My son loves coming here and checking out books. There are DVDs and CDs for personal use. There is an activity room in the basement where they have educational classes as well as classes for children. With your library membership you can get a guest pass to the Cradle of Aviation museum, the Intrepid, Nassau County Museum of Art & Old Westbury Gardens. We have taken advantage of this benefit and have thoroughly enjoyed every experience.

I was contacted by the Freeport Memorial Library to participate in National Author's Day. Since I…read moream an inspirational author of course I accepted. Upon arriving there was amble parking behind the library. I then proceeded to enter the lobby and the circulation desk. Everything seemed up to date and everyone was very efficient. I told the receptionist I was there for the Author event and she contacted Maryellen and she told me to go upstairs the event room. There 6 tables set up, a stage with a big screen monitor, computer at the podium and a microphone. Chairs were setup for the audience. There were six authors in all and we each had an opportunity to speak about our books. The event was well organized and well attended and I was able to meet the other authors and some members of the audience. This library always has something going on. The community is fortunate to have such a library in the area. At some point I would like to return to speak more about my work. Thanks to Maryellen for all ran smoothly.

There are a lot of programs for guests of all ages, and there is a theater, game room for teens, a kids section, and an outdoor section. My only complaint would be that there are not many computers there, and that the game room exclusive computers do not let you download games. Overall, this library is very nice and I would recommend visiting it.

The negative is that the play area for toddlers is not self contained , so our toddler of course wanted to walk around the corridor and go out. There are some libraries that have a closed play areas,making it much easier to navigate. Plainview and Syosset libraries are just two that have a closed area, which is easier. The librarians at the north merrick library were very nice and helpful

All for fracquets, the Town of Hempstead libraries share benefits. I go to East Meadow library every month for a lecture on gardening. I try to go to all the cooking classes at North Merrick Library. Some you watch and some you make along with the host. You always get samples! If you think your library only offers books, you're so wrong. Support your libraries!
