These days, even since the bypass was built, this doesn't really happen anymore, but it is still pretty impressive. In fact the way they set it up is really cool. As you drive into Ballarat from Adelaide you hit the Avenue of Honour, which has a tree for every resident of Ballarat who died in the Great War. Then as you approach the town, you come upon this awesome arch which stretches across the road. There are also some memorial gardens nearby, as well as a shrine. Honestly, it is pretty impressive, and certainly stands the test of time.
