Located in the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, you'll find Balanced Rock at the second pull-out along the North Rim Drive. Quick little walk from the car to the overlook, and you'll easily be able to see one giant rock balanced on the canyon. It's a nice view, and you'll also get to see more of the canyon. There are five stops on the North Rim Drive, and while it's still beautiful, it was my least favorite of the five stops. So if you are running short of time, this is one I would consider cutting. Road is unpaved, North Rim is highly underdeveloped, and there is no cell reception - so just be aware before you drive out to Balanced Rock. read more
