I love to be able to go here for a walk and then a pint and a little bit of food. The staff are always great, warm friendly and helpful and the food in terms of the offerings and range and the quality are all excellent. Great food, great people, great ambiance and great views.

Extremely disappointing service…read more We visited The Dirty Duck and spent nearly $60 USD on our meal. I ordered the fish and chips and, when I was finished eating, I specifically asked for the remainder of my food to be taken away and boxed up so I could bring it home. After we received and paid our bill, I sat waiting for my leftovers to be returned. They never came. We eventually asked our server, Matthew, where my food was, and he told me it had been thrown away because I had supposedly told him to throw it away. I absolutely did not. I had specifically asked for it to be boxed up. Mistakes happen, and although I was understandably frustrated that food I had paid for was thrown away, what happened next is what completely changed my opinion of the experience. When I expressed my frustration, Matthew told me to "get over myself." I was genuinely stunned. There is a huge difference between making an honest mistake and speaking disrespectfully to a paying customer after that mistake is brought to your attention. An apology or even a simple attempt to make the situation right would have gone a long way. Instead, I was spoken to dismissively and made to feel as though I was the problem for questioning why my food had been thrown away. We are visiting from the United States, and I was excited to experience local places while here. Unfortunately, this interaction left an awful impression. I hope the owner or management sees this review because regardless of the misunderstanding over the food, telling a customer to "get over yourself" is completely inappropriate and unacceptable customer service. The Dirty Duck may be a beautiful and popular place, but our experience with the service was incredibly disappointing.

This Farmhouse has two farmhouse Restaurants which is open Tuesday -Saturday, from 6.30pm onwards . closed sunday and Monday. It serves gorgouse home made, , traditional fresh seasonal produce. It does not have a drinks Licence so its a bring your own bottle, with no corkage charges. The restaurants have been running for more than 35 years, one seats 25 ppl, and the other 40 ppl. Dinner costs £26. for a spectacular 4 course dinner, with coffee and petit fours afterwards. Please see below Sept menu taken from their website. The portion sizes are very big to say the least, as well as mouth wattering tasty. The desert table is Heaven for sweet Lovers like myself, there is usually at least 6 different deserts, which you just go and help yourself as often as you like, all home made, same as everything else. They also do Bed & Breakfast. This Farmhouse is very popular, and we would recommend booking in advance, as its always busy. Its set in the Ayrshire countryside, and has ample parking outside the farmhouse. The staff are all lovely and once you arrive, you are shown in to a lovely living room to look at the menus and decide what you are going for, before being taken through to one of the two restaurants. The owner/cook always comes and speaks to her guests before they all leave. This place is a treat to come to all year thru, but its especially beautiful at the Festive season. Go give it a try, we can promise it will be a first of many visits there on after.
