I have never had such a bad experience getting balloons for a party. I had priced 40 balloons to add to centerpieces for my daughter's bridal shower last week. It was a very simple order and I was given a price of $2 per balloon , which equals $80 with a $25 delivery fee. I called back and asked Robert to tie them in 8 bunches of five balloons to make it easier for us and they changed the price drastically and overcharged me $25 for each bunch of 5 balloons plus a delivery fee of $35. It came out to over $250 with tax. I didn't have much choice because I was pressed for time so I accepted the price reluctantly. they were supposed to be delivered to the restaurant which is only a few miles away from their office at 11 am. On the day of the party, it was 1130 am and the balloons still had not been delivered, and I hadn't received any phone call explaining the delay. I called the office and was told they needed to get a driver and would be there in a half hour with no other explanation. My guests were to arrive at 12 PM and this was not acceptable. They arrived at around 12 PM when my guests were arriving as well, which caused some embarrassing confusion as people were walking in the door as we were scampering to put the balloons on the tables. As we were doing this, Robert actually had the audacity to take some of the balloon weights which I had already paid for after we tied them to our centerpieces when I wasn't watching. I've never seen such dishonesty and poor customer service, overcharging and taking advantage of a situation with something that should be relatively simple and fun. Do not use this company. The store is ok, not great. Store is overflowing with choices for balloons. You'd think this would be good but there are racks everywhere, up to the ceiling and not too well organized. We bought balloons for my son's birthday in mid-March. The woman who helped me asked if I needed the balloons to last one. day or two - I said "til tomorrow." The woman who treated our 9 balloons knew what she was doing, and let me tell you- those balloons lasted us MORE THAN 2 weeks!!! I just called this guy to get an idea about options and pricing. I understand it's difficult to price a job without knowing the details. I was only looking for a ball park number or range. He barely let me speak. He kept repeating "I needed to come down to the store." He was very rude and had no personality. Why on earth would I consider using him after getting the brush off over the phone? I could only imagine the terrible service he would provide. Although I have spent my whole life in this area, I never realized balloon world existed. I was so used to going to the chain store for balloons and having to deal with poor customer service. This past week, after trying to reach the chain store on the phone for over half hour to place a balloon order, a quick google search led me to balloon world. I called them up and decided to head over to place an order for the next day. Boy, am I glad I did. It was a bit overwhelming when I walked in, as there are SO many choices, but once I asked Robert (the owner I think) for some direction and explained what I was looking for, he took over and put together a beautiful assortment of balloons. The lovely ladies working there were so sweet and helpful as well. When I picked them up the next day, my order was ready at the time requested and they even helped me put my balloons in the car. Disgusting experience!!!!! Due to school being closed our 5th graders at our elementary are not getting the send off they imagined this year. We ordered a balloon arch and the it was completely wrong. The balloon colors did not match what we ordered. I had a TERRIBLE experience at Balloon World. A balloon arch was ordered with specific colors picked out of a book for graduation at my daughter's school.The balloon arch was put up with the wrong colors. When I called to ask them to fix the mistake , the person I spoke to (I'm assuming it was the owner) was EXTREMELY rude. He said "listen lady, do you know what's going on in the world right now? And all you are worried about is the color of your balloons?" He said he didn't have the color I ordered so he put up whatever he had. I told him he should have called me and asked if I wanted a different color or a refund since he didn't have what I ordered. He said I had to just deal with it and he had to go take other calls because he needs to make money. He hung up on me and blocked my number because I was not able to call back. He charged us $400 for something that looked like it came out of the dollar store. The staff (Rob in particular) were super helpful with all of my requests. I got a large variety of balloons, they were of excellent quality, lasted about 2 weeks on my ceiling! I will NEVER step foot in this store again! It's nothing but a fire trap with a nasty man running it! He was so rude to me when I went with my daughter to shop for her Bat Mitzvah. My daughter was devastated by his behavior and quite frankly, so was I! He first told us he was busy so we could only look. Then when one of the associates was helping us he rudely interrupted and said she couldn't help us without collecting a $250 consultation fee! When I told him that I had purchased before (he was nasty in Mamaroneck as well) he said that's nice but without the fee you cannot have information. The 3 nice workers were shocked! Their mouths were literally hung open shock! He doesn't belong in Larchmont or in business at all! I will put my balloon budget towards beautiful flowers instead! I am always offered options to choose from and staff is friendly and wanting to help - at the same time merchandise is so affordable - makes a terrific gift and because the balloons are so unique (compared to other local stores selling balloons) my gift is so very enjoyed by anyone that I have given them to. From the outside, the store doesn't look like much but they have a wonderful supply of balloons with the best knowledge and staff. I needed to celebrate 2 different occasions during the pandemic. We discussed over the phone, they made recommendations so the balloons would last longer & be more manageable. They said the balloons would last 3 days - they still look good after a week! I have never used this business before and thought especially now during Covid it would be nice to support a small local business instead of Party City. I called to place a small order for a balloon bouquet for a child's birthday. After I placed my order, the owner asked for a credit card. I gave it to him and then he immediately said "Okay, bye" and I said "Wait, I have more questions." Then he said "I have another call" and slammed the phone down on me. I tried calling back and it seems to be his cell and he wouldn't answer my call. Finally he answered and I told him to please cancel my order that after I gave my credit card I told him I had more questions, he hung up and it was not kind of him and I would just like to cancel. He responded by screaming, "Don't ever call me again!" Well, obviously I won't be calling again. There are plenty of other places to get balloons. So I ordered online for curbside pick up from Party City, got to pick the exact balloons I will be getting and didn't have to deal with an angry old man who doesn't appreciate his customers. read more

I wish there was a zero star option. I placed an order for balloons for an event at my office. The event started at 10am. I ordered the balloons for a 9am pick up. the order was placed and paid for DAYS PRIOR. The proprietor (some obnoxious man in his 60s) arrives at 9:15 to open the store, announces to me "yeah yeah I know I'm late I don't want to hear about it". Things went down hill from there. The balloons were of course not ready, he said 'I'll do your balloons now it will be about 20 minutes". I asked him to hurry to which he replied "please please keep wasting my time, that will help" he then waived me out of the store like you would shoo away a cat. I walked out of the store stunned and he went and locked the door behind me!!! the whole experience was completely shocking and appalling. Avoid at all costs. If I could give zero Stars I would! We went there to inquire about the cost of 36 latex balloons and the cashier told us it would be $2 a balloon. We also asked if they could separate them on 6 bundles because we were using them as a wedding decoration. The owner stepped in at that point, he said to us oh no the cashier was giving us the wrong information and each bundle will cost $30. So price went up from $72 to $180 because we used the word WEDDING. When I questioned the owner he said to me "let me ask you something, you are using them for a wedding so can't afford to pay another $100" I was stunned that this would be his reply and for him to feel that he had a right to more than double the price because we used the word WEDDING. I will never use this company nor would I ever recommend them to anyone unless you want to be treated horribly, particularly if you have children with you. Ordered over $200 worth of balloons for my son's first birthday party. They were supposed to be delivered at 1p on the day of the party. They never showed. Called at 1:30 to check on the status of the delivery and they didn't have an answer. They said they would call me back and they never did. I have shopped at Balloon World a couple of times for various birthdays. I was a little worried after reading the not-so-great reviews of the prior location, but have had nothing short of pleasant experiences everytime I have come to the Larchmont store. The selection is fantastic, to the point of being overwhleming. The service is great too--the ladies behind the counter always search far and wide for me (I wanted a specific Simpsons balloon and they scoured the store). I popped a few balloons getting them in the car and they happily replaced them for free even though it was 100% my fault. I have met the owner a few times too, who has been nothing but gracious. Yes, their prices are a bit higher than Party City, but I find the service at Party City (namely the New Rochelle one) to be comically bad (Bueller? Bueller?) and I want this small, local business to succeed...because it deserves to. I will continue to shop here for all of my balloon needs :) read more
