It really was just the first floor of almost a hut of a house, the floor wasn't cemented yet, absolutely nothing fancy schmancy, and I remember the live music and band being amazing even back then. Fast forward three decades later and I still find myself jammin' it up in here. They have made many improvements in comparison to the first time I came here. I mean, come on, now, the floors are now cemented (not like I cared back then), they have more tables and chairs, and the various historical decorations and artifacts they have displayed truly give this place its own unique character. But other than the food and drinks they have available, it's the live music coming off them performers that take the experience over the top. The food is a bit above par, the drinks are the same. The service has never faltered - they were always welcoming. Combine that with the talent on stage and the whole event is nothing short of WOW. But don't take my word for it. Plenty of parking spaces available. On a hot day, their security guard would even come to you with an umbrella and will walk you with it all the way to the door. The entire restaurant sits on stilts above a fishpond. It has a very rustic look and feel. We were seated immediately and our spot overlooked the entire pond. Party of 6. There were so many things I wanted to try. Patriarch went ahead and put an order of dishes he recommended and told us to add on whatever else we wanted to try. That we did. Patriarch's favorite is their own version of pinakbet. I understand why - this might have been the best one I've had compared to all the restaurants I've been to around this area. The vegetables were fresh - like they just plucked 'em out seconds before throwing them into the pot fresh - and so full of flavor. The meat was tender. The seasoning was perfect. Would recommend this all day. Crispy fried shrimp was what it was; lightly seasoned and fried crispy. Nephew and I popped one after another and couldn't stop... we even debated about taking an order to-go to snack later during the day! I haven't seen crispy kangkong on a menu since probably the last time I visited the homeland. It was a repeat must have. The leaves were dipped and fried in thin batter. How they managed to crisp the leaves are beyond me, but no matter: they were light and delicious. The crispy dinuguan got me curious since I'm more used to the regular version. It's basic, really - they fry the meat and later on slater the dinuguan sauce after. The only reason it stood out is because of the "crispy" part of it. Otherwise, it's just like regular dinuguan. The sinigang was a great palate cleanser. Good amount of tang, plenty of seafood to share with our party. The calamari was nothing out of the ordinary. Good crispy outside, nice chew inside. Pretty average. The bangus sisig was my favorite. I've had my share but this one is a little better than the rest. It might just be the way they seasoned it, but there was something different about it. Nephews said this is their favorite here so they never fail to order it whenever they visit. I understand. Service was mediocre. What made the experience even better was the warm breeze that came through the whole time we were there. It was so relaxing! Now THAT I really liked. 3.5 - 3.75 for now. At nearly 5000 feet elevation, Baguio is still pretty hot on a sunny day. So it was today, a Sunday…read morenonetheless, with so many folks making the ride or drive up to get away from the real heat in Manila. When I saw that Baguio had a brewery, I made sure that it was on my itinerary. Make sure that you go to the top floor, 2 flights of stairs. The restrooms are on the second floor. They have quite the beer selection, from IPAs, ales, fruit beers (think sours) to stouts. Their grub is pretty local. I, of course, went way off and ordered the half serving of the fish and chips. Don't expect cod. It's a local fish in a really light batter. I think it was reasonable. My half serving was more than enough to supplement my 2 pints. The vinegar dip was very good. Just a PSA, there is nothing for the vegetarians or vegans, except the usual fries. As for the beers, I started with the raspberry stout, which was very smooth with slight raspberry overtones. Very nice. I tasted the porter and thought it was good, but after the stout, it tasted a bit off. They were also on the lighter side, if you're used to the stuff in the US. BTW the stout is 9.75% ABV, the porter 6.46%. For the tropical environs, perhaps I should have had the pilsner, but these two hit the spot for me. 4 stars in comparison to US breweries, but heck how many breweries are there outside Manila? Highly recommended!

What a great selection: white rice, fried rice, sunny side up, scrambled eggs, corned beef, ham, two different kinds of tocino, fried fish, calamari, pansit, champurado, tortang talong, and I'm sure I missed some other dish(es.) Also comes with choice of drink - coffee, soda, hot/cold tea, etc... All that for the bargain price of 145PHP. (That's less than 3$US!) And don't let the price fool you - the quality of the food was worth way more than what they're charging. The staff were quick to replenish when any of the dishes ran out. They were also very attentive, making sure our glasses were filled with whatever drinks we had. The ONLY downside to it?! The location. It's on a main street where busses and jeepneys and cars go through. It wouldn't be an issue if the place was enclosed, but the only thing separating us diners from the whiff of traffic going by was a thin net-like window covering.
