good to have my face clean and fresh. Sarah was thorough and knew what she was doing. I will definitely ask for her again on my next visit. I had my massage last week with Hector. He also did a great job. It included an aromatherapy element and Hector recommended eucalyptus which I really enjoyed. For some reason in the last few years I have gotten really claustrophobic using that face cradle and I appreciated that Hector was very accommodating and made the massage enjoyable without me having to stick my face in that. I will have to say that I felt sorry for both Sarah and Hector in that they had to wear their mask the entire time they were servicing me. I look forward to the day when they can be free and be able to work without a piece of cloth across their face but I was thrilled to have gotten to a place in the world where I can actually feel comfortable again laying on the table and receiving a facial and massage. Balance Day Spa is conveniently located on Battleground Avenue and looks brand spanking new to me. Plenty of parking in front and a nice lobby of products if that's your thing. Sometimes people have asked me, "If money was no object, what would you like in your life that you don't have now?" I would have to say one of my answers is that at the end of each day before bed I would have my own personal massage therapist. After being worked on for an hour I would love to just crawl into my bed and go to sleep. That's what I call rich! In the meantime, I would highly recommend you trying Balance Day Spa if you are wanting to treat yourself to a little pampering. I used to really enjoy going to Balance Day Spa for a few years. Recently, the Spa changed something, I'm thinking managers or management. The front door girls are not professional, they look very unprofessional and aren't trained properly. They have attitude when they speak to clients, not just to me- I've experienced that on more than one occasion. I might be old fashioned, the dresses are club dresses which I feel are not appropriate in my opinion. They are changing membership without letting us know in advance????? This was my second visit to Balance Day Spa as part of a 'Blissful Relaxation Package' (massage, facial, pedicure, manicure) gift certificate I received from my husband as a Christmas gift. He purchased it believing it would be a relaxing way for me to spend an afternoon. Upon calling to schedule this package, I was told each piece of the package would need to be scheduled on separate days as they could not accommodate all four services in succession on the same day. I had to schedule my facial and massage two weeks apart. After my first visit for the facial I personally tipped the aesthetician as she led me back to the changing room and as I was leaving the building the receptionist asked if I would like to leave a gratuity to which I responded I already paid. I had my second appointment yesterday for my massage and, again, personally tipped the massage therapist. I left the building and began my drive home when approximately five minutes later I received a call from the receptionist asking if I would like to leave a gratuity for the massage and I responded I already had. I find this to be very inappropriate to be asked for a tip and, actually, quite tacky for this establishment. I really do not want to return for the two remaining services if I'm always going to be asked for a gratuity. I do want to add to this review the aesthetician (Kristen) and massage therapist (Laura) were excellent and very knowledgeable. But, requesting a tip is rude! read more

BEWARE of this business. My wife recently had a massage and the business refused to accept a $100 gift card that had been purchase by my mother as a Christmas present. My wife showed the manager that the gift card had a $100 balance and the receipt that indicated that gift cards do not expire. The manager refused to accept the gift card stating that it had expired. Balance Day Spa's website indicates that gift cards do not have expiration dates. Instead of a relaxing experience at a spa, she had a very unpleasant experience. Went for chip free mani and pedi. The nail tech had to do a "soak off" to remove my SNS color. Not even a full day later, my fingernail polish was chipping. My NAILS were chipping, peeling and pathetically thin. This is a total difference from my natural nails. No doubt at all the soak in acetone ruined my fingernails. Acetone can be bad for your fingernails Here are some reasons why: * A continuous soak in acetone during a nail lacquer bath can severely harm your nails " * Acetone significantly dries out the nail, leading to brittleness, splitting, peeling and breakage. No, I do not want to come back for a "repair". In fact, I will never walk through their door again. It will take months for my nails to heal. read more

This was my first time getting a massage here and I must say I really enjoyed the experience. I've had massages from Groupon and they were more compression based and partly was due to my own comfort level. As I did my research I felt that something more of a spa facility was what I needed. I purchased a 80 minute massage ($120) with Eric who was so great. Any questions or apprehensions I had he accommodated and made me feel so relaxed. He did such as awesome job and the lavender oil was divine. Upon driving up to the location I was expecting to see a sign on the building but it was off to the side. When you walk up you then realize as you see a light that you're in the right place. The staff was very welcoming and explained everything to me and what was all available to me. The dressing room included lockers with individual keys, sauna, steam room, 2 showers, a changing room, bathroom and tranquility room for sitting (all of which I could use). You get your own robe and slippers and you wait for your massage therapist in the waiting room. Might I add it's cool if you get there a little early as the waiting room has tea you can make, water, and trail mix.
