It's a very nice visitors centre, providing lots of information. A shop, a restaurant, public toilets. Dogs welcome as well. There are some nice picnic tables outside, with breathtaking views over the Glen. We enjoyed our lunch there. What a location! Then there's the Turf House on site as well. Also several trails and paths to enjoy a little walk around the area. A really nice stop, worth spending some time here.

If you are a fan of James Bond this is where he stopped his DB5 in Skyfall. There's some iconic stops at Glencoe and I think once I found the name out I felt like drinking scotch while listening to The Cure and Morrisey. The Visitors Centre has a huge parking lot and a cafe and coffee. There aren't a lot of food options so you may be forced to eat here, it's OK and not stunning. Kids got a hotdog and I liked how all the topping were separate, chips were OK with it. Another good reason to stop here are the public bathrooms. Outside they have a recreation of a traditional house built by locals. I loved this so much and maybe i was in a drinking mood but I could imagine sitting in one of those in a cold and rainy day and enjoying a heavy single malt scotch. There are also some small streams and water the kids liked throwing rocks into.

There you can find a cute little shop called Haggard Alley for all things Harry Potter. There's plenty of info out there on how to book, routes, etc, so I won't go into that here. Tips I'll share: 1) book early - don't even think about trying to arrange this the night before. 2) don't do first class - while it's more comfy and usually our type of travel, we booked on one of the cars toward the back. That way you can see and video/snap pics of the front of the train as it goes over the viaduct. Makes you think lightening struck your forehead. 3) sit on the left side - if you're in the car facing to the front of the train, make sure your seat is on the left side. A much better view of the train going over the viaduct. 4) drink a beer or wine - even if it's 9:30 in the morning, which it was for us, have a brewskie...you're on vacation. 5) eat fast in Mallaig - don't spend a lot of time choosing restaurants. Pick a place the night before. When you arrive at Mallaig, run your happy bum to the restaurant you chose, order (and don't even try to get starters first then mains) and eat. You can take pics afterwards. Restaurants there are small, get slammed with each Twain's arrival, plus the local tourists who come by car. Hope this helps!

The safe was triggered open and could not be used. In order to use the suitcase caddy, we had to put it in front of the room door. Only place that it would fit. When we brought the issue up to management, their answer was "It is an old hotel and the rooms are assigned at the time of booking and it is the luck of the draw. REALLY!!!! The larger room had 3 large windows whereas the smaller room had a single 14" window. Be careful when booking this hotel. Lots of stairs and the room is "The luck of the draw!"

When speaking with the staff, they shared their frustration with not being able to give good service due to being understaffed. The hotel manager was serving?! Again, not many choices in the area so you are kind of forced to eat/stay there. Overall we were happy with our stay.

The centre was easy enough to access but I could see it being a bit problematic in terms of space at the height of the summer just because of the size of it. It was clean and tidy so quite a nice tourist information centre really.

I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a lovely old building, situated in the clock tower in a very prominent position on the seafront. Internally it's 'bijou', but there is lots and lots of information available on all manner of activities and places both locally and in Scotland as a whole. I came away with a few leaflets having had a good chinwag with the lady there, who obviously had good local knowledge and appeared to be keen to help. Not just for tourists, this place is well worth a visit even if just to see what you're missing!

We got a taxi there from the bus station, because it was raining, but it is easily walkable. Taxi fare was £6 or £7. The holiday park has caravans and cabins in situ and there is ample space for camping at the bottom of the site, near the river which sounds lovely as you lie in your sleeping bag. The campsite has free hot showers and they are very nice. This place is really clean and looked after really well by the lovely people who run it. They were incredibly helpful to me. It's not far away from The Great Glen Way either, if that's what you are doing here. Neptune's Staircase is 30 mins walk from the campsite along the road. Camping was £7 per night. There is a drying room, meaning you need money to put in the dryer.
