It reminded me of the famed Opera House in Australia, except that this one is at a crossroad, not near any sort of water body, and much closer to home in US !  Kansas , Missouri has been historically known for its jazz, classical music and theatre. It has this typical theatrical staging for an auditorium with all the seats facing the same way towards the stage, which is framed by an arch- this setting also has a fancy name - its called  Proscenium Arch ( pruh-see-ni-um - I had to ask google how to pronounce it ...lol)It is a non-profit theatre !!!!  Wow! Built to promote dance, opera, music , it is perfect for the city to live up to its reputation of being widely recognized destination for vibrant and colorful arts. It has two big halls interconnected with a foyer, its simply impressively massive and absolutely stunning architecture.  I read from the brochure that Acoustical considerations factored into every architectural decision of the building, right from the shape of the hall to the grain of the wood paneling. And also that it seats 1600 guests at a time. Located at the heart of downtown Kansas on 16th and Broadway, it is near the  city's Power & Light District, the T-Mobile Center and the Crossroads Arts District with plenty of parking within, but if you don't want to get stuck after a performance, it is better to take a cab here.

We recently started my daughter in one of the classes here. It's a pretty big school. They…read moreoccupy one whole side of a building. They span over about 6 spaces in the center on that one side. The staff and volunteers are so nice. My daughter enjoys her instructor, Ms Missy. They prorate your tuition if you get in after they've begun. You can even try a class to see if you like it before you enroll. They discourage parents hanging around and potentially distracting the class (with younger kids) but our night class has been great thus far. Since it's dark out, the kids can't really see the parents outside. They start my daughter's class off with tap shoes and then change over to ballet on the latter part of the class. Price is about par with other places around town but we chose it based on longevity and experience.

I recently saw an ad for the upcoming performance of Don Quixote and purchased two tickets for $235.00. These were in an upper level of the theater, not front row center of the Orchestra section. When I received the tickets, I was shocked to see the face value of the tickets as $25.00 each. Not only did I pay $185.00 more, getting the tickets from this third party person was a complicated process. My advice would be to only buy tickets directly from the ballet company. Also, I think the practice of selling tickets to people who will resell them at way more than face value should be stopped. I would liken this to scalping, which I thought was illegal. M. I'm not a mom who is looking to get her kid into hard-core, serious, competitive dance (although they have the trophies to back that up, if that is what you're looking for). I'm just a mom who wanted a social environment for her toddler who loves music, and loves dancing around the house. We did the little 6-week summer classes, and we loved it. We do not have a lot of disposable income. At all. So anything I sign my kid up for, I have to really consider. There's a lot of things we can't afford, but re-enrolling for fall classes wasn't even a question. It may sound silly to say after just 6 classes, but this place already feels like home. Warm and inviting doesn't even begin to cover it. My daughter loves it. I love it. I had no idea I'd have such strong feelings about a dance company after 6 weeks, but here we are.
