Poor communication…read more Mark came out and quoted a project for $17k on a remodel of our only small bathroom that was broke (and needed a remodel anyway). I had remodeled the bathroom at our previous house, so I have a good handle on what is involved, but we were too busy to take it on ourselves. I solicited 5 or 6 bids and Mark's seemed the most professional but also the highest cost. I highlighted that this was our ONLY bathroom and speed was the utmost priority and that ideally I would like the project done in like weeks not months. Mark didn't express much concern over timeline. Now there were some materials shortages, and COVID and whatever, but it was just excuse after excuse, with sometimes no one showing up for a month at a time. And the strong impression was this project just wasn't organized or a priority. They didn't start for over 5 weeks, and when called on it, I was told that the timeline we discussed was for starting the project, not finishing it. I wish I had recorded our initial conversation, because it seemed he took crummy notes and then later reinterpreted them to suit his needs. Nearly 2 months into the project he expressed surprise this was our only bathroom and sort of sheepishly asked what we had been doing in the meantime (going to neighbors houses we are friends with). How that CORE piece of information I had stressed repeatedly during our first few meetings had slipped his mind, I have no idea. He the said he would hurry to finish. Then no one showed up for 3 straight weeks. We nearly fired him about three different times, including in mid JAN promising to have the shower done by Valentine's day (we hired him first week of OCT). Needless to say that deadline was totally missed by a month or more. Moreover key elements discussed during the planning stage were simply forgotten by him (tile wainscoting), and then when asked about them several months in he had to scramble. Early on in late OCT he had stressed the need for us to drop everything and go pick out tile so he could order it and have it there by mid NOV. Then MONTHS later when he was actually ready to install the tile (JAN), the project again had to go on hold because he had not ordered it yet... This is despite repeatedly asking him if he needed us to order tile, or front cash for materials to speed things along (not sure if he was having cashflow issues or what). Anyway, once the project was 95% done, they just had to install a glass divider (another element he had forgotten about). So that was another several weeks, then when they came to install it, they had cut it for the wrong side of the room, the side away from the shower...so more weeks to completion. By this point I couldn't even talk to him because I was so angry, but firing him when we were 98% seemed pointless. Anyway, I left it in my wife's hands, who he then took advantage of. Telling her he was giving us a "$1000 discount" for all the hassle, while charging her $300 more than the estimate and payment plan we had agreed on. This is despite us generally picking cheaper materials than were in his estimate and giving him wide latitude on specific choice just to try and speed things along. Hiring Mark was one of the 3-5 biggest mistakes I have made in my entire life. Worse than some car accidents I got into in my teens or that time I bought a super expensive bike right before we had a kid and I mostly stopped biking. The stress related to this has probably literally taken 6 months off of my life expectancy. I am serious.

Terrible service and no communication! It took 2 1/2 months to get carpet installed…read more We chose floor center due to the fact that they had the carpet in stock that we wanted. When we purchased our home we had to get the carpet replaced before we could move in to the upper level, we were told that since the carpet was in stock that they could install the same week. So we paid for the carpet and waited. And waited. And waited. For nearly 3 weeks we slept on couches in our living room. We paid for removal of the carpet but they left the staples in the floor and carpet around the radiators. When asked if that was standard procedure they said that sometimes if there are too many staples they leave them in but stated "you will barely even feel them through the carpet pad" For six thousand dollars i would expect no not feel any staples. The list goes on and on the issues we had. Their competition up the street said that absolutely the removal should have included pull the staples. Once they received our money there was no communication. Numerous times I asked for a follow up call which never happened. Between my wife and I, we ended up having to take 7 days off of work to get carpet installed. On multiple occasions the installers showed up without any knowledge of where the carpet was being installed (upstairs) so were unable to install due to the fact that they could not get the carpet up the stairs by themselves. Spend your money elsewhere, this place is a joke. If you value your time (and vacation hours) stay clear of the Floor Center.

The finished had became worn and mottled due to age and improper past "refinishing" attempts (polyurethane being placed over a wax base). Bill came over promptly to evaluate the condition of the stairs and give us a bid. The work involved a significant amount of hand-work with scraping and sanding between spindles, etc. Both stairs and risers were addressed. Dust control was good. Bill provided an exact start date and indicated the job would take one week of work by him and a partner; this was accurate. After completion of the job Bill checked back to do touch up.Upon Bill's exam, wasn't satisfied with the final finish, saying that, due to the dry winter air and heat being on, the finish had dried too rapidly resulting in leaving unsatisfactory (for Bill) brush strokes. This was corrected. The stairs now look refreshed and incredible. The cost was reasonable, especially considering all of the necessary hand work. We would highly recommend. Peter St Paul, MN

They are very transparent about all of the pricing, bids, and timeline and that was a huge factor for us. They are fair and honest people. Al has great guys with Chris and Eric on his team. If you're looking for a builder and are considering Wittstock, your search can stop.. these are your guys.

He worked hard to remove stains I'd had no success with, and even got a spot of lovely bright green slime out from one of the bedrooms. He was very conscientious about his work and was sure to check in with us to ensure we were pleased with the end product. Our carpeting looked new again, felt soft, and smelled great! He's also a super nice guy and very reasonably priced, so I'm most certain we'll be using his services again in the future!

They used a product that was of the type receiving the highest effectiveness ratings and at an installation cost in line with what Consumer Reports is a reasonable charge for the job. My roof is longer and more complex than most since my house is U shaped so I felt the charge was appropriate. I am VERY FUSSY when hiring contractors. I was a service/product quality consultant for years so know how to examine a provider. This company is passing soon to Lowell's son. I'm hoping it maintains the high standards Lowell has held to.

They told me it would be $500 minimum and when I said that sounded very high John said that it wasn't worth his time. That seemed very unprofessional to me and I would not recommend this company.
